Ducks drop game two at Hawaii

How it Happened: Hawaii took control early scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh off Oregon starter Robert Ahlstrom. The Rainbow Warriors sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning and scored all six runs with two outs.
Oregon cut into the Bows' lead in the top of the third. After Sam Novitske doubled to lead off the inning, freshman Anthony Hall drove him in with a RBI single through the right side. Senior Gabe Matthews followed with run-scoring single to plate Hall and cut the lead to 6-2.
Hawaii (10-5) added a run in the fifth, four more in the sixth and two in the seventh to push the lead to 13-2, before Oregon (7-6) answered with three in the eighth.
The Ducks scored their first run in the inning on a catcher's interference with the bases loaded on an A.J. Miller ground ball. Aaron Zavala scored the second run on a wild pitch and then Evan Williams singled and scored pinch runner Josh Kasevich to cut the lead to 13-5.
Box Score Notes: Matthews' third inning hit was the 179th of his career moving him past Kyle Kasser (2015-18) for fifth all-time in school history … Hall drove in a run for the fourth time in his last six games … The 10 runs allowed by Ahlstrom were the most he has giving up in his career, three more than he allowed vs. Washington last season … Freshman pitcher Hayden Rasica and junior infielders Tristan Hanoian and Marcus Lydon made their Oregon debuts … Rasica pitched a scoreless eighth inning striking out two … Hanoian singled in his first career at bat in the ninth.
On Deck: Game three of the series is Saturday night at 8:35 p.m. Oregon will send junior Peyton Fuller (1-0, 2.40) to the mound, while Hawaii will counter with left-hander Brandon Ross (1-0, 0.68).
