Men’s Distance Crew Set For UW Last Chance

EUGENE, Ore. – In search of more NCAA qualifiers, the Ducks are sending several member of the men's distance crew to the UW Last Chance meet in Seattle. Competition begins Friday afternoon with Oregon scheduled to have entries in the mile and distance-medley relay.
What It Means
Reed Brown (3:58.22) and Cooper Teare (3:59.21) enter the weekend with the No. 8 and 13 mile times in the NCAA, respectively. Teare also ranks seventh in the nation at 3,000 meters with his outing last weekend at the Husky Classic. The Ducks have run one DMR this season with the quartet of Brown, Blake Haney, Jacob Miller and James West posting a time of 9:36.21 which ranks No. 3 in the NCAA.

Through its first three meets of the season, Oregon has collected 20 NCAA top-20 event mark. The top 16 in each individual event—top 12 for relays—advance to the NCAA Indoor Championships (March 8-9) in Birmingham, Ala.
Moving Up the Ranks
The Women of Oregon are up to a season-high No. 4 in the Feb. 11 release of the USTFCCCA poll. On the men's side, the Ducks are up seven spots to No. 12, matching their position in the preseason poll. The Week 4 release is the first of the year based solely on in-season marks.
Academic Excellence
Jessica Hull was named the 2018 Division I Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She is the third Oregon runner--and first UO woman--to win the award. Hull was one of four Ducks named to the all-academic team. The individual list also features Isabelle Brauer, Carmela Cardama Baez and Weronika Pyzik. Both Oregon programs were placed on the all-academic team list.
