10/03/22 | Women's Volleyball
Mimi Colyer averaged 5.70 points per set and hit .321 in the Ducks' 2-0 weekend at Matthew Knight Arena.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon outside hitter Mimi Colyer is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for a fifth time as announced Monday afternoon by the league office. In helping the Ducks to wins over Arizona State and Arizona, Colyer contributed 5.70 points as Oregon improved to 4-0 in Pac-12 play for the first time since 2016.
With her latest selection, Colyer becomes the fifth player in conference history to win at least five Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors since the award was adopted in 2011. She joins the exclusive list that also features Samantha Bricio (2012) and Ebony Nwanebu (2013) of USC, Mary-Kate Marshall (2014) of Oregon State and Hayley Hodson (2015) of Stanford.
In Monday's rankings releases, Oregon is up to a season-high No. 12 spot in the AVCA poll and check in at eighth in the first NCAA RPI release of the season. Prior to Sunday's match, the Ducks were the No. 7 team in the initial reveal of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee top 10.
Colyer averaged 4.17 kills per set while hitting .321 during the weekend and defensively, added in 4.17 digs per set and 1.17 blocks per set. She also registered five aces against the Arizona teams.
The Lincoln, Calif., native began the weekend with 12 kills and a season-high 14 digs in a sweep of the Sun Devils. Against Arizona, Colyer ran her streak of double-doubles to three in a row with 13 kills and 11 digs. She hit .440 against the Wildcats, her fifth match of the year with 10+ kills coupled with a .300 or higher hitting percentage.
Colyer is currently ranked seventh in the Pac-12 in both kills per set (3.53 k/s) and points per set (4.20 p/s).
As a program, Oregon is now tied with USC for the second most Freshman of the Week awards (20) in conference history.
After three straight on their home court, the Ducks hit the road for their next four matches beginning Friday at Washington State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. (PT) on the Pac-12 Networks. The team's next home match is Friday, Oct. 21, against Utah. Click HERE for Oregon's full schedule.
