
Sabally's Career Night Leads Ducks at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. – After a slow first half, the Ducks exploded in the third quarter and defeated Washington State, 79-64, on Friday night at Beasley Coliseum.
Satou Sabally poured in a career-high 33 points on 11-of-16 shooting with eight three-pointers. The sophomore forward also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out a pair of assists with no turnovers.
With seven straight wins, Oregon (18-1, 7-0 Pac-12) is off to its best start in league play since joining the Pac-10.
SATOU SENSATION: Sabally has been playing at an incredible level in Pac-12 play. Through seven games, she's averaging a team-high 22.1 points per game on 50.5 percent (54-of-107) shooting overall and 52.1 percent (25-of-48) shooting from three. She's also grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game in conference play with 12 blocks and 11 steals. Sabally has scored 19+ points in eight of the last nine games.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter went back-and-forth as both teams shot well. WSU led, 13-9, after a Borislava Hristova three but Taylor Chavez buried a three as time expired to give the Ducks an 18-17 edge going to the second.
Oregon started the second quarter just 1-for-6 from the field and trailed by six, 30-24, after WSU's Chanelle Molina hit back-to-back threes. Oregon trailed, 34-30, at halftime after shooting just 5-of-15 in the second quarter. Sabally had 12 points at halftime while Hebard had 10.
The Ducks shook off the rust in the third quarter. Oregon opened with an 18-2 run and owned a 48-36 lead with 5:09 left in the third. Sabally hit a pair of threes during the run. The forward scored 14 points in the third as the Ducks outscored WSU, 30-12, in the quarter. Oregon went 6-for-6 from three-point range in the third, with Sabally knocking down four.
After taking a 60-46 lead into the fourth, Oregon led by as much as 19 in the fourth, 74-55, after Sabally hit yet another three with 2:48 remaining. The Ducks cruised to a 79-64 win after knocking down 10-of-13 three-pointers in the second half.
NOTES: Oregon has scored 72+ points in every game this season…Oregon trailed at halftime for just the fourth time this season…Oregon was outrebounded 23-17 in the first half but the Ducks bounced back, outrebounding the Cougars 20-10 in the second half…Ruthy Hebard had her eighth double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds…Hebard scored 54 points and grabbed 23 rebounds in two games against WSU this season.
