EUGENE, Ore. – On the heels of two season-opening sweeps, the Oregon men's tennis team returns to the courts this weekend to host UCSB and No. 17 Michigan. Both teams advanced to the second round of last year's NCAA Tournament.

Last Time Out
The Ducks capped their two-win opening day (Jan. 11) with a 7-0 triumph over Portland State; the team swept Eastern Washington in its first match. Playing out all matches, Oregon was 18-for-18 over the two outings with seven different Ducks picking up at least one singles victory. Sophomore Joshua Charlton—the No. 14 player in the country—won his team-leading 11th and 12th matches of the year.
Career Movement
With wins against Eastern Washington and Portland State alongside sophomore Joshua Charlton, senior Ty Gentry pushed his career total to 64 doubles victories. That figure ties Manuel Kost (2001-05) for the ninth most in program history. Gentry and Charlton (9-2) are the No. 8-ranked duo in the country.

Saturday's match will mark the season opener for UCSB. The Gauchos return three players that won at least 15 matches last season including senior Joseph Guillin who finished the 2018-19 campaign with a 23-11 record. Guillin earned a No. 8 national ranking after the fall tournament season. He was the ITA Southwest Regional champion and advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA National Fall Championships.
About Michigan
The Wolverines enter the dual season as the No. 17 team in the country. Michigan dropped its season opener Wednesday, a 4-3 home loss to No. 23 NC State. The Wolverines return nine from last season's NCAA team including sophomore Andrew Fenty, the 2019 ITA National Freshman of the Year. Fenty and junior Mattias Siimar are No. 5 in the latest doubles rankings. Individually, Fenty sits at No. 78 nationally while freshman Ondrej Styler sits at No. 94 in the country after an impressive fall.

Head coach Nils Schyllander is currently in his 14th season at the helm of the men's program at Oregon. In that time, he has a 189-133 (.587) record with four NCAA Tournament appearances. Overall, he has spent 17 years at Oregon having additionally served as the women's head coach from 2002-2006 when he posted a 58-41 (.586) mark. Schyllander enters the weekend three shy of 250 career victories.
