Ducks Rout USC in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally combined for 43 points and the No. 5 ranked Oregon women's basketball team defeated USC, 93-53, on Friday night at the Galen Center.
Oregon (14-1, 3-0 Pac-12) remained undefeated in Pac-12 play after a dominating defensive display in Los Angeles. The Ducks forced USC into 22 turnovers and held the Trojans to 29.1 percent shooting.
RECORD BREAKING: Ionescu entered Friday's game at USC tied for the UO career record with 608 assists. She found Sabally for a transition three-pointer early in the first quarter to break the tie and move into sole possession of first on the all-time assists list. The Pac-12 career assists record is 831, set by UCLA's Jordin Canada last season.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Ducks took an early lead in the first quarter and continued to build on it.
Sabally tallied seven of the Ducks' first nine points and Oregon led USC, 21-9 at end of the first quarter. The Ducks shot a blistering 66.7 percent from the floor in the first quarter while USC was just 2-of-10.
At the half, Sabally had 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting with four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot. Ionescu had a game-high 15 points at the break. Erin Boley and Ruthy Hebard played limited minutes after each picked up two early fouls. USC was just 4-of-21 shooting in the first half but went 10-of-14 at the line.
Oregon outscored USC, 27-16, in the third quarter and led the Trojans, 70-34. Sabally had a team-high 23 points going to the fourth quarter as she filled the box score with six rebounds, two steals and block.
Freshman Taylor Chavez took over in the fourth quarter as she finished with 14 points and a game-high six steals in the 40-point win, the Ducks' second straight 40-point win.
SABALLY HEATING UP: Sabally scored 25+ points for the third time in four games and is averaging a team-high 23.3 points per game in Pac-12 play.
KOBE IN THE BUILDING: Former Lakers great Kobe Bryant attended the game with his daughter and spoke with the team in the locker room afterwards.
UP NEXT: Oregon will remain in LA, meeting UCLA at 2 PM on Sunday. Pac-12 Networks will broadcast the game live.
