11/14/22 | Women's Volleyball
The UO standout averaged 5.56 points per set in wins at Colorado and Utah.
EUGENE, Ore. – Outside hitter Mimi Colyer has been named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for a record seventh time, as announced Monday by the conference office. With the selection, she breaks the mark she previously shared with former USC standout Ebony Nwanebu (2013).
This past weekend, Colyer averaged 5.56 points, aided by a pair of 20-kill performances in road wins at Colorado and Utah. Overall, she averaged 5.00 kills per set and 2.22 digs per set to go along with three aces.
The Lincoln, Calif., native recorded her ninth double-double of the year with 20 kills and 11 digs to help Oregon erase a 0-2 deficit in a five-set victory at Colorado. After getting on the scoreboard in the third, the Ducks fell behind by as many as 10 points in the fourth and were two points away from defeat but rallied for the win.
Colyer closed out the weekend with 25 kills while hitting .408 in Oregon's four-set win over Utah, the team's first victory in Salt Lake City since 2017. Sunday's outing marked her 10th match of the year with double-digit kills paired with a .300 or higher hitting percentage. Colyer also contributed with nine digs, two aces and a pair of blocks against the Utes.
Colyer now has eight matches this season with 20 or more kills, including three in a row. She is up to third in the Pac-12 with 4.83 points per set and fourth in the league with 4.18 kills per set. She is also second among freshman in the NCAA in both categories.
Additionally, the Ducks are up two spots to No. 12 in Monday's release of the AVCA coaches' poll, tying a season-high ranking. Oregon also improved in the NCAA RPI, up to 11th with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
On the heels of their 2-0 weekend road trip, the Ducks return to Matthew Knight Arena on Friday, Nov. 18, to host UCLA. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Oregon. Oregon plays three of their final four of the regular season at home. Click HERE for Oregon's full schedule.
