Hall Breaks Records in the Net

03/30/19 | Women's Lacrosse

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Hall broke her own Oregon program record with 20 saves against Ohio State on Saturday morning.

Sparks, Md. – Despite a record-breaking 20 saves from freshman goalkeeper Rachel Hall, the Oregon women's lacrosse couldn't keep up with Ohio State, falling 11-5 at the U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters at Tierney Field on Saturday morning.

Hall broke her own program record of single-game saves, replacing her previous high of 19 saves at California on March 8.

How It Happened: Oregon played strong defense in the first half, holding the Buckeyes to only three goals. Sophomore attacker Lillian Stump netted Oregon's first goal of the game at the 21:32-minute mark to leave the Ducks trailing behind Ohio State, 3-1, headed into halftime.

The Buckeyes took control of the game with an 8-0 run to open the second period. Oregon responded with a 4-0 run of its own to bring the final score to 11-5. Sophomore attacker Marlee Moon Gaddy led the Ducks during the run with a season-high two goals, while senior midfielder Julia Taylor and freshman attacker Carlie Leach scored once each to add to the run.

Notables: Gaddy led the Ducks with two points from two goals… Senior Shannon Williams registered one assist and has recorded at least one point in 48 consecutive games… Junior Gracyn Elliott led the Ducks defensively with four draw controls and two ground balls… Leach also contributed two ground balls.

Up Next: The Ducks face Pac-12 opponent Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., on Friday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m.
