Vandecasteele, Cierny Advance to ITA Northwest Regional Semifinals

STANFORD, Calif. – Vlad Breazu, David Cierny, Ray Lo and Quinn Vandecasteele are set to participate in the ITA Northwest Super Regional Championships this weekend in Palo Alto.

Hosted by Stanford University's Taube Family Tennis Center, the tournament is the final opportunity for Ducks to advance to the ITA Fall Championships, which will be held in San Diego, CA beginning on November 1.

Lo looks to continue in the singles after a 7-5, 6-4 qualifying win over Washington's Jim Hendrikx at the Northwest Regional on October 8. Cierny and Vandecasteele pair up again after doubles success at the ITA All-American Championships, while Breazu makes his first appearance of the fall season.

Day 1: Quinn Vandecasteele defeated Stanford's Aryan Chaudhary 6-1 and 6-4 to advance to the round of 16, then earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Oscar Brown from the University of Portland to continue to the quarterfinal round.

Day 2: Vandecasteele and Cierny won back-to-back matches, going 8-7 (7-5) over Andrea Brignacca and Jan Semerak of Portland State, and 8-3 over Luke Bollinger and Ryan Torres of UC Davis. The pair will advance to the semifinals, along with Vandecasteele individually after a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Santa Clara's Guillaume Dalmasso.

Day 3: Vandecasteele came out with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Stanford's Hudson Rivera, advancing to Monday's final round of play.
