Ducks Fall to SDSU in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – The Oregon women's lacrosse team battled it out with San Diego State in the neutral territory of Las Vegas on Friday night, before falling behind in the second half for a 13-8 loss to the Aztecs.
How It Happened: The Ducks (1-1) started out the game strong collecting three straight goals, after San Diego State scored the opening goal, with two goals by attacker Shannon Williams and one by midfielder Jamie Level.
The Aztecs responded with two goals to tie the score at 3-3. Attacker Carlie Leach followed with back-to-back goals in less than a minute's span. Williams scored once more in the first period to bring the Ducks to a 6-4 lead over San Diego State headed into halftime.
The Aztecs opened the second half by scoring twice before Williams registered her fourth goal to bring the game to a close 7-6. San Diego State tallied two more goals, answered by a third goal by Leach for her first collegiate hat trick. The Aztecs closed out the game with four straight goals for a 13-8 victory.
Notables: Williams led the Ducks with four goals and became the third Duck in program history to score over 200 career points… The senior captain also picked up her 23rd career hat trick… Freshman goalie Rachel Hall tallied 15 saves against the Aztecs… Level recorded seven of Oregon's 14 draw controls.
