A Loud Opening Statement
The No. 4 Ducks dominated for much of the night in round one of the Civil War series on Friday, taking a 16-point lead into halftime before holding off a late OSU surge for a 76-64 victory in front of a capacity crowd of 12,364. Oregon's "Big Three" came up big once again - Sabrina Ionescu led the way with 23 points and nine assists, Satou Sabally posted her second straight double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Ruthy Hebard had 17 points and nine boards. The Ducks used a 15-1 run in the second quarter to create separation, and Ionescu drilled buzzer-beating threes to end both the first and third quarters. Oregon did a great job of taking care of the ball; the Ducks did not commit a turnover until the 2:16 mark in the third quarter.

Leader of the Pac
With an assist on the first bucket of Friday night's game, Sabrina Ionescu notched the 939th of her career and passed Gary Payton (938, OSU) as the Pac-12 all-time assists leader for both men and women. Ionescu also moved up two spots to No. 7 on the NCAA women's all-time assists list with 947 in her career entering Sunday's Civil War rematch.
Civil War Series History (UO leads, 62-41)
Oregon holds a 62-41 lead in the all-time Civil War series after taking Friday's weekend opener in Eugene. The Ducks won for the third time in the last 18 meetings, and for the third straight time at home. UO enters Sunday's game in Corvallis seeking its first road win over the Beavers since 2010. Last season in Corvallis, the Beavers pulled out a 67-62 win as the Ducks were forced to play without Ruthy Hebard for most of the final three quarters due to injury. Sabrina Ionescu led the way with 21 points last year at Gill Coliseum, and both Erin Boley and Satou Sabally had 12.
Sabally Surging In Pac-12 Play
Satou Sabally got her 2019-20 season off to a delayed start after missing opening week while playing overseas with the German Women's National Team, but the junior hit the ground running upon her return and has really elevated her game over the last four contests. Sabally posted a career-high 31 points last Sunday against California, going 11-of-14 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line in Oregon's 50-point victory. Sabally had 17 points and a season-high 12 rebounds in Friday's Civil War win while going a career-best 10-of-11 from the free-throw line, marking her second double-double in the last three games after she had 18 points and 11 boards against No. 3 Stanford. Sabally has three double-doubles on the season, all coming against top-10 opponents. Sabally is averaging an impressive 21.0 PPG and 9.3 RPG over the last four contests entering Sunday's game, going an astounding 33-of-38 (86.8%) from the free-throw line during that stretch.

The "Big Three"
The Ducks' power trio of Sabrina Ionescu, Ruthy Hebard and Satou Sabally is arguably the best "Big Three" in the nation. Ionescu leads the team this season with 17.7 points per game while averaging 8.8 rebounds and an NCAA-leading 8.6 assists per game. Hebard is averaging 16.5 points and a team-best 9.5 rebounds per game, and Sabally's recent offensive surge has her season averages up to 16.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The Ducks are one of only two teams in the nation - along with Fresno State - to have three regulars averaging at least 16.0 points per game. Said head coach Kelly Graves after the Civil War win in Eugene - "When those three are really dialed in, there's no three better in the country, as a trio. They set the tone for us."
Shooting The Lights Out
Oregon leads the nation in scoring offense with 87.0 points per game entering Sunday's contest, and the Ducks are No. 2 in the NCAA with a 50.3 field-goal percentage as a team. One of the biggest factor's in Oregon's efficiency has been its dominance in the paint, where the Ducks own a 314-point advantage and have outscored their opponents in all but one game so far, including a 56-16 advantage over Colorado and a 50-18 advantage against Utah. Ruthy Hebard has elevated Oregon's field goal percentage a great deal as the senior post ranks No. 3 in the nation individually with a 67.3 shooting percentage. From three-point range, the Ducks rank No. 8 in the nation with 9.3 threes per game and No. 20 with a 37.0 shooting percentage from behind the arc.
Ionescu, Moore Lead Dynamic Offense
The Ducks boast one of the nation's most dynamic and efficient offenses, which is directed by senior guards Sabrina Ionescu and Minyon Moore. Oregon leads the NCAA with a 1.87 assist-to-turnover ratio, with Moore ranking second nationally at 4.65 and Ionescu fifth at 3.10. The Ducks are No. 3 in the country with 21.3 assists per game behind Ionescu's NCAA-leading 8.6 APG, and Moore is second on the team at 4.6 APG. UO leads the Pac-12 and is No. 4 nationally with just 11.4 turnovers per game.
Ionescu's Historic Week
The best player in the nation played one of the greatest games of her storied career last week in Oregon's 87-55 blowout win over then-No. 3 Stanford. Sabrina Ionescu erupted for a career-high 37 points while matching her career-high with 14 field goals, and the senior superstar added 11 rebounds and seven assists while leading the Ducks in their most complete performance so far this season. Ionescu's career night moved her past Allison Lang (2,252, 1980-84) for the Oregon all-time scoring record that stood for 36 years, and the reigning national player of the year also surpassed 900 career rebounds, becoming the first player in NCAA women's history to reach 2,000+ points, 900+ rebounds and 900+ assists. Three days later against Cal, Ionescu posted her fourth straight double-double and team-leading 10th of the season with 14 points and 10 assists, tying her with Gary Payton for the all-time Pac-12 men's and women's assists record with 938 in her career. Ionescu's historic two-game stretch earned her USBWA and ESPNW national player of the week honors, and she was the Pac-12 player of the week for the second time this season and 10th time in her career, the second-most of any player in league history.
Three-point Threats Off the Bench
Oregon's usual three-point snipers have gotten off to a less efficient start than expected this season, but the Ducks have gotten a huge boost off the bench from sophomore Taylor Chavez and freshman Jaz Shelley. Chavez leads the Pac-12 entering Sunday's game with a 47.2 three-point shooting percentage, and Shelley ranks third in the conference at 43.7. Chavez hit a few big threes in Friday's Civil War win, going 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Chavez's 47.2 percent mark would rank No. 4 in the nation if she met the minimum number of attempts.

Ramping Up The Defensive Intensity
The Ducks are clearly one of the nation's premiere offensive teams, but they have made it a point over the last several games of turning up the intensity on the defensive end as well. Oregon has held 10 of its last 11 opponents under 65 points, including three to 46 points or less, and have recorded 105 total steals and 27 blocked shots while forcing 183 total turnovers over the last 11 games. The Ducks' defensive improvement was sparked by a new three-quarter court press implemented during the South Dakota State game, when the they held the Jackrabbits to just 37.2 percent shooting while forcing 13 turnovers, including 10 in the first half. Oregon forced a season-high 22 turnovers last Sunday against the Golden Bears after pressuring Stanford into 18 a few days earlier. As a team, Oregon is up to No. 32 nationally in scoring defense at 56.9 PPG allowed.
Ducks Boast Improved Depth
Depth was one of Oregon's biggest issues in 2018-19, but the Ducks' bench is much deeper in 2019-20. Jaz Shelley has come on in a big way, erupting for 32 points and a UO record 10 three-pointers on 12/16 against UC Riverside after a 17-point game on 12/14 at Long Beach State. Taylor Chavez has matched Shelley with four double-figure scoring games, headlined by a career-high 25 points on 11/13 vs. Utah State. Lydia Giomi had a career-high 18 points in the season-opener, and Holly Winterburn was the Pac-12 freshman of the Week on 12/9 after dropping 17 points against South Dakota State. As a team, Oregon has had nine different players combine for 68 double-digit scoring performances.
May I Assist You?
Oregon has been one of the best teams in the nation at sharing the ball both this season and throughout the Kelly Graves era, and that has translated to victories. The Ducks are a perfect 16-0 this season when finishing with more assists than their opponent, and 0-2 when getting beat in that category.
Home Cookin'
The Ducks are a perfect 11-0 this season inside Matthew Knight Arena, and Oregon is an astounding 45-2 at home over the last three seasons. Oregon is outscoring its opponents by a whopping 40.4 PPG at home this season, and the Ducks have yet to allow 65 points or more so far in MKA.
This Is The Greatest Show
The Ducks are undefeated at home this season, and one of the biggest reasons for UO's success in MKA is the team's popularity in and around Eugene. Friday's Civil War showdown was played in front of a capacity crowd of 12,364, marking the fourth sellout in Oregon women's basketball history and the third inside Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon is No. 1 in the nation in total attendance (113,997) and No. 2 in average attendance (10,363) - trailing only South Carolina (11,070) - and those figures don't even include the 11,530 fans who came to watch the Ducks take down the USA Women's National Team on 11/9/19. Oregon has drawn at least 10,000 fans in each of its last seven home games, breaking 11,000 three times and 12,000 twice.
Up Next
The Ducks will go on the road next week for a tough three-game stretch that begins Thursday at Utah. Oregon will then play Saturday at Colorado before going to Storrs, Connecticut, to take on No. 3 UConn on Monday.
Oregon is looking to win in Gill Coliseum for the first time since 2010; no active member of the Ducks' roster or coaching staff has ever beaten the Beavers in Corvallis.
"That's going to be big for us," Sabrina Ionescu said following Friday night's win. "We're not really happy splitting wins with them. We're going to have to take that next step, and be an elite team on the road."
