Volleyball Set for European Tour
06/13/19 | Women's Volleyball
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon volleyball team will get a unique bonding opportunity ahead of its upcoming 2019 season as the Ducks prepare to depart this Sunday, June 16, on an 11-day European tour.
The foreign tour will take the Ducks to the Czech Republic (Prague), Austria (Vienna), Slovenia (Maribor) and Italy (Venice and Milan). Throughout the trip, Oregon will have the opportunity to compete in six exhibition matches against multiple national teams, including the World University Games Teams from the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
"This trip is a great opportunity for our team and program to grow," said head coach Matt Ulmer. "We are looking forward to experiencing new cultures and seeing other parts of the world. We will get to play high-level volleyball that will help our staff evaluate where we are and what areas we need to improve upon in our fall camp.
"Perhaps most important is we have nine freshmen, three redshirt and six true, that need to get quality match experience before we begin another tough non-conference and Pac-12 season. We are extremely grateful to our amazing fans and generous supporters that help make this experience for our student-athletes possible."
Fans can follow the Ducks throughout the foreign tour on Twitter and Instagram at @OregonVB, and multiple student-athletes will be providing updates via a blog on GoDucks.com.
