Thank You, Ruthy and Sabrina
02/29/20 | Women's Basketball
Oregon women's basketball fans and UO staff members offer personal messages to Oregon's fourth-year seniors before their final regular-season game Sunday.
Sabrina and Ruthy personify what it means to be student-athletes, competitors, teammates and Oregon Ducks. Together, they changed the trajectory of Oregon women's basketball, elevating the program to unfathomable heights. They believed in Coach Graves's bold vision of an elite program and worked tirelessly to make it a reality.
While their incredible accomplishments on the court are well-known and documented, their accomplishments off the court are equally as impressive. Sabrina and Ruthy helped the team connect with fans of all ages and create a new generation of Duck fans. They have been an inspiration to young girls and boys throughout the state and the nation, and their legacies will be revealed in the years to come as a legion of young fans grow up with a passion for the game of basketball and a respect of sportsmanship, hard work and the power of a team.
On behalf of the entire Duck Nation, I want to thank Sabrina and Ruthy for all that they have done for the University of Oregon and we wish them the very best in what comes next. We will be cheering!
Rob Mullens
UO Athletic Director
The four years went too fast, but the impact will last forever. Thank you for taking a chance on the University of Oregon women's basketball team when success was just a vision. You have led our team to new heights and your names are all over the record books. The postseason runs have been some of my favorite memories, and I feel fortunate to have had a front-row seat for your careers.
However, more important than your skill on the basketball court is who you are as humans. I will cherish the laughs, tears, smiles, disappointments, hugs and stories we shared. You two have inspired more people than you will ever know. You have also energized a department, university, community and nation. Your futures are so bright and I am excited to see what comes next. You will be missed! #OnceADuckAlwaysADuck
Lisa Peterson
UO Deputy Athletic Director/SWA
Ruthy & Sabrina,
The University of Oregon is home to many outstanding individuals, but the grit, determination, toughness, athleticism and passion you embody far surpasses the meaning of "outstanding."
It has been remarkable to watch the chemistry between you two on the court. Oregon is a special, family-oriented place that truly celebrates student-athletes for their athletic and academic endeavors, while also emphasizing the impact of sport in the community. Your desire for greatness has power, and that power has affected all athletes — female and male, young and old. You have turned bystanders into believers, spectators into passionate supporters. The University, state, nation and world are all fortunate to have you be advocates for not only women's basketball and women's sports but also for the entire sports world, as we all can continue to learn so much from you.
On behalf of my wife Jessica, my two sons Rocco & Mario Mateo, myself and THE ENTIRE OREGON DUCK FAMILY, THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for your sacrifice to the sport. Thank you for your relentless effort. Thank you for allowing us to witness your legacy. We all know, it won't stop here.
Mario Cristobal
UO Football Head Coach

Ruthy: What a difference you have made! Thank you for the incredible talent you developed here at UO but also for the positive can-do-it attitude that has brought UO Women's basketball to new heights.
I reflect on your academic growth as much as your athletic development. Ruthy, you were regularly (no actually more than regularly) a part of the Jaqua Center as a place to be used as a connecting area for all student-athletes. You took up residence on the second-floor study area with your teammates but many, many others as well. The example of togetherness, support, shared happiness, and attention to academic study was impressive. You impacted many others. The atmosphere that was created is an important one and created a change in focus for women's basketball especially. You made it all about being together and taking seriously the sport, the academy, and community service.
Ruthy, you led the way and set a standard. Thank you for all you contributed.
Sabrina: The passion you have demonstrated for your sport and every aspect of it is well-known and expressed in any number of ways in your years at the University of Oregon. Your performances and accomplishments were unbelievable. A pleasure to watch! Thank you for bringing joy to so many people.
But the other area that has developed in a dramatic manner is your passion for the academic component of learning and discovery. What a thrill to see those things come together for you. You have established an awareness in others regarding how to pursue excellence as you establish an evolving identity. You have it now but it will continue to mature.
The vision you have is certainly for what you can accomplish as a basketball player, but also for impacting others. Watching you play is a vision all its own. And you have and will continue to influence others, particularly those young girls who benefit from seeing some of the confidence you have displayed.
You have made a difference already and it's only just begun.
Thanks.

First home volleyball game of the 2016 season, shortly after Sabrina got to campus. Not many people knew who she was yet, just a talented recruit for the women's basketball team. Sabrina sits in the stands next to my wife, Kara, and two kids, Camden and Harper. Kara rarely got to watch a volleyball match because the two kids are all over the place. Sabrina volunteered her helping hands. She played with the kids throughout the match.
Since that day my kiddos became huge Sabrina fans without knowing that she even played a sport. Kara and I became huge Sabrina fans without ever seeing her play a game. The relationships have grown over the past four years, but Sabrina hasn't changed. Her eyes light up any time she sees Camden and Harper, or we get the chance to talk about them.

Sabrina the person is what makes Sabrina the athlete. She always puts others before herself and never shied away from getting involved and putting in the work. Our family has been touched by so many student-athletes but usually they are a part of the volleyball program. Sabrina's spirit is endearing and her selflessness is joyful. Thank you for being an example to my children and countless others.
Matt Ulmer
UO volleyball head coach
P.S. Regarding Ruthy, she couldn't wait to tell me how good of a volleyball player she is. She showed me a clip of herself cranking a ball at a player's face in high school. She took pride in it and said if I ever needed her she was ready!
My mom was living in Portland and I was in Eugene, so we didn't see each other more than once a month or so. After the news, I suddenly felt this need to find a way to connect with her more often. That path ended up being the Oregon women's team.
My 14-year-old loved the Ducks, so we started going to the games. Each time, I would call my mom and remind her to watch. It wasn't long before she became a big fan, too, and in particular, a Ruthy fan. My mom loved the way Ruthy would play. Ruthy was strong, talented and tough — with such a fantastic smile. When my mom played high school basketball in the 50s, she was strong, talented and tough — she proudly told me. She had a permanent lump from a kick to the shin during a game, and she wore that injury like a badge of honor.
After each game, my mom and I would talk about the game. It was just the usual chit-chat about great plays, bad calls and tournament prospects. But it was so much more than chit-chat. It was a chance to connect with my mom without the heavy sadness of what lay ahead. It was a conduit to learn more about mom's life and share a bond.
In June my mom took a turn for the worse and within a week, she passed away. It was devastating. Even though we were warned, none of us really believed we'd lose her.
A couple weeks after she passed I was feeling really sad. In my grief, I was hoping for a sign that she was out there somewhere, still with me.
It was a bright sunny day in Eugene and I stopped by Safeway on 18th to pick up a few things. Standing outside the front doors was Ruthy. I felt a rush of emotions. Star-struck, bashful, and feeling a bit silly about my reaction, all I could think to say was "Hi." She smiled back at me — that big beautiful Ruthy smile. I hurried past as tears welled up and I realized I got my sign.

It has been an absolute pleasure over the last few years to watch the rise of the Oregon women's basketball program behind Sabrina and Ruthy's leadership. Getting to see the impact all the wins, records and accolades have made on the UO athletics department and women's sports as a whole has been inspiring, and we hope to be able to deliver a similar impact throughout our season. We have enjoyed seeing the countless great moments Sabrina and Ruthy have produced and look forward to watching them finish off their senior seasons on their own terms.
The Oregon softball team

Dear Ruthy & Sab:
Enough thanks cannot be given for what you have meant to this program, athletic department and community. As a basketball fan I've always respected what you've done on the court. But as a father, seeing what you do as role models and mentors is what makes you special.
Ruthy, I'll never forget the time you spent with Cade while filming a commercial for the St. Baldrick's charity event. It meant more to him than you'll ever know. The patience you showed during the production made me realize what a truly caring, compassionate person you are. Cade left the arena that day as your biggest fan. He has since worn No. 24 for his first two seasons of organized basketball.
Sab, most of the stories I share with others about you have very little to do with basketball. I'll never forget the time you drove my dad to the airport on your off day during "Snowmageddon '19" so I could help get your teammate to an appointment. Or the afternoon I had child-care issues and you came over on 10 minutes notice to make sure I could get Cade to his game on time. Your selflessness is and will always be your most endearing quality. Whether it be showing up at Cade's little league games unannounced to show support or fulfilling an obscure request for a picture, autograph, or video message you are truly an inspiration for kids of all ages and gender.
Thank you both for being ambassadors for the game and the University. You will be missed dearly. Can't wait to see what the future holds for each of you! Go Ducks!
Much love & respect,
Trav
It only seems right to begin with a 'congratulations' to the entire Oregon women's basketball team and staff on another Pac-12 title. Winning championships never gets old and with the current direction and momentum of the program under Kelly Graves, it's a feeling that we — as Duck fans — can certainly look forward to for years to come.
Specifically to Ruthy and Sabrina, thank you both for the past four years of commitment each of you have made to elevate the UO women's basketball program. The entire coaching staff has done a great job shepherding your talents both as athletes and human beings. The impact you've made reaches beyond the Oregon athletics department and into the community as whole. It doesn't take much to look around at a sold-out crowd at MKA and see how you've inspired a new generation of Duck fans. You took a chance coming here as freshmen to help build something special, and it has clearly paid off.
But as we know, there is more "unfinished business" to take care of before your days at Oregon are done. Best of luck in the post-season. Go Ducks!
Oregon Track and Field
I started going to women's games in the 1990s when my daughter was little. I did it because I wanted to be a good dad, to show that strong young women used their bodies to accomplish high goals. In the process, I fell in love with the women's game. The passing, the teamwork, the defense; all far superior to the men's game. Then my daughter got older, the Ducks got worse, and I lost interest.
Until 2016, when I heard that this new coach, Kelly Graves, had landed the best high school player in the country, Sabrina Ionescu. So I would saunter up to the ticket window, plop down $5 for a general admission ticket and sit wherever I wanted. I came to see Sabrina, of course, but that very first game -- I think it was a bad loss to Washington State -- there was this big baby-faced girl from Alaska who sank every shot she took. The next year, this 6-foot-4 gazelle from Germany joined the team, and I was hooked.
I started going to games so my daughter could be inspired by strong women working together to accomplish high goals. She is now a doctor and reaching for her own goals. Mission accomplished. Now it is my turn, at the age of 62, to be inspired.
I have been a passionate sports fan all my life. but never have I seen a team this talented, this mentally strong, this emotionally connected. These three young women have taught this old man that we are all put on this Earth with special talents and that it is our job, our obligation to use them to the utmost for the benefit of those around us.
Thank you, Sabrina, Ruthy, and Satou. I cannot express the joy and hope you have planted in my heart.
Carl Falsgraf
Ruthy and Sabrina,
Thank you. Thank you both for everything. The countless wins, broken records, memories and representing Oregon as well as any two student-athletes have ever done. You have inspired so many people to be better versions of themselves, on the court, in the classroom and in life. You have set the bar for what it means to be a Duck. When I first arrived in Eugene, never did I imagine seeing hundreds of young fans line up for autographs or hundreds of grown MEN wearing No. 20 jerseys to a WOMEN'S basketball game. This is the culture you have helped build.
As your former student-manager, you made my job incredibly easy. Not having to chase down a rebound because you seldom missed will certainly do that. I will never forget March of 2017, cutting down the Pac-12 Championship net in Seattle and how much I enjoyed being on the same team as both of you.
Someday down the line, I hope my kids will want to pick up a basketball. I will introduce them to legends of the game, Kobe, MJ, LeBron. I guarantee we will watch just as many, if not MORE, highlights of Ruthy and Sabrina because I was honored enough to witness that greatness daily. Hopefully, they will understand why the framed WNBA jerseys in the garage are so special. Thank you.
Once a Duck, Always a Duck.

Oregon WBB Student Manager (2015-2018)
Some people shy away from the opportunity for greatness,
And others gravitate towards the challenge to overcome fear,
But none more so than Ruthy and Sabrina, whom together
Rewrote UO, Pac-12 and NCAA record books during their four years.
It's tough to put into words how much each has meant,
Not only to UO, but to the basketball world as a whole,
And each other's success was impacted by the other
In working together to achieve their individual & collective goals.
Oregon will forever be a part of their life stories,
Not just athletically and academically, but personally too;
Everything they have accomplished on and off the court
Serves as an inspiration for me and you.
Collectively we will look back on their careers and
Undoubtedly recall the records, achievements and accolades;
Remembering the triumphs, trials and tribulations that
Undeniably contributed to how UO women's basketball's ascent was made.
Time waits for no one and senior day has arrived, it is
Hard to believe Ruthy and Sabrina's college careers are nearing the end;
Yellow and Green Ducks jerseys will become WNBA uniforms, but their
Home and heart will forever be in Oregon.
Every time someone thinks about Oregon women's basketball,
Both of their names will always be part of the narrative;
As Coach Graves would tell you about their impact on the program,
Ruthy and Sabrina's influence & contributions have been transformative.
Ducks Nation is extremely blessed to have had the chance
to cheer on two of the best to ever wear the Yellow and Green;
thank you Ruthy and Sabrina for all of the memorable moments
and we look forward to when you come back home to Eugene.
ONCE A DUCK, ALWAYS A DUCK!
Billy Blood

Ruthy,
Thank you for choosing Oregon, for choosing us to be your family! Thank you for being my coach, mentor and for showing me and girls like me how to chase our dreams!

When I attend a men's basketball game, and see one or both teams struggling at the foul line, I like to shout, "Shoot like a girl!" By which I mean, shoot like Sabrina and Ruthy.
When I watch Sabrina and Ruthy perfect the pick-and-roll, yet again, I say a little whisper to all the men still playing out there: "See, that's how you do it."
Even when Ruthy and Sabrina are helping their team win a game by 50 points, it's so fun to watch them because they are so CLINICALLY good. They put on a clinic, every time.
My daughter was in elementary school during Coach Jody Runge's heyday. It was such a glorious and satisfying time for women's basketball. I pined for its return for so many years. Now it's back -- and back for good -- thanks to the legacies of Sabrina and Ruthy. Thank you!
Jeff Wright
To have witnessed firsthand the impact these two athletes have had not only on the athletic department, but the city of Eugene, and women's basketball nationally has been nothing shy of extraordinary. I remember going to a couple of WBB games when I was a student, and then following that up these last three years—it doesn't compare. Everyone in this community has seen how these young ladies have established a winning culture for their team, and built it for generations to come.
I will miss watching these two play, but know they are destined for greatness, and will be iconic players of the game for many years to come. Congratulations on what has been an amazing career so far. Let's bring that Natty to Eugene before you leave! Go Ducks!

I never followed women's basketball. Because of Sabrina and Ruthy I stood out in the cold for hours to get good seats and ended up buying season tickets just to watch classic, phenomenal basketball. May their journeys take them to infinity and beyond.
Michael Bryant
Seven years ago, I watched the talented Jillian Alleyne work the post from a courtside seat. Not because I'm a VIP; Matt Knight was virtually empty and no one stopped me. Fast forward to 2020: hordes of fans; sold out arenas, routine wins, lines of autograph seekers, a plethora of awards, shattered records, championships. The transformation wrought by Ruthy and Sabrina in four short years is astonishing.
They play with passion, night after night. That slick pick and roll? Poetry in motion. They are gracious and generous on and off the court. There's no showboating, just hard work, smarts, humility, love of the game and respect for their fellow teammates. Watching these two develop from gutsy underdogs to polished basketball elite has been a delight.
Our women's games draw more fans than the men's. Think about that for a moment. To someone who grew up in an era when sports were for boys, Ruthy and Sabrina are far more than two great players. Ruthy and Sabrina are revolutionaries, heroes, role models. They have made it cool and exciting to watch women play basketball. Ruthy and Sabrina did much more than elevate a UO program. They've created a seismic shift in how women players are viewed and valued, not just here in Tracktown, but across the nation. I am so proud. Thank you.
Julie Daniel
The record books will reflect most of what you contributed on the court WHICH IS HUGE, but the best stat, the thing that matters most is "Once a Duck, Always a Duck". You two belong to us forever. This basketball program is YOURS forever. You are soon to join a club of alumni that are so proud to welcome you — and we do that with open arms.
Peg Rees
My Dad just turned 80 and suffers from severe congestive heart failure such that he can no longer go to games. Having Ruthy and Sabrina build this amazing team has brought him such great joy!
My sister and I are Oregon grads. We are very loyal to all the Duck athletic programs, but this women's team has a special place in his heart! Thank you for everything ladies. The Clark Family, particularly my dad Gary, wish you every success in your bright futures
Suzan Clark
One of my favorite memories is watching Ruthy get rebounds. Her strength encourages me to get more rebounds when I play.

Ruthy and Sab:
It is hard to quantify how much you have done for this University, community and beyond. Your legacy is already felt while you are both still here, and it is one that will be felt for many years to come. I cannot imagine Oregon women's basketball without you, but your talent on the basketball court is only a fraction of what makes you so special.
The bigger impact you will leave hit me last night as you were doing postgame media and laughing with each other. No matter what has changed around you — the teammates, the crowd size, staff members, the hype — you both have remained your true selves over the last four years. You are still the same gracious, happy, goofy, hardworking, BADASS women that sparked an amazing postseason run as freshmen. You still love those around you unconditionally and are humble as can be. You've inspired the young, old and in between by being true to who you are.
I'm thankful I've had the chance to be along for the ride. My favorite memories include the UW Pac-12 Tournament upset, traveling to Duke and Connecticut and exploring NYC, and that Mississippi State win last year.
Sab: I'll never forget when you got knocked over in the Duke game. Your reaction was priceless. You might be a killer on the court but you're also such a goofball and I really appreciate that side of you.
Ruthy: I'll always laugh about how much of a hype woman you were on the streets of Seattle for the "proposal" — it just reminds me of how positive and happy you always are.
Rob and I both look forward to planning trips to watch you both at the next level, and I cannot wait to see where life brings you both. Once a Duck, always a Duck.
Brielle

Dear Sabrina,
Thank you for being such a great role model and inspiration to Amelia and I. You always take the time to say hi and have a conversation with us which brightens our day! We will miss watching you play, but have enjoyed seeing you play over the years with Ruthy. We wish you the best in the WNBA and are hoping our mom will take us to some of your games in the future. Thanks again Sabrina.
Sincerely
Hanna and Amelia
I was fortunate to travel to Europe with the women's basketball team in late summer 2016. There I got to experience the early development of a very special team. On the trip an indescribable bond was created between our two McDonald's All-Americans: Sabrina and Ruthy.
I remember attending a lunch with the team at the Nike European Headquarters in Amsterdam and enjoying an evening dinner gondola canal ride. I remember strolling with the team on the streets of Barcelona and touring the unfinished basilica, Sagrada Familia. I still cherish the Chanel No. 5 I bought off a sidewalk; it represents a special connection to these gals, and I wear it to all home games.
After the exhibition game that opened their freshman season, my husband and I and two other couples were fortunate to join the team for a meal in the Founders' Club. Everyone introduced themselves. Afterwards Sabrina came over to my husband and started a conversation. Their friendship has blossomed these four years and has been a significant influence on his life.
Often Sab and Ruthy give him hugs at Fastbreak Club and other social events. The hugs after the Pac-12 Tournament Championship victory in Seattle were special.
These two have shown the true face of humanity through their compassion with the Eugene community and their loyal fans. And, yes, they've signed mega autographs and posed for photos with adoring children. The kids will cherish this photo more than one with the Duck!
Who'd ever think you'd see the UO President and the Oregon governor cheering on our women at MKA? The play and spirit of Ruthy and Sabrina have driven President Schill to become a rabid fan!
I share the season schedule poster honoring Sabrina and Ruthy with my entire neighborhood as it's posted next to my front door. Neighbors have commented how kind and generous these women have been to young kids who look up to them with awe.
I thank them for the joy they have brought me and my husband and to millions more! How fortunate our community has been to experience the passion and presence of Sabrina and Ruthy.
Many heartfelt thanks!
Becky Sisley
We all love our Ruthy from Fairbanks.
Among the best Centers ever, she ranks.
Her timing and footwork and sure hands
Always amaze those of us in the stands.
Hebard on the boards
Is quite the ballet to behold.
Her ability to box out and rebound
Never ceases to astound.
To try and defend Ruthy in the paint
Is not for those with hearts who are faint.
They send two, they send three, maybe the whole dang team
And she can still power to the board and ruin their scheme.
For someone like Ruthy it causes no chagrin
To have defenders hanging all over her limbs.
She still gets herself, and the ball, to the basket.
The other team's failure? They cannot mask it.
She sets the pick then proceeds to roll
Into position to receive the ball.
When they pass, her teammates know she'll be ready.
Our success inside, thanks to Hebard, is steady.
Around her defender she can spin and turn
They know that, yet again, they've been burned.
If somehow a route to the basket cannot be found,
She gets the ball to a guard who can shoot from downtown.
It's almost impossible to believe our great luck
That you chose Oregon and became a Duck.
We will always appreciate you and your fame
Thank you so much for sharing your game!
Norine Sweeney
Every time I see her play, I am Smote by the GOAT.
How can she make those passes, as if by rote?
Is there any scorer's bench on which she did not fall
To chase after a steal, or an errant ball?
If you are a Duck, you are also Smote by the GOAT.
Over some of our rivals we find it hard not to gloat,
Because she came to Oregon, chose to wear Green,
And made our team quite relevant on the National Scene.
A mascot with wings she deserved - one who soars and flies
Above those on earth. She's on another level with the records she defies.
It feels like a dream from which we awoke
To see that one of our Ducklings has become THE GOAT.
If you admire drive and ambition, you are Smote by the GOAT
As are many others who excel in the very same sport.
From far and near her admirers flock to the Arenas
To enjoy watching the phenomenal Sabrina.
If you are the opposing team, you are often Smote by the GOAT.
You think you're prepared with a clipboard, and all kinds of notes.
She needs no sword as she dribbles and drives and slashes her way through
And scores, and assists, and rebounds too!
From behind, or above, or around
Her dagger-of-a-pass a teammate will have found.
If no one was able to get free
Just keep the ball, #20, and bury a three!
Tear up the record books. They need to be re wrote
Because they've also been Smote by the GOAT.
We can't thank you enough for joining our team
You will always be loved by those in Green.
Norine Sweeney

To Sabrina and Ruthy (and teammates),
We bought season tickets this season to your games. We bought season tickets to UConn games to insure our getting tickets for Oregon-UConn.
We live in Austin, Texas.
The skills, camaraderie and joy you have brought to the game was incentive enough to spend some travel dollars to see you in person. Thank you for all you've done to elevate the Oregon program as well as women's basketball in general. We have tickets to all rounds of the NCAA tourney. Plan on seeing you cutting down the nets in New Orleans!

With one hundred years of history as part of the University of Oregon community, The Duck Store has been privileged to see some of the greatest moments in UO athletics. But the contributions of Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu go beyond just a moment. They represent a tipping point in how our community recognizes and celebrates women's athletics.
We see it every day, in the conversations we hear and the fans we meet who are immensely proud of Sabrina, Ruthy and the entire women's basketball program. The fan enthusiasm is rooted not only in their athletic achievements but in the sense of community these student-athletes have helped create. That is what creates a lasting impact — engaging every Duck and inspiring the next generation. Thank you, Ruthy and Sabrina.

Being the mother of an 8-year-old daughter it has been so wonderful to have such amazing role models — strong, healthy, intelligent, genuine, selfless females. Sabrina and her determination and mental toughness; Ruthy, an incredible athlete who also never seemed to lose her smile.
They leave their hearts on the court. And if that were not enough, then they would stay to sign autographs and talk to their fans. My daughter would stand speechless and awestruck in front of these women, who would smile and say "thanks for coming" when we, the fans were the ones who were truly thankful. And though my daughter could do little more than whisper a shy "thanks" in the autograph line, she would talk nonstop at home about the Lady Ducks.
Thanks for inspiring so many of us devoted fans, but from the bottom of my heart, thanks for being such incredible role models for me daughter.
Jennifer Kalata
Back in the fall of 2016 I made my first visit to the University of Oregon campus and decided to attend my first women's basketball game. Purchased my $18 courtside seats and have been hooked since. Something about how well they both play together and how they always seem to know what the other is going to do before they do it is amazing.
Thank you Ruthy and Sabrina for the four years of greatness. Looking forward to watching you both play in the WNBA.
Steven Diaz
The last couple of years as an Oregon women's basketball fan have been special. There are three key reasons why – Sabrina Ionescu, Ruthy Hebard, and Satou Sabally.
How do you thank these three remarkable women properly? By continuing to support the program that they brought into the national spotlight long after they are gone. Duck Nation needs to keep packing Matthew Knight Arena. They need to keep showing up at road games. They need to keep tuning in on television. And, they need to watch these players at the next level – the WNBA needs their viewership.
Sabrina – 2K/1K/1K – the record breaker and setter. The goat. There will never be another player quite like her. Fearless and bold. She has changed the game forever.
Ruthy – I feel like I never saw her miss a shot in the paint. I know she did, but, she was so good you forget that she is capable of missing. The other half to Sabrina's legacy. She wouldn't have it without Ruthy.
Satou – her versatility is unreal. When she asked to step it – she did. She got stronger, fought harder, and left it all on the court. There's a reason why she can declare as a junior, it's because she's that good.
Go Ducks,
Gina Hernandez
I got to see Mickey Mantle, Jim Brown, LeBron James, and Sabrina play live. Grand Slam. Each the best ever. 'Nuf said.
Mark Gissiner

I met her across the Dinner table in January 2017 and everything I'd heard about her was true. She was extremely polite, whip smart, and one of the most humble people I'd ever met. As we chatted about her freshman year at the University of Oregon and the game of basketball, I found myself captivated by what a special young lady she was/is. However, what struck me most that night at dinner was the way she sweetly connected with my young daughter. The positive effect she has had on young girls and the attention she has brought to women's basketball has been magic to witness these past four years. Her athletic ability/accomplishments are unrivaled and will likely never be repeated.
But, Sabrina Ionescu is so much more than an amazing athlete. She is the personification of grace under pressure, kindness, faith and dare I say it — greatness. I think Kobe Bryant must be incredibly proud. I feel fortunate that I got to know her. It's surreal to think about when we began following Oregon women's basketball in 2013, and sitting a few rows behind the Oregon bench. Now, we share Matthew Knight Arena with as many as 12,000 fans per game, thanks to Coach Graves, Sabrina and many other outstanding young women.
Our little Family will miss you, Sabrina. Our thoughts/prayers go with you as this beautiful chapter closes and the next one begins. Thank you SO much for your special kindness to us, but especially to our daughter.
Gratefully,
Naomi Mimnaugh
I remember their freshman year. When Sabrina passed a bullet ball to Ruthy and it hit her in the head! I think that is when we knew that Sab had game and the team was going to learn her way of balling fast!
We love them both!! And can't wait to watch them in the WNBA!
Kathy Myhre
Sabrina and Ruthy,
Thank you for opening my eyes to women's basketball. You have both inspired me to join the movement and make as much of an impact as I can with our local girls youth basketball programs. You've impacted our community way beyond the basketball court. And on the basketball court, no one has ever done it better than you two. You both are truly special individuals. Thank you for all the memories and uniting so many people. Go Ducks.
Thank you,
Michael Crippen
I have so enjoyed watching you play for these past four years. I played basketball in high school and at LCC for a year. So I know great basketball when I see it.
There have been times that my jaw drops when you run the pick and roll. It is so smooth, like butter spread on bread. I have told everyone I know that they should watch the Duck women play at least one game. I have two friends that moved to Tacoma (where I live now) that are Duck fans because the team plays great basketball.
Good luck in the WNBA. Watching you play for different teams will be odd. I know you both will be successful wherever you play. I know that when and if your team plays the Seattle Storm I will be there to watch and root you on.
Thanks for the memories.
Peg Cook
Ruthy and Sab,
This has been what feels like a relatively short four years. As someone who went to both men's and women's basketball, I decided three years ago to put my efforts solely towards Oregon women's ball and commit to going to, if not all, as many games as possible, buying season tickets now for the past couple years. I want to thank you for the memories and building an amazing program up from a small following of hundreds to now sellouts and inspiring young women. Your choice to be here in Eugene has added a unique opportunity that is not lost on me and the many Duck fans across the globe.
There are too many memories I could share but minus this year's unfinished biz my best memory will be last March watching the Sweet Sixteen victory at Moda Center: Ruthy battling injury still giving as much as you can to try and get the job done, Sab playing 40 minutes almost every game, willing the team to a win. I applaud your hard work, determination and spirits that make it so addictive to be a Duck. Your stats have made me nerd out talking about what each of you did in the game the day before. I will miss giving a hi-five pregame, but I know this is just the beginning for you all and this won't be the last time I see either one of you play.
Sco' Ducks!
Nate Kahle
Dear Sabrina and Ruthy:
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for all the joy, fun and excitement that you have brought to Eugene and the Duck fan base! You both exemplify hard work, team work and passion for the game and are role models for so many young girls. We will be watching the last few games with joy and nostalgia. And we believe that you and the team can win the NCAA national championship this year!
Go Ducks!! After that, you both will be stars in the WNBA!
Thank you for everything and Godspeed!!!
Kay Porter, Ph.D.
I have greatly enjoyed watching you play basketball for four years as a season-ticket holder. You both play with extreme skill, toughness, intelligence and flair. You play basketball the way it is meant to be played.
Winning the national championship may be the ultimate goal, but win or lose, your legacy will live on long after this season ends. You have inspired me to work harder to improve and be a better person. But I am an old man with not many years left. So more important is the inspiration you have given to our youth, especially young girls.
Maybe they won't grow up to be basketball stars — maybe soccer or track or volleyball or some other sport. Maybe they won't become athletic stars. But you will have inspired them to become a success in life and a better person. You will never know how many people you have inspired, but rest assured it is many and that is the legacy that the two of you have accomplished.
Mac Wyckoff
Sabrina and Ruthy:
There are countless ways you have each impacted our family, as fans of the Ducks and of the sport of basketball. Too many memories to list. The way you carry yourselves on and off the court with incredible strength and grace make me both proud to be a former female student-athlete, and hopeful for the future of women in sport.
But more than anything I want to thank you for the connection you have made with my 8-year-old daughter. She will never have two better women to inspire the strong female in her. Watching you grow alongside her has been an absolute joy and privilege. She will never forget Ruthy picking her up to join in on a "Go Ducks" cheer. I will never forget the look on her face when Sabrina secured that 1,000th rebound.
Because of you both Brynn will always understand the power of women who believe in each other and she will never underestimate herself. That is just one piece of your legacy. May you continue to spread it wherever your journey takes you next. We are so proud to call you both Ducks!
Kelly Schukart
Dear Sabrina and Ruthy,
Since you have graced us with your presence on the court these past four years, you have given us so many gifts: the gift of your commitment to be your best on the court and off; the gift of your close friendship, evident from the way you work together so beautifully on the court—it's like a choreographed dance—and the expressions of your love and appreciation for one another (radiant smiles and jubilant celebrations); the gift of your amazing achievements, again on the court and off, how you balance the undoubtedly immense pressures of being high-performance, record-breaking student-athletes with such grace; the gift of entertaining us so delightfully with absolutely beautiful, unselfish, quintessentially team basketball; the gift of your leadership in cultivating new leaders and building a strong and sustaining women's basketball program at the UO; the gift of taking us along for the ride to the very pinnacle of achievement in women's college basketball nationally (what fun it was to see you in regional competition last year, all the way to the final 4); and the gift of sharing your journey and thoughts with us in countless interviews, letters to us, and expressions of grief, especially as you lost a dear friend and mentor in Kobe Bryant (The way you handled yourself with such grace and poise and authenticity in the face of unimaginable loss, Sabrina, was deeply inspiring. What happened spontaneously on the court at the OSU game when you all embraced, speaking at Kobe's memorial, pledging to live out his legacy by making significant contributions to women in basketball and sports in general and returning to play Stanford that same day and offering up all your accomplishments in his honor was truly a lesson in courage, humility and faith.).
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, and bless you,
Therese Picado and Steve Curtis.

My husband (Jon) and I are recent Oregon women's fans. Our favorite moment was deciding to drive to Seattle in 2018 to watch the Pac-12 Tournament at Key Arena. We didn't know what to expect, but wanted to be there to watch the women play. That was one of the best decision we ever made.
To watch them beat Stanford the way they did to become the Pac-12 Tournament champions was an amazing event. For the players to come up and thank all the fans that showed up to support them meant a lot to me and my husband. To stop and allow us to take a photo with them was something we will never forget.
We want to thank them and everyone in the team for helping us realize how great women's basketball is.
Rowena Ralston
How far we have come since the days when women's basketball and volleyball shared the same uniforms, sometimes on the same day! Ruthy and Sabrina have been so instrumental in building Oregon women's basketball into an elite program and deserve buildings named after them as a thank you to their talent and hard work! Bring your tissues on Senior Night as there won't be a dry eye from the fans!

To all the departing players from this year's team, 10,000 thanks. I have played and watched sports all my life and this is one of the very best teams ever. Classy attitudes, wonderfully varied backgrounds and huge talent.
Thanks to all for the tremendous season.
John Costello
I began noticing in November at the games, grandmothers bringing one or two granddaughters to the game. I thought it was because Kelly told Rob Mullens he wanted for his team to have a full house. I saw Kelly tell us all often after the game, "I want 10,000 in MKA." Kelly got what he wanted.
But to the grandmothers that wasn't the deal. The deal was, the grandmothers were bringing their precious granddaughters to see these role models. They could bring their granddaughters to see powerful, high-quality women come from Alaska, come from California, to Oregon, to show what they learned and how they were coached. They could show the granddaughters what a successful woman, as a person, can accomplish. And if any of those granddaughters go on to play basketball at an elevated level, they have the imprint of grandma showing them the powerful, quality Oregon Duck women basketball team, as an example of what they too can do.
The force of Champions flows within them both, stand back, and let them play. To the grandmothers who brought their precious granddaughters, it did not go unnoticed. I say, "You did a good thing to bring them to see these two women."

Thank you for bringing women's sports to the forefront at Oregon. I was on the track team in the mid 90's and it was nothing like it is today and that is largely in part to you two.
Thanks for taking a chance with us, because we all fell in love with you both. Keep flying in the WNBA and I can't wait to see you at the next level.

Ruthy grew up in our mutual hometown: Fairbanks, Alaska. I first saw her as a baby when her parents brought her to the summer seasonal church at Harding Lake. I watched Ruthy from a distance grow into a wonderful young lady and great athlete as she progressed her way through our local schools playing basketball. What a thrill to have her sign to play basketball for my alma mater, the UO, then watching Ruthy and Sabrina play during my trips to Eugene.
A special memory is being on the plane to Fairbanks in November of 2018 with Ruthy and the team and then watching them play to the only standing-room crowd ever against the University of Alaska Fairbanks women's team. Ruthy and Sabrina were most gracious to the hometown team and then spent time signing autographs. We heard personally from local team members about how friendly the UO women were and how much they learned from them. Ruthy and Sabrina are outstanding ambassadors for the UO, for women's basketball and for their hometown cities and states.
A number of times our daughter and family who live in Lake Oswego have attended games and women's team events. Ruthy and Sabrina have been most gracious talking to and taking photos with our two grandchildren.
Go Ruthy and Go Sabrina. You are both remarkable young women and deserve the best life has to offer in your future ventures and adventures.

I only started attending games after Sabrina and Ruthy began playing for Oregon. Now I will continue to attend because I know it is a good program and will continue to develop. Ruthy and Sabrina made the game exciting to watch — not just the winning, but the play. Thank you.

Both make everyone associated with U of O so proud. They represent us all so well as athletes and competitors.
However, their true contributions come from depth of character. Every action and every communication clearly exemplifies humility, a spirit of service, kindness, resilience and team spirit. Wishing both lives filled with health, happiness and success.
I hope that Minyon Moore receives recognition as well. She has added so much. Minyon may be new to the system but she has brought energy and determination that we all appreciate and admire. Thanks to her for making the difference that just may make the dream of a national championship so much closer to a reality.

It has been great to see women's basketball soar to new heights. So glad we bought season tickets for 2019-20! So marvelous to see unselfish play by all, but especially Sabrina to both Ruthy and Satou. WNBA will be exciting to follow the next couple years with so many top Ducks playing.

I am a long-time Oregon women's basketball fan, having started attending games in the early 80s, with our young children. Ruthy and Sabrina brought a new level of excitement to Oregon basketball. Although unable to attend many games due to disabilities and other health issues (and the fact that we now no longer live in Eugene... we moved to Sweet Home in retirement), we schedule our weeks this time of the year around the Ducks' schedule so that we NEVER miss a game. It has been thus for the past four years.
Both of these women (along with their teammates) show a level of class and competitiveness like no team I have ever seen. It is bittersweet that they are now seniors and about to leave. These two young women are such wonderful role models and great individuals. It has been an honor to watch them grow and develop over these past four seasons.
Best of luck to both as they move onto their respective futures. They are special beyond words.
Gary Jarvis, Sweet Home Oregon
You two play with pure joy. Thanks for letting us share the joy.
Much love from Pam and Rita
We are long-time UO women's basketball fans and we have never seen anything like the chemistry that Sabrina and Ruthy have. We love the pick and roll and they play it to perfection, and Ruthy has improved her range too. It is so wonderful to see two basketball stars who have the numbers they have and also the grace and humility. We could not pick out one moment to remember, but just the wonderful four years they have given the program.
Richard and Michele van Pelt

The word that comes to mind when I think of you is joy. I have never felt more joy in sports than watching the two of you together these past four seasons.
Before you came to us basketball was just a sport. You elevated that sport to a level I never thought I would see. You see it looking around Matt Knight Arena on game night. Each game you bring something special; something we had not seen before. You see the joy on fans' faces and you feel it in the air.
I will cry when you are gone because the emotion is strong. It will be hard to see you go but I will remain filled with joy remembering what you gave to us.
Leilani Norman
You two are absolutely the best! Thank you for all you have given us. It's been a great ride!! Go Ducks!!!
Deb Dotters
Two years ago we moved here from Coos Bay. My daughter was just getting into basketball, so we figured, why not put her in the women's Duck basketball camp? That day Zoey got to do drills and experience one-on-one time with the great Sabrina. Ever since then she has been our family's favorite athlete ,behind Kobe Bryant.
Frankie Huson
Your lives as fighting Oregon Duck ballers have changed the course for women in ways yet to be seen and understood; for basketball because of your extraordinary talent, combo passes and record-breaking playing; and for our University in general.
Too many words to express, but THANK YOU must suffice. Thank you so much! One of my favorite memories of you two are when the two of you would hug each other while hopping up and down wildly screaming! Yes, thank you for the memories.
All bests to you both!
Kathy Gilbert
As a former high school basketball player, I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for women in basketball and in sports overall. You have both paved the road for future generations and have been the best role models for young women. Thank you both!

Sabrina and Ruthy! Ruthy and Sabrina! Two absolutely amazing student-athletes who will always be linked for putting Oregon at the top of the women's basketball national map.
Thank you so much for everything you've done to make every Ducks alumnus like myself so very, very proud! I feel so honored to have been on the official stat crew when Alison Lang, Bev Smith, and Laurie Landerholm played for the Ducks. Now, over the past four years, I've seen two young ladies break all of their records, and elevate Ducks women's basketball to levels never seen before in Eugene and the State of Oregon!
How lucky am I?
Your play and work ethic on the court are second to none! To see you play and feed off each other is beautiful to watch! Absolutely beautiful!
What can you say about your commitment off the court? The list of non-profit activities you've done over the past four years could stretch from Walnut Creek to Fairbanks! Incredible!
Sabrina: The way you handled yourself last Monday in front of over 20,000 mourners was so truly amazing and from the heart! Wow!!
I can't wait to see the both of you play these last 11 games for the Ducks!! It truly will be a treasure! And, to see you cut down the nets in Eugene, Las Vegas, Portland, and finally New Orleans! The City of New Orleans is called "the Big Easy". We all know there will a ton of hard work done to win a National Championship and it won't be easy! But, I can't think of two better women than Sabrina and Ruthy, Ruthy and Sabrina, that will do everything they possibly can to realize that dream!
Thank you again and Go Ducks!

In 2016 you took a chance on Oregon.
Freshman year your coming out party surprised us all.
Sophomore year you answered all the expectations.
Junior year you made history.
Senior year you left a legacy.
Thanks for raising the bar
Best. Duo. Ever.

Some of my favorite memories of you two are the times when, after a great game, you were caught on camera hugging each other, jumping up and down, smiling, laughing and wildly screaming with JOY! Thank you so much for all your obvious drive and commitment, for your tenacious teamwork and for your love of the game. That same love showed strong in your love for one another and for your fans. It was a gift to all of us who love you back and had the pleasure of watching you play UO basketball. May God richly bless all of your future dreams and endeavors!
Thank you so much...

Ruthy and Sabrina's impact on Oregon women's basketball will forever be the standard of excellence that every young woman entering the program will strive to achieve. Their continual hard work, friendship, dedication, and unselfish play will live on as other Oregon women take the torch those two ladies help light.
Let's face it. A few years ago only a handful of people watched Oregon women's basketball. Now, the Oregon women's basketball games are one of the hottest tickets in town, and those two are largely responsible for that! That excitement has carried well beyond Oregon. As a diehard Oregon fan it is very rewarding to hear all the star athletes around the country gushing about Sabrina, Ruthy and the Oregon women's basketball team! Go Ducks!!!
One of my favorite memories out of the hundreds they've provided came at the end of the third quarter against Arizona. Sabrina hit the fade-away three-pointer to beat the buzzer and Ruthy ran over, picked her up and twirled her around. The smile on both of their faces said it all. They have such a genuine love for each other and an infectious joy for the game.
Tom Turner
First, I must confess I am 80 so I have an interesting experience. I had two years of high school in Bagley, Wisc., and there were no sports for girls. But across the Mississippi in Iowa, they had basketball for girls. It was halfcourt play, but they got to play. My Iowa player friend became an All-American player.
We had no women's basketball team when I attended U of O.
But our family was living in Oregon City in the 90's, the halcyon days of girl's basketball. In fact, I was on the Oregon City Commission and as president of our Oregon City Improvement Trust, we provided funding for Brad Smith and Carl Tinsley's End of The Oregon Trail Summer Tournament. Those high school teams elevated our pride in our little city.
Because of this, my son Justin became manager for the Oregon State women's team. And from that experience, we (I say we because I visited wherever he worked) began a journey of schools and communities. We even got to Germany.
So I have seen a lot of games and the evolution of women's basketball and there is absolutely no doubt that the achievements of Sabrina, Ruthy and other members of the Duck team have significantly altered the respect for WBB. My son endured derision for being a guy working in the field so as a mom it's nice to see RESPECT for what women have achieved.

How can you not love Sabrina and Ruthy? They are the epitome of teammates — inspiring, aggressive and unselfish athletes, smart players, and all this with integrity and incredible sportsmanship! Thank you, both, for inspiring us all to pass the ball when someone else has a better shot, and to take the shot when it isn't the easiest thing to do! You two make it all look easy, with grace and two great smiles!
Thank you! What a sweet tandem career you've shared with us! You make me and my husband proud to be Duck fans! We love you two, and will miss you! GO DUCKS!!!

Dear Sabrina and Ruthy,
Thank you for the endless entertainment and passion you show on the court. You've made me look forward to every women's game. I love watching your faces after making a big move in the game and hearing the crowd match your energy.
I wish I could've watched you both all of my four years, but you will be truly missed next year. I feel honored to be a fellow Duck alongside you guys and can't wait to see wait you do in the
future.

Thank you Sabrina and Ruthy for elevating women's basketball at a local and national level.
And thank you for truly understanding what team means! Such an important lesson for all team sports and you are a class example!
Kelly Seeley
Duck Alums and Duck fans, my wife Shelly and I had never watched a women's basketball game until March 2018. That's when, on a whim, we bought tickets to the first two games of the NCAA Tournament here in Eugene.
It was love at first sight — we knew we were watching greatness in the making in Sabrina, Ruthy and the rest of the team. To paraphrase a former local sports writer, these women played basketball the way it was meant to be played. Such talent, athleticism, unselfishness, grace, and class. That team enamored me enough to follow them to the regional in Spokane, where we lost to Notre Dame in the Elite Eight.
We bought season tickets for 2018-19 as soon as they went on sale. We attended every home game, travelled to Corvallis for the Civil War, and travelled to Portland for the Regional. We renewed our season tickets for 2019-20, and bought tickets to the Final Four in New Orleans for this April months ago, as soon as we could. Sabrina, Ruthy and the rest of the team have turned us into women's basketball fans, and that will continue after they move on from the UO.
See you in New Orleans! Go Ducks!
Jens Schmidt
Before Title IX and before women's sports, I spent my days in U of O PE-facilities. Training in sports, teaching sports and competing, I have never been prouder of Duck athletes! Ruthy loping back down the floor, with her great, strong strides and Sabrina charging forward, head up, surveying the entire floor. Those two visions play over and over in my minds eye.
You two, your entire team and a classy coach have propelled women's sports forward, as never before. What a time to be a Duck, to follow ALL the amazing sports accomplishments and to know there is more to come. We will be watching with pride.
Bleeding green...

Dear Sabrina and Ruthy,
Congratulations on your successful years at the University of Oregon. You broke records on the basketball court. You excelled in the classroom. You make us proud to be Ducks!
You'll be in our hearts forever!
Go Ducks!
Richard and Carol Yetter
Just want to say that it's been such a privilege to watch such dedicated athletes play on the Oregon women's basketball team. You've continually worked to improve your games and your shots. We, the fans, will miss the chemistry between the two of you.
We wish you both the very best the future has to offer and we know you will never settle for less than the best you can give!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Dan & Shelly Lyman

Sabrina and Ruthy,
No one can teach chemistry between two people. Coming from different backgrounds you have come together as sisters sharing the same passion to play the game you love to the very best of your abilities. You have been there to help each other through the highs and lows both on and off the court.
As Ducks fans we have been blessed by your presence and the way you have respectfully and humbly represented our nation, our state, your/our university, your team, and those of us lucky enough to have journeyed with you during your four years at Oregon. In return all we can find to say is "thank you," which seems very trite for all you've given us. God Bless you and may every happiness and success be yours in the coming years. You will be forever welcome in Duck Nation.
With Gratitude and Love--GO DUCKS

As a UO faculty member I couldn't be prouder of how they represent our campus.
As a coach for my daughter's basketball team, I appreciate how they've elevated the women's game.
And as a basketball fan I'm blown away by how the big expectations of their freshman year have been so thoroughly exceeded.
Dev Sinha
I cannot express how much fun it is to watch you two young women play ball at U of O. The skill and genuine enjoyment that you have for the game is contagious to all.
I wish you both happiness and success in your future endeavors, but most of all, I wish for you to continue to have fun!
Beverlee Workman
I have never been a sports fan. I grew up in an age where one could only see men playing, and I couldn't relate. There were no serious women's sports of any kind in those days.
Then last year I heard about the Duck women's basketball team, so I went to a home game early last season and was immediately in love. I watched both Sabrina and Ruthy especially, and I thought, "These are women playing their own game and not trying to compete or be like men." It was so refreshing and empowering. This is a model for women, not just in basketball, but in life!
We bought season tickets this year and my husband and I have come to every home game and stood outside for two hours in order to get seats where I could see these women's faces. We have our T-shirts and are now solid fans. The members of the team will change but the energy will be building on what these two women started.
Thank you both!
Kaya Singer
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. Both of you have exemplified strong, determined women. You have served as role models for girls and young women. Your strength and determination has shown a new generation of girls that hard work and dedication is a winning combination. Your love for team and each other is very obvious and has served you and U of O well. It has shown that most goals can be accomplished with the help of your team/family.
May your new path be wonderful and fulfilling.
Lynn and Roger Stapes
Dear Sabrina and Ruthy,
My sister and brother-in-law moved here from Ohio four years ago. Up to that point, I had never been able to interest them in any sports. In the past two years, they have become your ardent fans and attend games when possible or watch you play on TV. I have you to thank for that!
As Purdue alumni, I never thought I'd share allegiance with another school, but we "adopted" the Ducks in 1975 when we moved here and started attending women's basketball in 2002 when we retired. It's been a real pleasure to see what you have done for the sport here in Oregon and around the nation. Thanks for being outstanding role models and for giving Duck fans a great four years of memories. We will miss you terribly but look forward to your next years in the WNBA!
Charlotte and Ted Sexton
Goosebumps and tears. That's what I feel every time I attend a UO women's basketball game this season.
Watching the crowd grow throughout the last four years has been remarkable. And what a great time to be raising two teenage girls! Ruthy and Sabrina have brought strength, determination, talent, and class to the UO program. You have created something lasting and incredibly special.
At my 13 year-old daughter's games, it's common to hear things like, "did you see that Sabrina pass?" or "that girl goes up strong like Ruthy" or "that was a great Satou spin!" What an honor it has been to watch these young women grow personally and on the court.
We all remember our college years, but thanks to Sabrina and Ruthy, we will remember theirs. It looks like we will now become WNBA fans. And Sabrina, thanks for that Costco selfie with my girls! You will always have a home in Eugene.
Andria Martin
Season-ticket holder, big fan, and mother of two teenage girls
I am the proud mom of a senior Duck and a freshman Bronco (we tried to get two Ducks!). Growing up, I was, at best, a mediocre athlete. do still remember when my fourth-grade team the Firebirds made it to the Southern California championship and we all got to go to Disneyland. For me, sports was about hanging with my friends and getting oranges at halftime and for some inexplicable reason, a soda after the game.
As the mom of two girls who were really into sports, it was evident the times had changed. Youth sports was more serious and sophisticated, starting at a really early age. I will admit I got suckered in and spent more money than we should, but won't trade any of the memories.
I remember the basketball games at my girls' high school. The turnout was always about 30 percent for the girls compared to the boys. It was clear that while female sports had evolved, male sports still dominated. I held that in my head.
In 2019 I went with my girls to an Oregon women's basketball game and it was sold out! I expressed my surprise and both of my kids did not know what I was talking about. They said, essentially, "we are ranked No. 6 in the country. We have the best college basketball player — male or female. Why wouldn't the game be sold out?" And aren't they right?
A huge thanks to Sabrina, Ruthy, Satou and the amazing Kelly Graves (we live in Spokane so have enjoyed him for years) for their part in making female sports normalized. Of course they would sell out! They are amazing athletes.
We are sad to see our family's U of O time come to an end. It's a special place and what a year they have had. It's clear it's not about the Rose Bowl win or the women's basketball ride. It says more about the people and the institution.
Thank you,
Erica Hallock
Mom of Gillian Hallock, U of O, Class of 2020
Ruthy and Sabrina, thank you for these past four years that you have poured your hearts and souls into to make Oregon Duck women's basketball so enjoyable and absolutely thrilling and unifying as a community. Thank you especially for returning for your senior years to help accomplish the "unfinished business" we all hope for.
You are a gift to us all that we will never forget. We wish you continued success in the WNBA and in the rest of your inspiring lives.
Jim and Colleen Fitzgibbons
I had the pleasure of teaching my 5-year-old grandson the names of Ruthy and Sabrina while watching one of their NCAA wins in 2018. Then last year in Portland I excitedly gave my family the news that the Ducks had made it to the Final Four. This year I will be in New Orleans and fully expect to see this team, with Sabrina and Ruthy at the helm, play there.
I am not a born sports fan. What attracts me to this team is their work ethic, the way they work together for a common goal and their support for each other. The departing players, Sabrina, Ruthy, Satou and Minyon, all embody this. When Matt Knight arena is packed to the rafters night after night it is impossible to ignore how these young women and their teammates have pulled this community together. At a time when it feels as if our country is falling apart, coming to Matt Knight Arena is the perfect antidote. There is simply no other place I would rather be!
Thank you for showing us what is possible when you passionately strive together. Rock on, sisters.
Joan Rawlings-Boyd
It has been so fun to watch Sabrina and Ruthy these last four years!
I have a been a long time women's basketball fan. When they first started as freshmen, there were the loyal women's fans, but it has been exciting to see the fan base grow as they have progressed!
Thank you so much! You have impacted us all! You are both such a strong example of hard work, determination, grace and integrity! You will be missed. Best wishes in your future adventures. Sincerely, Susan Wright
It's hard to find a place to start with this. How do you sum up the dynasty that you two (and all the other wonderful women on this team) have created? I have never felt a passion for a team that I have felt for this team. I've celebrated with you, cried with you, and supported wherever you have been.
To Sabrina,
There aren't really words to describe your career here at Oregon. You have created a movement for women's basketball not just in Oregon but nationwide. The recognition you get from all the top players in the
world from the WNBA and NBA is more than deserved. To me, you're a superhuman. The strength you show in everyday life and on the court, no matter what is going on, is something for anyone to aspire to. The first
women's game I ever went to, you got ANOTHER triple-double, and from then on I haven't missed a single home game (and some away games). I wish you all the luck in the WNBA and I can't wait to drive wherever I
need to just to see you play in person more, because it's an experience that one truly cannot describe.
To Ruthy,
You really are a silent killer. The paint is yours and no one can stop you when you have the ball in your hands. It seems like when I'm watching any of the games, one second you have five points and the next you
have 25 points. You are the most reliable forward a team can have and watching you is something else. Thank you for blessing us by joining this team four years ago and I can't wait to see you in the WNBA killing it
more.
Love,
Nicolle Swanson
For me, it's just the absolute beauty of the pick-and-roll, raising sport to an art form. They do it so many ways and it's just beautiful. Thank you for that.

Three years ago our friends kept telling us how great the Oregon women's basketball team was. They treated us to a game and we went to several more, loving the energy of the team and the fans.
Two years of season tickets later, and part of the Huddle, we are hooked. Ruthy and Sabrina have a sports bond like no other, so wonderful to watch. We're very happy they chose Oregon, and will miss them dearly. We are increasing our two season tickets for next year to four or maybe six so we can bring more friends to the greatest game in town. Thank you also to Coach Graves.
Bill Schrieber
Aside from giving appreciation and thank-you's to Sabrina and Ruthy for bringing their athletic gifts to Oregon, I most admire them and each one of their teammates for their comportment, class and character in representing Oregon athletics in the very best possible way.
They teach team-first, not me-first attitudes. Thank all of you for a wonderful four years.
Nick and Deeanne Workhoven
I haven't played in a basketball game in years, and yet, Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu have been two of my biggest sources of inspiration recently. As a UO student, it is quite clear that they are not only leading our basketball team, but leading the community as well. They are showing each person who sets foot on campus, who watches a game at Matt Knight, or who just happens to see a clip or headline about our team what it means to be a Duck.
It means to set an example for your peers, to do the right thing even when no one is watching, and to convey, by both words and actions, that you are looking out for your fellow Ducks. Perhaps most strikingly, these two women know what it means to work hard. You don't hear about them partying, you don't hear about them acting up on social media, you hear about their determination. You hear about their dedication to the game.
Athletes like Hebard and Ionescu provide inspiration and motivation beyond just their sport. They are role models for hard work and perseverance in any setting. The leadership and unparalleled work ethic that Hebard and Ionescu radiate is palpable, both on and far beyond the basketball court.

Ruthy & Sabrina:
I'm VERY thankful that you both chose to be Ducks. You've meshed beautifully, and have brought UO women's basketball into the national spotlight, also helping us recruit more top players for the future.
RUTHY: When you were out with an injury last year, we missed you terribly and the team went downhill. You've been SO valuable. And I'll always remember your big BEAUTIFUL smile and gentle nature. You're also from my birthplace—Fairbanks, AK. So you get points for that, too. :)
SABRINA: You have been the single biggest factor in turning the program around….and I'm SO glad that you chose to play here. You're not only a "generational player," but seem to be a woman of high character as well….and are a team player. I love it when you come to volleyball matches, and are swarmed by kids who look up to you so much…and I'll look over and see some kid sitting in your lap :) You've always been very gracious with your time—having your photo taken, or whatever.
Despite your greatness on the court...you've both maintained a healthy dose of humility, and have been great role models for all of the young ladies coming up.
We'll miss you terribly, but know that there's great things in your futures.
THANKS SO MUCH!!
And GOD BLESS YOU both….REALLY!! :)

I am new to UO and had never watched women's basketball before buying tickets during this incredible season. Your energetic spirits and amazing athleticism have made me a forever-fan of this sport!
Thank you!

To Sabrina, Ruthy and Satou-
There's a lot in the news these days about college campuses, especially what 'they' are against. Watching you play, listening to you speak, and hearing your priorities, it's clear what you are for. You demonstrate that you are for the team, your teammates, your families and your friendships. Your leadership and dedication to continual growth are exciting, inspiring, and a model for women young and old.
Thank you,
Barb and Paul Brenner

What a memorable four seasons – it will change the face of women's and girls' basketball forever.
The standard is no longer the one-and-done, ego-dominated example set by male basketball. A whole new generation of players – both male and female — will be challenged to emulate the qualities that you, Sabrina and Ruthy, and your teammates have demonstrated – teammates above self, commitment to a common goal, dedication to a work ethic and a generous and kind spirit. That is what winning is all about.
On behalf of the scores of girls I have coached over the past two decades, I am ever grateful to you.
Bill Goldsmith
To Sabrina and Ruthy:
I have tried to watch as many games as I could during your careers in Eugene. Unfortunately, all on television. I have never been to Matt Court. I would have loved to have been able to take some pictures and hang out for an autograph!
Through your skills, determination to win and commitment to teamwork you have provided an unmatched experience for fans of Oregon women's basketball. You are both a credit to your families, your friends, your fans and your University. You will both be greatly missed by all.
You have been both an inspiration for and an example to follow by the younger players joining the team after you. Also, to young girls and boys that want to pursue the sport of basketball.
Best wishes to both of you as you embark on the next chapter of your personal and professional lives.
God bless you and Go Ducks!

My first thought is WOW!
I have followed women's basketball for decades. Bev Smith was always on top until the arrival of Sabrina Ionescu, who had skills we had never seen before and the determination of a war hero. She made everyone around her better, and it wasn't long before we were all singing the praises of Ruthy Hebard too. Those two lifted the bar with their freshman catapult to the Elite Eight. We ALL know they amassed statistics that were hard to believe. Their precision and grace has everyone talking about the "best pick and roll" in not just Women's basketball but ALL OF BASKETBALL.
It has been a Mount Everest ride as these ladies managed to generate a rise to greatness the University of Oregon has ever seen. This duo has blown fans away myself included. The staff and players all stepped up to give us thrilling, heart-felt, athletic dominance I could have never dreamed of right here in Eugene, Oregon.
Four years has gone so fast, but I suspect Oregon will continue this amazing trek into the Division-I women's basketball elite year after year built on what Sabrina and Ruthy have started. Look out, women's basketball fans, there is much more to this story.
What Sabrina and Ruthy started is just the beginning.
Be prepared for more sold out arenas. Expect to leave even earlier to get a parking spot.
More "WOW" is coming to the University of Oregon. Just Watch!

GO DUCKS!
You have brought joy to me and to our little state. I love the concentration of Ionescu, Ruthy's smile, Boley's three pointers when she is on and Sabally's coming through against Stanford. I have always loved basketball but am ancient and played half court (a guard) and was always frustrated being allowed to only dribble three times and stop in the middle of the court.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for staying another year and I hope you reach your well deserved goal.
As to Kobe's loss, I can't help but picture him and the others with smiles for a job well done.
Marcia Daneman
Wow!! What an INCREDIBLE four years you have brought us as Duck Fans!! You have gone about everything on and off the court with Grace and Class and Integrity and Poise!! You have both made us PROUD to call ourselves Duck Fans!! Every time we have seen you in the community, you have flashed those Winning Smiles and made us feel like FAMILY!!! We will be following you EVERY STEP OF THE WAY the next few weeks as you take care of unfinished business! Thank you for the privilege of being able to cheer you on!! We also look forward to following your successful basketball careers over these next several years and can't wait to see you back in Eugene and at MKA when you come back "home".
Much Love!!
Jim and Bebe Gimarelli
I have rarely gone to University of Oregon athletic events. Three years ago I began to read about the University of Oregon women's basketball team and went to a few games.
I was sold; last year and this year my wife and I got season tickets to see this great team play basketball. I, like many others, saw greatness and class, and for the price of a ticket could not miss Sabrina and Ruthy in action on the basketball court. We are not alone; before this class, attendance at UO women's basketball games averaged perhaps a thousand fans a game.
As Kelly Graves said, we may not see another Sabrina here at UO in our lifetimes.
Robert Watada
I am a proud Lady Duck fan! Watching the two of you grow from young 18-year-old girls to confident, fierce, dominant, beast-mode women has been a true joy.
My favorite moment, and I do have many, is during the February home game against Arizona. After a mediocre first half, and after my friend and I discussed during half time, in depth, how they needed to get the ball inside, Ruthy, you went off. I believe you had nine straight points. Yes it was fun to watch and cheer for you and the team but glancing over at your mom after every point and looking at the proud parent expression on her face honestly brought tears to my eyes. As proud as I am as a crazy Duck fan your mom honestly takes it to the next level. As a 54-year-old mother of two myself I could relate in so many ways.
You both inspire me and it's been a true honor these last four seasons. Go raise some havoc in the WNBA and know we will all be watching and cheering from afar.

When Oregon wooed Coach Graves away from Gonzaga, who then proceeded to build the Oregon women's basketball program by landing the likes of Sabrina, Ruthy and all those wonderful young women who shared his dream of building a powerhouse program at UO, I recall thinking to myself, "something special is happening here!" Well, it has been special!
It has been a delight watching Sabrina and Ruthy over these past four years. They represent everything that is great about women's sports and are a true inspiration to all of us. We will miss both of them dearly. Thank you for the memories Sabrina and Ruthy!

I remember playing basketball as a young girl, and the world told me that unless you were Candace Parker or the UConn women's program, you were irrelevant. You two have changed that.
I am so proud to be a member of your graduating class at the UO. The two of you have permanently changed what it means to be a female athlete. We are equally strong, brave, athletic and smart. Our game can be just as — if not more — entertaining.
I've loved getting to see my friends and family become invested in women's athletics through your performances. Thank you for staying, for inspiring the next generation of women and for knowing that you being on the court means so much more than just basketball. Out of all the incredible athletics we've witnessed in the last four years from a Rose Bowl victory to a men's Final Four run, I will treasure what you
two did the most.
Thank you so much. I cannot wait to support the rest of your careers.
Best,
Brooklynn Loiselle
This is a salute to two young women, one from Fairbanks, Alaska, and one from Walnut Creek, California. This unlikely duo met in Eugene, Oregon, and gave me and my fellow fans and supporters an absolutely wonderful four years of delightful athletic competition.
It has been quite a ride and through it all they have managed to keep their grateful, humble attitude. They should be most proud of the influence that they have had on many young boys and girls that love them to death.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Morgan, a member of Daisy Ducks
This was the year. I was there when you made the Final Four. I knew going into this season that this year was going to be special and I didn't want to miss out! Living in Seattle didn't stop me from buying season tickets. So, every other weekend this year, I have driven the 4½ hours each way from Seattle to watch you play in person. That's how inspiring both of you are…who wouldn't want to be a part of it? After all, there was unfinished business that needed to get done.
It was the last four years of watching the two of you play that made me a fan of women's basketball. Thank you for the example you have set not only for women's athletics but for us all. And this isn't the end. There's no doubt that you will go on to accomplish great things both personally and professionally.
All the best to both of you!
Sara Bickerstaff
Sabrina & Ruthy,
Thank you for the four-year rise of women's basketball at UO...for the cohesiveness of two teammates, whether it's a screen or a bounce pass...for the ability to go right or left...for the hustle and passion...for being exemplary both on and off the court...for laying the foundation for the future.
Rick Laursen
The success of our women's sports programs, specifically basketball, has impacted and galvanized not just our local community, but our region and our nation. Strong, athletic, articulate role models for a nation of little girls with dreams of becoming a "Ruthy, or a "Sabrina". Seeing No. 20 jerseys on children and adults, male and female is the norm now and not the exception.
The women of Oregon Basketball will likely continue deep into the NCAA Tournament and hopefully win it all, and we'll celebrate them as they deserve. Beyond that, they've already influenced generations of girls and women to believe that they too can pursue their dreams and excel and be appreciated for their work ethic, determination and athletic skills and accomplishments.
As a former physical educator, prior to Title IX, I too can see a realization of my own dreams of equity and those I had for my student athletes.
Sabrina and Ruthy are unique talents, and individually and collectively display all the traits of winners — on the court and in life.
You'll be missed, but not forgotten.
Sharon Knight
It has been a sweet ride watching the two of you and your entire team the past four years. You have made Oregon women's basketball the hottest ticket in Eugene! I am looking forward to watching you in person at the Pac-12 Championship tournament and will be rooting for you and the entire team as you make your bid for a national championship!
Thank you for all your hard work, as it can be grueling being a student-athlete.
All the best to both of you! Your futures look very bright!

Where to begin. There is something magical about these ladies. Beyond their special athletic skills, they are selfless, loyal to each other and the rest of the team. They have helped all the other girls rise and play perhaps beyond their abilities. The special chemistry of this year's team and last year's team is obvious. The have been a pleasure to watch.
Ruthy, your smile is amazing. I love to watch you under the basket. You are so kind to your youngest fans.
Satou, you have grown so much since the first time I saw you play. You look like and sound like a pro!
Sabrina, you are so humble and tenacious at the same time. I can't wait to follow your career in the pros. Leadership is in your blood.
If one could see the future, having any of you return to Oregon one day as our coach would be amazing. I wish you all the very best and thank you for giving us your best!
Marsha Cullop

Dear Ruthy,
It was wonderful to meet you last spring at Jo's retirement party, and what an enormous pleasure it has been watching you from the stands these last four years. When you were just getting started in your freshman season, I asked Jillian Alleyne if she thought you would be stepping into her shoes as the powerhouse forward on the team. She smiled and asked why. I told her it was because you seemed so fierce at the post. She laughed and said, "Yes, but she has so much more confidence than I ever did as a freshman."
That confidence has only grown and your game has developed beyond imagination, with the national recognition you deserve. But what I have loved most is the joy you have shared with us. The amazing smile that appears as you're playing is so special. Thank you for sharing your talent, and your joy. I'll be watching you in the WNBA!
Karen McLaughlin
I had never been interested in women's athletics until Ruthy and Sabrina's freshman year, but I've been hooked since. We are a Duck family with both daughters and my wife alums. My youngest daughter is just finishing up at Oregon and the big joke is she had a Sabrina sighting at a U of O restroom….a brush with a superstar in an unlikely setting.
This entire U of O team has transformed the way I view women's athletics because I didn't know what I was missing. We don't miss a game; even when half way around the world we watch on our iPads, usually in the middle of the night. Thanks for waking us up, good job and the best of luck as they pursue their basketball dreams and personal lives. Go Ducks!!
Mike Meyer
In March 2017 I happened to notice the Oregon women's basketball game on TV and started watching it. I had never watched a single women's game prior. I was really excited about watching a hometown girl playing in the NCAA Tournament; that girl was Lexi. Little did I know I was also watching a woman that would be the greatest basketball player in college, and also watching another record breaking player.
Sabrina and Ruthy and the whole Duck women's team have been so much fun to watch the past few years. Thank you all for picking our great college! Can't wait to be there in person for senior day! Tissues will be in hand!
Shirley Moody
Dear Ruthy and Sabrina,
Our family has loved watching you two stars grow during the last few years. We went from being frequent attendees with our two daughters to season-ticket holders this season and beyond, and we look forward to continuing to attend games to watch the Ducks women's brand continue to grow.
You two have left an incredible legacy, and your leadership on and off the court has been remarkable – you are wonderful role models. You have both left us with so many great basketball memories, and you do something special every time we see you on the court. More importantly, Ruthy, you have shown us amazing composure as you anchor this team and provide such steady leadership no matter the circumstances. Sabrina, you are a generational talent, and we love that you embrace that opportunity to have an impact beyond your team and sport. You have shown such incredible poise this season in the spotlight, leading your team, and under heartbreak that has had our family crying (and laughing – thank you for that) with you.
We cannot wait to see what you two do as you launch your careers on an incredible trajectory!
Sincerely,
Darren Johnson and Christine Gramer
Hi Sabrina and Ruthy…
Congratulations on this Senior Day Weekend. I know there is more in store for you two and the team, but this weekend is a good time to reflect on the four great years of Oregon women's basketball that you have devoted your lives too. Although you are great players, I am much more impressed with your character and enthusiasm for the game, the university and the basketball community. If you think about it, you two have established a culture for the Oregon team, but more importantly, for young people that want to play the game of basketball.
I will always remember you as a team, Sab and Ruthy - Ruthy and Sab. I will remember Sabrina's toughness and determination and I will remember Ruthy's smile…the smile that lights up a room or gym.
Thank you so very much,

Sabrina and Ruthy,
THANK YOU! As a born and raised Duck, I never would have believed any of this was possible. Growing up and going to games at Mac, I had the pick of seats, anywhere. Now I have to stand in line hours before a game to fight for GA seats; I wouldn't trade it for anything. To go from 1,500 fans on a good day to sold out over 12,000 regularly is incredible, and it's because you all are putting on a show, the best show.
When UConn came to town back in 2012, though I'm a die-hard Duck, I went to see them. Now, people are showing up to your road games to see Oregon. We're that team now, because of you. You two are inspiring, not just to all the young kids out there. You are inspiring to all of us former female athletes who have hung up our jerseys but still love the game. You are fighting the fight, the fight that (dare I quote you, Sabrina?), "…where being born female does not mean being born behind." It's that same fight that Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Megan Rapinoe, all of them, have been fighting. And you're doing it by being bad-ass on the court.
As you progress to the WNBA, you'll have even more opportunities to add your voice to this fight. Don't stop. Keep pushing. Keep proving everyone wrong. Hold on to your faiths, keep fighting the Good Fight. Thanks for the history!
Julia Wright
We have been sporadic women's basketball fans over the years, but often we were out enjoying winter sports during basketball season. Now, long since retired and slowing down physically, we have found a new joy during winter: UO women's basketball season-ticket holders.
We are so fortunate and appreciative to have been able to experience your careers, two great players playing together at Oregon. We have enjoyed watching both you improve your games during your careers. You have shown what hard work, focus, persistence, cooperation, intelligence, grace, poise and humility can do to make your team great, with games that are thrilling and exciting. We will never forget the Sabrina to Ruthy pick and roll! You continually amaze us with your skill and cunning
You and your teammates have packed the pit and proved to our state, nation, and even the world, that women and girls deserve respect, equality and the opportunity to achieve their dreams. We know you will both continue to do great things in basketball, and, more importantly, in life. Thanks for all the memories. You will remain in our hearts forever.

Sabrina and Ruthy,
What a duo you two are for women's basketball. I love coming to your games and watching you two play together, along with the rest of your teammates. Such fun!! I have also enjoyed being a part of the team who puts together the snack bags to send you off on your road games.
We will miss you so much next year. We wish you the best in the WNBA. In the meantime, we are cheering for you to become NCAA champions! I will be in New Orleans to cheer for you.
Go Ducks!!

In 1960 girls basketball had three players on offense and three on defense. They weren't allowed to cross mid court. In the 1980s while coaching a YMCA second-grade girls basketball team the boys team we played was allowed to bring in a fourth-grader because the boys would feel bad losing to girls. It's no wonder I'm in awe of Sabrina's & Ruthy's exceptional athleticism, talent, skill, determination and character. They forever changed what I imagined was possible. Also impressive are so many parents bringing their enthusiastic children to the games.
Bless you Sabrina & Ruthy,
Thomas Santee
For four years we have been blessed with watching the two of you pick-and-roll, score basket after basket, and most of all, play with all your heart. From Sabrina's buzzer-beating three-pointer at Cal your freshman year to the spectacular shows you have put on this year, we have lived the game through you.
Sixty years ago I learned to love the game of basketball playing with the boys in my neighborhood. Imagine going to school then and being told you could be either one of two forwards or guards stuck at opposite ends of the court, or a rover who got to go to both ends. Sounds awful but at least I was fortunate to have a coach who arranged games for us with other area high schools.
In college in the early 70's the rules finally changed to playing 5-on-5. I played for a small Division-III school and we travelled to other colleges to play by station wagon. It was a life-changing experience. I hope your four years here have been that for you both and the friendships you've made will survive the test of time.
Watching you and your teammates has been incredibly special. Thank you both for coming to the U of O and playing the game many of us love with a passion. You have inspired us all with your unselfish play and teamwork. It has been a joy to share your successes and we will be cheering you on in your career in the years to come, wherever life may take you. Find a way to keep your passion alive and know that we love you guys and wish you all the very best! You will always have a home here in Eugene and a special place in our hearts.
Deb Gilmer
One of my favorite memories is seeing Ruthy and Sabrina play against Team USA at Matthew Knight Arena. Sitting in the front row behind the basket, Ruthy came right up to me to come talk with some young fans. She was so nice and sweet to the little girls sitting next to us. In that same game Sabrina was very impressive on the court and didn't let the Olympic players intimidate her.
I've only been living in Eugene for three years now, but as a spouse of a graduate student at the UO it didn't take much to make me a big fan. Best of luck and continued success to Sabrina and Ruthy. May your WNBA careers be even more successful than your historic careers here at Oregon. Go Ducks!
Although we have never met, I feel such love, respect and admiration for your many talents. You have brought so much attention and awareness of how important women's sports are at Oregon, and your performances will attract many future players for Oregon. We have enjoyed watching your games and growth as great basketball players and great women. Your display of poise under pressure is so admirable. You are great role models for all the young women going into women's athletics.
Wishing you continued success in your last two games at Matt as well as the postseason. We will miss you both so much but you will be great WNBA players.
Karen and Clark Absher
As I've watched these two women over their U of O careers, I've been WOW'ed, like all fans, by their basketball skill development and prowess. But for me, their integrity as team players, best friends, lovers of the game, sports(wo)manship and excellent students are models for young men and women and the foundation of their leadership on and off the court. It's an honor to witness.
Thank you both!
Gay Wayman
Together Sabrina and Ruthy make smooth magic. To watch them put together, a seamless play, is a thing of beauty. Who needs superheroes? Or maybe the University of Oregon has their very own.
To watch them, along with the rest of the team, exhibit sportsmanship, confidence, leadership, grace, and power is a joy and a gift.
I want to be in "the house" built by Sabrina, Ruthy, and Coach Graves. They help us all believe in possibility. These champions of the sport are an inspiration to girls and women (as well as boys and men) everywhere.
Thanks,
Tammy
Sabrina and Ruthy,
It has been a joy seeing you both for four years.
We appreciate the amazing skill, dedication, humility, sense of team, and sense of community which both of you bring day in and day out. You are leaders in what you do, how you do it, and in how you speak. By you being you, you have had a huge impact at the UO, in Eugene, the state of Oregon, around the country, and indeed, internationally.
It is clear that your impact will be felt for a long, long time by the girls and women you have mentored, by the lives of all whom you have encountered, and through your examples which many others will see and read about. You have changed the sport by your excellence, work ethic, competitive fire, and teamwork. Also, your advocacy for equity in opportunity and support for girls and women will have far reaching effects. We are thrilled that both of you decided to come to Oregon!
We hope that you will have much success in the years to come and that you will continue your ways of helping bring others along.
Tom Dodd
Good afternoon Ruthy and Sabrina!
I know you've received a lot of accolades. I expect that the mountain of emails paying tribute to you would rival any one of the Three Sisters mountains that shine above the rest. But I just want to add mine to all the others.
You see, often times there are celebrities or stars that draw a lot of attention and become a standard of measurement. Sometimes that's a good thing, but more often there is a lot about them that is not admirable or exemplary. And frankly, we have no hope of "measuring up" to who we see them as being. I just want to thank you both, as well as your "sisters" on the team, for being shining examples to all of us of poise and grace.
Your athletic abilities are indescribable; I have no words to express how impressive you are on the court. But the great thing about you is that the goodness in you is imbedded far deeper than even basketball. Thank you for showing us to be true to ourselves, to value who we each are and what we each have to contribute to the world. You've shown us how to live our passion. To find ways to add our own personal light to the sphere in which we have individual influence.
So while we watch you play your hearts out, we want you to know that you are part of our hearts – for innumerable reasons but especially for your poise and grace. We are proud to call you "ours".
Penny Saxman
Sabrina and Ruthy,
Thank you both for choosing to come to Oregon and being great team builders, encouraging everyone and setting high standards. The past four years have been truly special and electrifying, watching Ruthy run down the court like Gail Gadot as Wonder Woman, and witnessing Sabrina's magic on the court, moving the ball everywhere it needs to go. The pick-and-roll continues to be a delight to watch, with Sabrina's often amazing passes and Ruthy's reliable layups.
You both will leave Oregon having shredded NCAA and UO records because of your spectacular skills. You inspire those who have played with you and who will continue the Oregon brand you have built. You have been great role models for all the children who want to play basketball at advanced levels. You have represented Oregon supremely well in the Pac-12 and across the U.S.
But you are more than just models for basketball. You are strong, determined, smart, skilled, poised women, who work very hard at what you do. These strengths will serve you well for all your lives, no matter what paths you pursue. Oregon basketball is better for having had you here. I will miss you both a great deal and feel so privileged to have had you in Eugene for the past four years. Blessings on you both.
Gay Kramer-Dodd
Our favorite memories of Ruthy and Sabs has been the unspoken connection they have on the court. It has been a joy to watch these girls ball. Thank you for what you have started and the foundation you have laid for the Oregon women's basketball program.
Best wishes at the next level!!
Jon LaFollette and Michele Yamanaka
It has been a privilege to watch your development, dedication and extraordinary accomplishments. Not only are you tremendously gifted athletes, you are remarkable ambassadors of women's basketball and our beloved University of Oregon. You have given Duck Nation great joy, and we are so proud of you! We'll be with you cheering you on during the postseason and throughout your respective careers. We know that even greater things are ahead for each of you.
You are in our hearts. Please keep the University of Oregon and Duck Nation in your hearts. Once a Duck, Always a Duck.

To Ruthy and Sabrina:
Way to go ladies; what a special duo you are as you play basketball with your teammates. When I played basketball in the old days, we played only half court, with restricted dribbling. What a pleasure it has given me to see young women like you reach the pinnacle of your sport, and more special to me, has been to watch how you have helped create a team.
The team we see is the best part of your accomplishments: your unselfishness, your commitment to the same goal and your encouragement of each other. As team leaders, you have established and maintained that, through good and bad games. Best of luck, and thank you for all the fun experiences. Go Ducks!
Sincerely,
Pat John
Ruthy is so beautiful with such an incredible smile. The world smiles back at you Ruthy. Your moves under the basket are as smooth as silk with pinpoint accuracy. On the court, here comes Ruthy up to the top of the key to set a screen for Sabrina who dribbled left, drawing the defense up, and there goes Ruthy toward the basket catching a bounce pass from Sabrina, Ruthy up for two more points. Best duo on the court ever.
I just remember Sabrina making a long-range three at the end of the third quarter. Unbelievable smile and so happy. Sabrina is fierce, showing a heartfelt and powerful intensity. She has inspired me to fight my cancer with this powerful intensity. Thanks Sabrina, you're a real role model.
But what I remember most is the huge hug coach Kelly gave Sabrina after the Stanford game last weekend. Plus the team's reaction when Coach Kelly came into the huddle after the game. This just shows how much LOVE there is for one another on the women's Duck basketball beam.
Ruthy and Sabrina. Thanks for you dedication and determination. Duck Nation loves you guys.
Sally Woodman
Thank you for representing the future of women, Sabrina and Ruthy. We have two girls and express to them everyday, to be who they are no matter what it is. Sabrina and Ruthy have set those standards in and outside the court. So, thank you for representing Oregon.
Kara Andrus
Ruthy and Sabrina, what great teamwork you two did. LOVE IT!
May this inspire upcoming players. The best to both of you in whatever you chose to do after you graduate.
Going to miss all the hard work you two put in playing basketball.
THANK YOU,
Louise Skirvin

Where do I begin . . . . . . . . .
These two girls — two women — have been a spectacular brightness in my life as well as many others. Watching them grow and become the two-some that they are on the court, and I'm sure off the court, has been an amazing ride. If I was experiencing sadness or hardship in my life I could always count on the women's basketball games to cheer me up.
What they have done for women's sports all around is something that will last forever. I was ecstatic to hear Sabrina was coming back this year and knew that she not only had her goals and dreams to accomplish but she also kept all of her fans in mind knowing that we wanted to watch her one more year. In fact, we don't EVER want either one of them to leave - LOL - but they will go on and do great things in the future.
I am so proud to have watched them both and so proud to be an OREGONIAN where the greatest women's basketball players come from. I wish them all the luck in the future and hope that they will return to visit from time to time.
Love ya both!!!!
Kathy Williams
I've been coming to Oregon women's basketball games for the last three years and had season tickets for the last two years. However, my favorite memory of Sabrina and Ruthy centers around a volleyball game they attended.
I was in the stands a little ways up from the team bench when several of the team came to watch and support the women's volleyball team. Quickly, young girls began to work their way toward the row where Ruthy, Sabrina, and (I think) Satou were sitting. Their goal was to take selfies with their heroes. The players obliged them, broadly smiling with each selfie. Kelly Graves sat a ways away smiling as he watched his team interact with the fans.
This spoke volumes to me about these young women players, supporting their fellow women in flight and appreciating the fans and enjoying themselves. They've earned admiration for their character as well as their skills. Both are top shelf.

Thank you Sabrina and Ruthy. Thank you for being the best Ducks on and off the court. Thank you for staying late and making sure every kid got a chance for a picture and autograph. Thank you for the hoarse voices the day after a home game. Thank you for making Oregon women's basketball what it is today.
It has been an honor and privilege to cheer you on the last four years, and we cannot wait to do it as you dominate the next level.

Thank you to this entire team for making my graduate school experience at the University of Oregon so fun. I feel really lucky to have been here since Ruthy and Sabrina's freshman year, and I'm beyond excited to watch this program continue to grow after they're gone. This team is so deserving of all of the support they get from fans home and away. It is a testament to the wonder and awe of this team that they attract so many fans even to their away games.
Like many other dedicated Ducks fans, I was waiting to get into the Civil War game in Corvallis when I learned about the helicopter crash. Gigi Bryant's passing hits particularly hard because it was so clear she was going to be a basketball legend in her own right. It's hard to imagine what her career and her father's legacy and support would have done to change the landscape for women's basketball and the WNBA. They were only just getting started.
But if there's anyone who can continue to carry that torch, it's Sabrina. She has the power and the national following to grow the game. So, to the fans who rally around this team, don't let your support for these incredible young women die out once they no longer wear a Ducks jersey. Honor the legacy they've built here by watching Sabrina, Ruthy, Minyon, and Satou in their professional basketball careers – in the WNBA or overseas – and supporting women and girls in sports.

Ruthy and Sabrina, and Satou, too:
Thank you including us on this ride. You embody greatness on and off the court. You present wonderful role models to all young women and give them something to strive for.
We have tremendously enjoyed watching you (all four years) grow your skills, maturity and basketball family. We feel like we have gotten to know you, all in four or so hours every other week. As longtime fans, this last four years have been the best ever (and we have seen the worst). All season, I have been excited for the games and go home hoarse. You have turned the game over and set the bar high. The USA game was probably the best women's basketball game I have ever seen. You showed what you are capable of.
We know you are going to have bright futures in whatever paths you take and we hope that life is really really good to you. See you at Las Vegas and Portland and we'll be watching you go all the way.
Thanks coach Kelly, for getting the ball rolling on the program. Please stay until Sabrina is ready to start coaching.

There are so many things to admire about these two women. First, and why we all go to the games, is their supreme basketball and athletic ability. They are so skilled at this game. Consider all the records, across gender and across time, they now hold
Secondly, we got to see them grow and get even more talented because they were here for all four years. And, look at what they, and the team, did for the attendance figures at Matt Arena. As to that, I appreciate the people who go to women's games (and I have season tickets to both women's and men's games). There are families, lots of children, and all ages who attend. And (we could do lots of "ands" with these two), it is special the way they mingle and interact with the fans after the game. They don't just run off the court. They circle the court, speaking to people, letting selfies be taken, giving hugs and high-fives, and applauding their audience.
We have been fortunate to be part of something special by having those two play for the University of Oregon. I wish them wonderful futures, both on the courts and off.

My family caught the bug for Oregon women's basketball the year prior to Kelly Graves being hired. Coach Graves and staff brought in a cultural change, one that prioritized connecting with fans, recruiting players with great character and basketballs skills (in that order) and an exciting brand of basketball.
Enter Sabrina and Ruthy. They have embraced and embodied the culture and expectations for this program. From the first time we saw them play and met them after a game in the autograph line, it was apparent they had the values, character traits and work ethic to be role models for young girls and women. I'm appreciative, as this experience is helping to shape the young women our 12-year-old daughter is becoming.
The smiles. There's nothing like seeing Ruthy and Sabrina smile on the sideline or after a game!
Ruthy and Sabrina, thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being role models. Thank you for building the foundation of a program which is exciting and fun. Continue being who you are as you move forward into the next phase of life

Thank you for this opportunity:
We have been part of the women's Duck Nation for 20-plus years. You learn to expect the good with the bad, lean years and some with moderate progress. You two have set the bar higher than the norm — yet achievable. Both of you are very basketball savvy and so much fun to watch. If you enjoy Basketball as a fan, then watching you two interact with your team is pure joy. Sharing IS caring and a team-first attitude shares the burden.
Since you were freshmen you both showed the potential for greatness, yet the reality of being human. Yes, learning from your mistakes has made YOU both better and YOUR teammates. It truly has been a "FANTASTIC " ride these past four years. You two young women will move on to bigger, better and different things. Life will happen, but no matter where you go or what you do—always remember to "BE YOU". Duck Nation will miss you but never forget you!!
With love and admiration,
Brad & Cindy Mumau ~ GO DUCKS!!
What an honor to watch the chemistry between Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu over the last four years. Being the top two scorers in Oregon history is way beyond impressive but they always seem to know where the other one will be on the court. Their pick-and-roll plays are just magic. Ruthy is always ready for a Sabrina "no-look" pass to shoot and score.
There have been so many great moments but the away win over OSU after the death of Kobe was extremely emotional for the team and it showed they are true champions. The February win over UCLA on the road was also extra special with Sabrina getting her most assists record.
I love how Sabrina and Ruthy give each other a hug for the beginning of each game. True friends and incredible competitors delighting us each game.

Ruthy and Sabrina. Yin and yang. Interconnected and interdependent.
I've been an Oregon football and softball fan but Ruthy and Sabrina brought me back to my first love in sports – basketball. In December 2017, my daughter and I went to an Oregon women's basketball game during winter break. What do I remember of that game? The Ducks won — big. Sabrina had a triple-double. And the Ducks were really fun to watch. It was the first Ducks basketball game I've been to since Bev Smith played.
It was then I decided I should become a season-ticket holder, even though that meant driving from Portland to Eugene many weekends. But these young women deserved that support and they played the game the way basketball should be played – unselfish, focused, joyful.
Coach Graves often encourages people to go to a practice. Last year I did. Ruthy was one of the first players to introduce herself to me (as if I didn't know who she was)! What do I remember about her? Her smile – that big grin. And her being so unpretentious.
Coach is right when he says that the team plays in practice just like they play in games. What I saw in Sabrina that day was intensity and focus.
Thank you Ruthy and Sabrina for being Ducks. You've brought an immeasurable amount of joy to so many people. Can't wait to see what you achieve in the future.

It has been such a joy to watch Sabrina and Ruthy play with so much skill and passion. Such a joy to watch them grow from young freshman girls to poised and powerful young women. Such a joy to see them celebrate together and throw their arms around each other. Such a joy to join with so many other fans to cheer and share their accomplishments in insanely loud sold-out arenas. I will miss their infectious enthusiasm and their wonderful spirit
Thank you Ruthy. Thank you Sabrina. Congratulations and best wishes as you move forward. May you both find infinite joy and never-ending happiness.

Keeping it simple,
My 11-year-old son's favorite jersey is Sabrina's. He has a Mariota jersey, both Oregon and Tennessee; a Pritchard jersey; and a Herbert jersey. His favorite is Sabrina's! Talk about impact!
My 8-year-old son begged and pleaded to have his YMCA team be called the Sabrinas. Unfortunately, we had some Beaver fans on the team and they wouldn't go for it.
I watch Ruthy in the post and pause and rewind things to show my son why she is so successful.
It doesn't matter the gender, greatness is greatness!
These three (along with Satou) are amazing athletes, role models, and basketball players. Proud to be a fan and get to enjoy every game with my family.

Sabrina and Ruthy have changed the college game. I've been watching Oregon women's basketball since the 1980's and this year was the tipping point.
Win, win more, lead by example, transcend the game with personal strength and perseverance. Show grace under pressure. Elevate those around you. That exceptionalism and teamwork can only come from one place, the heart. Ruthy and Sabrina's heart.
Thank you both.

Sabrina – One of the many things I'll remember is her ability to connect with fans in so many different ways. On Feb. 28, 2018, I joined about 20 other members of the UO Fast Break Club at the Eugene airport to welcome back the team after Ruthy, Sabrina and the rest of the team won their first Pac-12 championship at Arizona. The plane was late and it was probably midnight by the time they arrived. I was so impressed and touched that sophomore Sabrina already knew the value of fan interaction and intentionally and kindly approached and hugged me and every other fan who showed up to greet them. Since then watching her interact with fans in person and through her amazing letters via the Players' Tribune has been a joy. What an amazing person, who understands her role and the value of connections. I'll always be nerding out on this self-proclaimed basketball nerd.
Ruthy – What a humble superstar who has been comfortable the whole time with the role of Sabrina's receiver/sidekick and who obviously adores Sabrina. To me this was encapsulated this season when Sabrina hit the long three at the end of the third quarter of the home game against Arizona, walked toward the bench and Ruthy ran out to her, picked her up and spun her around with them both laughing and smiling. I watched that video a gazillion times. What a remarkable pair.

Thank you for everything you have done for women's basketball and for sports in general. You three can do for women's basketball what Billie Jean King has done for tennis, and more...
You will be missed. Best of luck in the next stage of your careers.
Watching you grow into the amazing women that you are has been a privilege. Having the opportunity to be inspired by your passion and dedication to the game, your teammates, the University, your education, women's sports, and young athletes (especially girls but boys too) is something we will never forget.
The last couple of weeks have been bittersweet. It has been fun and awe-inspiring to watch the record-breaking accomplishments and the fan response this season, but it has been hard knowing that we are coming to the last time you will play together representing the U of O and all of us Oregonians. Underlying all that you have done at the U of O is the ASTONISHINGLY BEAUTIFUL BASKETBALL that the two of you play together. It is like watching a gorgeous symphony being composed in real time, right before our very eyes.
Practice, inspiration, dedication, hard work, commitment, love, compassion, teamwork, understanding, vision, trust, passion, growth: all in dynamic motion right in front of us. THANK YOU BOTH! It has been an absolute honor to be your biggest fans.

SABRINA AND RUTHY - PICK AND ROLL - POETRY IN MOTION!
It has been a pleasure to watch these two grow over the last four years, both in their craft of basketball and as amazing young women, beautiful both inside and out. Their dedication to their sport, their team, their fans and their school have made them great role models for young people and an inspiration to all. I am so proud that these women have been representatives of my school.
TO RUTHY AND SABRINA: HAVE FUN, STAY STRONG, STAY BRAVE AND STAY A DUCK FOREVER. BEST WISHES TO YOU (AND SATOU) ALWAYS.
Dee Kramer, UO '72.
Dear Ruthy & Sabrina:
Thank you for putting on such a great show! You make the baskets, rebounds, and assists look so easy, but we know the grit, grind, and endless hours of practice are why you're so successful.
Your games are highlighted on our calendars, and we watch on TV when we can't make it to Eugene. We will be at the Pac-12 Tournament again this year cheering for the Lady Ducks. Thank you for being such positive role models for the next generation of students and athletes, both boys and girls. Blessings to you as you move into the next part of your journey.
Go Ducks!

What can I say, ladies? You two have been masterful in helping to create a team and a culture at Oregon that I am hopeful will continue long after your divine exit. Your commitment to one another, and to the team as a whole, has been a pleasure and an honor to watch. Thank you so much for your hard work! I'm very excited for the postseason. Go Ducks!

I became a Women's basketball season-ticket holder in 1995. Jody Runge was the coach and we had some good players from Australia that were fun to watch. Even during that little window of time when Oregon was having some success, none of us had any illusions that a team from the West Coast other than Stanford was ever going to a Final Four. The focal point for women's basketball was back East, and we could not recruit the better players.
However, when Kelly Graves was hired things changed! Then Ruthy and Sabina came and they really changed.
Ruthy and Sabrina, what fun it has been to watch the timing of your pick-and-roll. Not only is your play stellar, you handle yourselves with wonderful composure. I love how hard you play. Ruthy you have the most beautiful, lights-her-whole-face-up smile. Sabrina, you handle celebrity status with incredible grace and humility. I love that you two hug at center court right before the starting jump ball. Friendship! The entire team is impressive and appears to be having fun.
Ruthy and Sabrina, you have elevated UO women's basketball's status — the entire country knows this. We have all been watching history being made these past four years, one statistic after another ratcheting up one notch and then another. I thank you for the honor of watching you play so beautifully and make history. You are both incredible people.
Suz Copenhafer
It has been so fun to watch Ruthy and Sabrina grow as players and to take Oregon basketball to the next level. Thank you both for the inspiration you have provided our daughter and three boys. Hard work, dedication, and a love for the game are all evident when you are on the court! We will miss you greatly and wish you the best with your bright futures!

Go Ducks!!
I was a little girl in the 80's and we, girls, were just beginning to have access to sports and resources. In high school, one of our track and field coaches said that: "Women will never be able to do the pole vault." (I saw Stacy Dragila pole vault at Hayward Field in the 2000s! Take that coach!).
To be a mother of two boys, who are able to enjoy, watch and support two fabulous, athletic, and powerful female athletes like Ruthy and Sabrina is a dream come true. We've been taking our sons to the UO women's basketball games since they were little. Our youngest son is a basketball player and he wants to grow up and play like Sabrina. Our sons do not distinguish between "female" and "male" athletes. They appreciate and value Ruthy and Sabrina for their athleticism, and as Ducks.
I don't know if we have favorite memories of Ruthy and Sabrina. The years we've watched them play have all be amazing. Being at last year's Elite Eight in Portland was definitely a highlight. We've been at all home games this year, and it has been wonderful to witness the growth of the sport on campus, and to see the progress of the team.
Watching these two young women help galvanize a sport, the campus, city, country, etc. has been a privilege to watch. I'm not only happy for my sons, but happy for a young girl who is now a woman and feels her gender seen, and valued for the power and strength we've always had. Go Ducks!!!

Dear Sabrina, Ruthy and Satou,
I am watching the Oregon vs. WSU game with mixed emotion. Privileged to have witnessed the beauty of basketball played at the highest level. Skilled players in your own right that put aside individual achievement for the good of the team. I have enjoyed every moment of your journey and will miss watching you play together as one.
Thank you for representing the University of Oregon and women's athletics so exceptionally.
Your futures are bright!
See you in Las Vegas!

Sabrina and Ruthy,
It is difficult to put into words what you have brought to me and the women's basketball community. I have been going to games since I moved to Eugene in 1986, after having played women's basketball myself for four years at a small liberal arts college in Oregon. I have had season tickets since the university began offering them (they didn't always!) because I am passionate about the sport.
The women's game has always been about team, and did you ever show that since you arrived at Oregon. When I first saw you play as a freshman, Sabrina, I told anyone who would listen that I was going to be watching perhaps the best female basketball player to come to Oregon. I observed your amazing "basketball smarts" and just felt it. And then Ruthy, your growth as a player has been astounding. The two of you together are really something and it brings me joy to watch you, especially when I can see how much you are enjoying the game and each other.
Having come home tonight from the team winning their third consecutive Pac-12 regular-season championship, I am filled with even more joy and heartfelt gratitude. The video and sentiments expressed embody my own feelings and emotions about the game, those we grow to love, and those whose lives we have, or will touch. Thank you, and peace as you continue your journeys.
Go Ducks!
Lynda J. Whitener
These two women along with their team and coaches have taken Matthew Knight Arena from only around 1500 fans to SOLD OUT! In this world of divisiveness, anger, and negativity they have been a shining example of passion, dedication, sisterhood, and humility. Besides a fabulous four years they have given us hope for the future.
What an outstanding example for young girls today in whatever walk of life they may choose. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. After the special presentation tonight by Sabrina and the team I turned to my friend and said "I'd vote for Sabrina for president". We need more people like these two in this world. Congratulations on all of your amazing accomplishments.

Thank you so much for coming to Oregon and giving us longtime (since the 1980s) Duck women's basketball fans the thrill of a lifetime! Your prodigious hard work, selflessness, intelligence, talent, grit, toughness, resilience, and your beautiful spirits have been a great gift to all of us. I wish you strength and joy on your journey from here on out. I'm so glad my time on Earth coincided with yours!

Our favorite Sabrina memory is when she got a technical in the NCAA tournament last spring for shooting the ball when she was on the bench, and Ruthy for always smiling on the Jumbotron during games and for coaching in the youth basketball camp! They are the best pick-and-roll duo of ALL TIME!
We traveled six hours each way all season to see them play, and are so proud to be fans of these two women. They are the future of women's basketball and will be for a long time. Sabrina is a such a a leader; it's not about the stats but the competitiveness and we love that person that she has become in her four years. She is such a great role model for our young daughter. Ruthy has incredible footwork, makes post play look easy and is very approachable. Love that both of these ladies are always willing to give the young fans autographs and take pictures.
We are so proud of you ladies and can't wait to see what your future holds.
Jamie and Michaela Ellsmore
Dear Ruth and Sabrina,
We are a family of four in Eugene, with two of us in elementary school (sister and brother are in the fourth and second grades). Your talents on the court have thrilled us as fans, and inspired our kids to not only play sports generally but to also emulate your winning style of play. Our second grader has been a confident shooter from the age of 1, and is beginning to get comfortable with fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and the latest – screens (yes pick-and-roll at age 7!). He is extremely observant during Ducks women's basketball games we attend at MKA and watch on TV. It's obvious to us that he's learning from example. Learning from the best. It's so cool to see snippets of your individual and team play, emulated by both of our kids on the two hoops we have inside our home, and on the courts of our son's Kidsports and YMCA teams on Saturdays.
We are so grateful and feel so blessed that you chose Oregon, and to have shared this community with you the past four years. We are excited to cheer you on the rest of the year and are looking forward to your next chapter. We are forever impacted and will be passionate fans of yours wherever your lives take you from here and beyond.
The image attached and below is the street lantern in front of our home that we have customized for this season. It is our Everglow for you.

P.S. Just this morning we watched your press conference (Ruthy & Sabrina) from last night's game. It was so fun, we had to watch it twice.
I have watched you two young ladies since your freshman year. I am amazed at your growth and accomplishments and feel so fortunate to have witnessed your growth.
I hope you are aware how much your fans enjoy you as people as well as players. I see a team of women who enjoy one another and have fun playing together.

Thank you, Ruthy and Sabrina.
Two ways to measure excellence is by overcoming adversity and beating the best. Our joyous journey started four short years ago when we were 8-10 in conference and swept by OSU and Stanford, the Pac-12's best. We finished that first season with an unforgettable NCAA tourney run, but UConn showed us true excellence. They completely dominated us and won by 38 points in the Elite Eight game. I attended that game in person. What a tough loss, but Ruthy and Sabrina showed us what was possible.
Thank you Ruthy and Sabrina.

Dear Ruthy and Sabrina,
I love you young women so much and wish for you both beautiful lives filled with joy, happiness, love and adventure. I know that you will have all of those things.
Ruthy,
It has been amazing watching your journey at Oregon. Your zest for life and basketball and your team has inspired our whole community. I will always watch your career and send you love. My two brothers were adopted and our family has always been so positive about adoption and the joy and depth that it has it brought to our lives. I am also a huge fan of Michael Franti, who was also adopted. Thank you for sharing your family and your story with us. I have also loved watching your strong friendship with Sabrina. Friends make everything better, and make the world go round, thanks for inspiring us.
Sabrina,
You are an incredible writer, in addition to everything else. Thank you for your letter to us, your fans. It was beautiful and meaningful. Also, my heart was already with you completely when Kobe and Gigi died, and then my nephew, Charlie Sullivan, died a week later in Chicago. He was almost 24 years old, a talented musician, an activist with Black Lives Matter, and a beautiful young man with so much more to give this world. He died from taking cocaine that was laced with Fentanyl. It feels so heartbreaking, like Kobe and Gigi and the other beautiful people on the helicopter and so hard to comprehend. Thank you for sharing your own grief with all of us, and the leadership you showed at Kobe's memorial. Although we would take each other's grief away, if we could, it somehow helps to know that we are not alone. I loved your amazing talk to us on Friday night about the deeper understanding that you have developed about what your "unfinished business" is and how helping each other and lifting each other up during heartbreaking times is more important than basketball. Life is all about us being here for each other.
You got it, girls!!!! You and Ruthy inspire all of us with your friendship, and I am so glad my girls got to see you as they have been growing up in Eugene. You are incredible role models.
I love you both! Call me if you ever need anything!
Best life wishes,

P.S. Regarding Ruthy, she couldn't wait to tell me how good of a volleyball player she is. She showed me a clip of herself cranking a ball at a player's face in high school. She took pride in it and said if I ever needed her she was ready!

In September 2018, I got some shocking news. My mom's congestive heart failure was worsening, and we learned she probably had about a year left. This stunned me because my mom didn't seem like she was dying. She was her usual self — bright, witty, irreverent, tough.

Go Ducks!

Oregon will forever be a part of their life stories,
Not just athletically and academically, but personally too;
Everything they have accomplished on and off the court
Serves as an inspiration for me and you.
Collectively we will look back on their careers and
Undoubtedly recall the records, achievements and accolades;
Remembering the triumphs, trials and tribulations that
Undeniably contributed to how UO women's basketball's ascent was made.
Time waits for no one and senior day has arrived, it is
Hard to believe Ruthy and Sabrina's college careers are nearing the end;
Yellow and Green Ducks jerseys will become WNBA uniforms, but their
Home and heart will forever be in Oregon.
Every time someone thinks about Oregon women's basketball,
Both of their names will always be part of the narrative;
As Coach Graves would tell you about their impact on the program,
Ruthy and Sabrina's influence & contributions have been transformative.
Ducks Nation is extremely blessed to have had the chance
to cheer on two of the best to ever wear the Yellow and Green;
thank you Ruthy and Sabrina for all of the memorable moments
and we look forward to when you come back home to Eugene.
ONCE A DUCK, ALWAYS A DUCK!

Thank you!

Go Ducks!

Thank you.

The record books will reflect most of what you contributed on the court WHICH IS HUGE, but the best stat, the thing that matters most is "Once a Duck, Always a Duck". You two belong to us forever.

Thank you for being such a great role model and inspiration to Amelia and I. You always take the time to say hi and have a conversation with us which brightens our day!

Go Ducks,

Gratefully,

Thank you for all the memories and uniting so many people. Go Ducks.

Sco' Ducks!

Go Ducks!

Thank you,

Thank you for blessing us by joining this team four years ago and I can't wait to see you in the WNBA killing it
more.

Just Watch!

Much Love!!

Best,

This is a salute to two young women, one from Fairbanks, Alaska, and one from Walnut Creek, California. This unlikely duo met in Eugene, Oregon, and gave me and my fellow fans and supporters an absolutely wonderful four years of delightful athletic competition.
It has been quite a ride and through it all they have managed to keep their grateful, humble attitude. They should be most proud of the influence that they have had on many young boys and girls that love them to death.

Dear Ruthy,
It was wonderful to meet you last spring at Jo's retirement party, and what an enormous pleasure it has been watching you from the stands these last four years.

Go Ducks!!

Sincerely,

We will miss you so much next year. We wish you the best in the WNBA. In the meantime, we are cheering for you to become NCAA champions! I will be in New Orleans to cheer for you.

Go Ducks!

Thanks for the memories.Although we have never met, I feel such love, respect and admiration for your many talents.

Thanks,

Go Ducks!

You will be missed. Best of luck in the next stage of your careers.

It is hard to find words. We are so grateful to have so many memories of you both, playing the game, interacting with people, making statements … on and off the court.Watching you grow into the amazing women that you are has been a privilege.

Go Ducks!

Thank you, Ruthy and Sabrina.
To many of us the UO is about striving for excellence and there are no better examples than our incredible men and women athletes
(a shout out to Uncle Phil for his important role in this). Fans and family have been thrilled to experience two of the all-time best these last four years Ruthy and Sabrina.
Fast forward three years. We've experienced great wins and a few devastating losses. Ruthy and Sabrina have overcome injuries and unimaginable person loss. Look what they've done their senior year, sweeping OSU and Stanford, and handing UConn their worst loss at Gampel Pavilion — ever. I attended that game too and we dominated start to finish. The roles were completely reversed, with UO showing the national ESPN audience what excellence looked like. Coach Auriemma said it best, "They're just too good, and their big kids are too good." And of course, we started the season by beating the US national team, only the second college team to do that in program history.
Four years seems to have gone by in a blink of an eye. It seems like just yesterday we started this amazing ride and it's gone way too fast.
They (we) are not finished, but they have already shown us all what EXCELLENCE is.
