LOS ANGELES – The No. 3 ranked Oregon women's basketball team won its 12th consecutive game and seventh straight on the road on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 93-67 victory over USC before a large contingent of Duck fans in the Galen Center.
The Ducks (24-2, 13-1) were led by junior Erin Boley, who went 7-of-11 from three-point range for a season-high 25 points. Boley was one of four Ducks to score in double figures, along with Ruthy Hebard (22), Satou Sabally (18) and Sabrina Ionescu (12).
Oregon kept its hold on first place in the Pac-12 with the win and will take a one-game lead over No. 8 Stanford into the final four games of the regular season.
How it Happened: The Ducks got off to a slow start, missing their first five shots while falling into a 7-0 deficit, but they responded with an 8-0 run thanks to a pair of buckets by Hebard and a three-pointer by Sabally to take the lead. USC (13-12, 5-9) pulled even at 15 apiece with under a minute to go in the opening quarter, but Sabally followed with a three-point play and a jumper at the buzzer to give the Ducks a five-point lead through the first 10 minutes. Sabally accounted for half of Oregon's 20 first-quarter points.
Boley knocked down a pair of triples early in the second quarter to push Oregon's lead to 28-22, and the Ducks got three baskets from Hebard and two from Minyon Moore – making her return to the Galen Center after playing the last three years at USC – during a 10-0 run that put UO up by 14 with 3:15 to go before halftime. Freshman Jaz Shelley just barely beat the shot clock with a deep three at the 2:01 mark, and Hebard added another bucket inside with under a minute to go to help give the Ducks an 11-point lead at the break.
Oregon utilized great ball movement during the first half with 15 assists on 17 field goals, led by eight from Ionescu and seven from Moore.
Boley drilled two more three-pointers early in the third quarter to push the Ducks' lead to 20, and Ionescu hit a corner three of her own to bring Oregon's advantage back to 20 at the 4:26 mark. USC went on a 9-0 run to make it an 11-point game with 3:06 left in the period, but Boley responded with a triple and then went back-to-back with Sabally to give Oregon an 18-point lead with 10 minutes remaining.
Sabally scored UO's first five points of the fourth with a three and a pair of free throws, and Boley followed with a pair of midrange jumpers. USC scored three straight to get within 18 with 6:35 remaining, but the Women of Troy were unable to chip away anymore as the Ducks pulled away for their 12th straight victory. Oregon led by as much as 28 after a three-pointer by freshman Holly Winterburn, one of nine Ducks to get in the scoring column.
Who Stood Out: Boley finished an efficient 9-of-14 from the floor in her best offensive game of the season, scoring 19 of her 25 points in the second half. Hebard and Sabally each pulled down 10 rebounds for their 52nd and 11th career double-doubles, respectively, and Ionescu dished out a game-high 13 assists while adding seven rebounds to match Hebard with double-double No. 52. Moore finished with a season-high 11 assists in her USC return, helping Oregon to a whopping 27 assists on 35 total field goals.
