LAST TIME OUT
The Ducks went 1-1 during their weekend in the Prairie State, defeating Illinois-Chicago, 5-2, on Feb. 8 and falling to Illinois, 4-3, on Feb. 10.
Oregon posted a successful comeback campaign against UIC, winning the final five singles matches to secure the victory.
The Flames took an early 2-0 lead after narrowly claiming the doubles point and winning at No. 6 singles. But then the Ducks began to rally.
Paiton Wagner and Rifanty Kahfiani were the first two players to finish for the Ducks, winning in straight-sets and evening the score, 2-2.
After Daniela Nasser claimed a win at the No. 2 spot, freshman Allison Mulville clinched the match for Oregon in a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Two days later against Illinois, the Ducks fought until the end but ultimately fell short.
The doubles point came down to Shweta Sangwan and Kahfiani at the top spot. The duo claimed a narrow 7-6(6) win, securing the first point of the match for the Ducks.
Heading into singles play, Oregon was forced to give up a point due to an injury. Illinois then claimed its second point after a win at the No. 5 spot. However, the Ducks displayed resiliency, forcing the remaining four singles matches into third sets.
In the No. 2 spot, Kahfiani battled but ultimately couldn't hold on. A couple courts over, the story was similar for Mulville who also dropped her match – a clinching win for Illinois.
Although Illinois had claimed the victory, Nasser and Wagner continued to fight in their matches.
Nasser completed the comeback at the top spot, taking control in the final two sets to claim a 6-7 (9), 6-1, 6-4 victory. Wagner was close behind her, winning two tiebreaks to give the Ducks their third point of the match, 3-6, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (2).
