EUGENE, Ore. – Head coach Matt Ulmer and the Oregon volleyball team have announced the addition of Ayva Cebollero, a setter from Fremont High School in Plain City, Utah. Cebollero, a two-time all-state performer, joins recent UO signee Mimi Colyer as part of the Ducks' 2022 recruiting class.
"Ayva is a very talented setter that has the ability to attack, as well," Ulmer said. "She has good size and athleticism, and we are really excited for her to get in the gym. Ayva is an outstanding student and will be a wonderful teammate and asset to the program."
Cebollero finished her standout prep career with 1,622 assists, more than 1,500 of those coming over the past two seasons as the Fremont starter. Her career numbers also feature 542 digs—a career-high 2.6 dig per set as a senior—407 kills, 196 total blocks and 115 service aces. She had three seasons with at least 100 kills.
During the recently completed 2021 season, Cebollero helped lead Fremont to the quarterfinals of the Utah 6A State Championships. Cebollero collected 34 assists, 11 digs, nine kills and three service aces in the quarterfinal matchup with eventual state champion Lone Peak. The Silverwolves finished the season with a 19-13 record.
Cebollero tallied 17 double-doubles in her prep career including 11 during her senior campaign. She also turned in a triple-double performance earlier this year with 33 assists, 11 kills and 11 digs in an FHS four-set win against Farmington.
To cap the 2021 season, Cebollero was named to the Deseret News 6A All-State Third Team for a second time in her career. She also earned third-team accolades following her junior year.
