
Ducks In Third After Day One Of Windy City Classic

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. - The Oregon women's golf team is in third place after day one of the Windy City Classic at Exmoor Country Club.
The Ducks opened their second tournament of the fall with a 9-over 297 in round one, and made it to the back nine in round two before play was suspended due to darkness. Oregon will resume round two on Tuesday morning at 6-over par for the round with three to six holes left to play before going on to the final round.
UO currently sits in third at 15-over par, 11 strokes back of first-place USC and two strokes behind second-place South Carolina. Michigan is in fourth at 17 over, with Duke in fifth at 21 over.
How it Happened: The Ducks struggled to get many birdies to fall in round one, with Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu, Ashleigh Park and Brittany Shin all posting a 1-over 73. Ching-Tzu Chen and Minori Nagano rounded out the counting scores at 6 over.
Oregon has already matched its round one total with 10 birdies in round two, with the potential to add more when the round resumes on Tuesday. Shin is in the midst of a nice second round, making birdies at holes 11 and 13 to get to 1-under par with three holes left to play. Shin is currently in a tie for fourth overall at even par, eight strokes back of individual leader Amari Avery (USC).
Lu and Nagano are each 2 over in round two, with Chen at 3 over and Park at 4 over. Lu and Chen each have six holes remaining, while Park, Nagano and Shin all have three left to play.
Notable: Oregon is currently the top team in the field on par-3 holes at 4 over ... Park is currently 1-under par on par-3s ... Lu, Park and Shin are all tied for the team lead with five birdies so far.
