Brito Wins Trio Of Weekly Honors

Oregon true freshman shortstop Alyssa Brito was named both the Pac-12 Player and Freshman of the Week in addition to earning D1Softball National Freshman of the Week honors after putting up big numbers over the weekend against Sacramento State and Oregon State.
Brito led the team with a .667 batting average and nine RBIs over the three games in addition to scoring a team-high six runs and hitting two homers over the weekend. She opened the home weekend by driving in a season-high five runs while going 3-for-3 with a homer in an 11-0 win over Sacramento State. The shortstop picked up an RBI in each of her three at-bats while also making a dazzling play defensively in the fourth inning.
She followed that performance up by going 1-for-3 with a double and a pair of runs scored in a 14-6 victory over Oregon State in the nightcap. Brito turned in another big game at the plate in Sunday's win over Sacramento State, finishing 2-for-3 with four RBIs, all coming on a game-ending grand slam with two outs in the sixth inning to bring the mercy rule into effect in an 8-0 win.
This is the second time this year that Brito has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week while she earned conference player of the week honors and D1Softball national freshman recognition for the first time. It's also the second straight week and the third time this year that an Oregon player has been named the league's freshman of the week after Hanna Delgado received the honor last week.
