Ducks Beat UC Santa Barbara, 4-0

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon men's tennis team made it three in a row to start the dual season with a 4-0 win Saturday afternoon over UC Santa Barbara at the UO Student Tennis Center. The Ducks are back on their home courts Sunday at 11 a.m. (PT) to host No. 17 Michigan.
Oregon (3-0) claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, and then secured the match victory with three straight-set singles wins that finished within five minutes of each other. UCSB (0-1) is the Ducks' first of seven opponents that played in last year's NCAA Tournament; the Gauchos advanced to the second round.
Freshman Luke Vandecasteele picked up two wins Saturday, one in the No. 2 doubles spot with junior Charles Roberts and another at the No. 5 position in the singles lineup. His 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Alex Soto gave the Ducks a 2-0 match lead and was quickly followed by a victory by fellow freshman Jesper Klöv-Nilsson in the No. 6 spot.
With Oregon leading 3-0, sophomore Joshua Charlton clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Alejandro Vedri at the No. 2 spot in the singles lineup. Charlton, ranked No. 14 in the ITA poll, is now 13-4 this season.
The Ducks posted identical 6-3 wins on courts two and three in doubles play to take an early match lead. Junior Emmanuel Coste and Riki Oshima teamed up for the clinching win in the No. 3 spot to win the doubles point for Oregon.
