02/21/21 | Women's Lacrosse
DAVIS, Calif. – The Oregon lacrosse team wrapped up its opening weekend of the 2021 season with a 20-9 loss at UC Davis on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Hanna Hilcoff turned in her eighth multi-goal performance in just nine career games, while five true freshmen got in the scoring column.

How It Happened: The teams went back-and-forth in the early parts of the game, with Hilcoff tying the game at one three minutes in and Lillian Stump cutting the UC Davis lead to 3-2 with a goal at the 24:17 mark. From there, it was all Aggies, as they closed the half on an 8-2 run to lead 11-4 at the break. Mara Zajac and Lindsay Clarke scored the other two Oregon goals in the opening 30 minutes.

Shonly Wallace opened the second half scoring with a goal just two minutes in, but the Aggies responded with three straight to open up a 14-5 lead. The Ducks scored back-to-back goals in a span of just 14 seconds with Haley Cummins and Hilcoff finding the back of the net to cut the UC Davis lead to 14-7 with 22:35 remaining.

The Aggies answered with a 5-0 run to put the game out of reach, leading 19-7 with just over 11 minutes left. Nakeeya McCardell and Madysyn Sweeney added a pair goals for the Ducks with McCardell scoring at the 5:14 mark and Sweeney with 1:20 left.

Notable: Hilcoff has scored multiple goals in eight of her nine career games … Five true freshmen got in the scoring column, with three of them scoring their first career goals … Zajac, Clarke and Sweeney each recorded their first collegiate goals, all of them coming off the bench.

Up Next: The Ducks continue their season-opening road swing with games at Notre Dame (Friday, 4 p.m.) and at Central Michigan (Sunday, 9 a.m.)
