AT A GLANCE
Oregon finishes its four-game road trip Sunday at Washington. The Ducks seek a regular-season sweep after defeating the Huskies 65-58 on Jan. 13 at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks have won 10 straight in the series and are 55-51 against UW all-time.
Friday, Washington defeated Oregon State, 64-59, while UO fell at Washington State, 64-57, to break an eighth-place tie in the Pac-12 standings.
LAST TIME OUT
Oregon suffered a 64-57 loss at Washington State at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, pushing its season-long losing streak to six game. The skid marks the Ducks' longest since dropping six consecutive games in head coach Kelly Graves' first season in 2014-15.
Chance Gray led Oregon's offense with 18 points while Endyia Rogers added 17, with both going 7-for-17 from the field. Grace VanSlooten added 11 points and six rebounds for her seventh straight outing with at least 10 points and five boards.
UO had a season-low six assists on 23 made field goals while turning the ball over 17 times. The Cougars converted those 17 turnovers into 18 points and owned an 18-8 advantage in points from turnovers. The Ducks have been held below 60 points five times over their last six games - their only games below the 60-point threshold this season.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON
Washington (14-11, 6-9) snapped a two-game skid with a 64-59 home win over Oregon State Friday night. The Huskies have won five of their last seven games, including a 72-67 win over then-No. 2 Stanford on Feb. 5 and are 11-5 at home this season.
Dalayah Daniels is the only Husky to average more than 10 points a game at 11.5. Haley Van Dyke is next at 9.7 and Lauren Schwartz is third with 8.8 points an outing. UW ranks 12th in the conference in both scoring (62.5 points a game) and 3-point shooting (26.9 percent). During Pac-12 play, Washington averages 60.5 points per game (12th in the league).
Against the Beavers, four players eclipsed double-figure scoring, led by 17 from Van Dyke. UW shot 47.6 percent from behind the 3-point line, going 10-for-12. The Huskies owned a 37-28 rebounding edge, resulting in a 14-2 advantage in second chance points.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Sunday's matchup will be the 106th all-time meeting between Oregon and Washington, with the Ducks owning a 55-51 lead dating back to 1974. UO extended its winning streak to 10 games against the Huskies with a 65-58 win at Matthew Knight Arena on Jan. 13. The 10-game marks the Ducks' longest in the series since winning 12 straight from Feb. 8, 1996 to Dec. 28, 2001. Oregon last last to UW on Dec. 30, 2016.
Oregon is 19-39 in Seattle, but has won the last six on the road going back to Feb. 8, 2015. Head coach Kelly Graves is 11-3 against UW and 6-1 on the road.
In the season's first meeting, Te-Hina Paopao scored a game-high 16 points to lead three Ducks in double figures. Washington claimed a one-point lead, 52-51, with 4:39 to play before UO made its last four shots to pull out a 65-58 win. Taya Hanson, who scored 15 points off the bench, hit a 3-pointer to put Oregon up six with 23.3 second left. The Huskies were paced by 14 points apiece from both Dalayah Daniels and Haley Van Dyke.
THE "O" STANDS FOR OFFENSE
Oregon's 105.5 offensive efficiency rating (points per 100 possessions) is the 19th-highest mark in the country and third-best in the Pac-12 behind only Utah (113.8) and Stanford (111.0). The Ducks' 75.5 points per game rank as the 37th-best mark in the country and fourth-highest in the conference.
UO has scored at least 75 points in 14 of 26 outings while reaching the 90-point mark five times. The Ducks' 100-92 loss to No. 7 Utah on Feb. 5 marked the first loss under ninth-year head coach Kelly Graves in which the Ducks scored at least 90 points and lost (had been 52-0). This season, Oregon is 4-1 when reaching the 90-point plateau, surpassing the total number of 90-point efforts during the 2021-22 and 2020-21 seasons (three times each). At Matthew Knight Arena this season, the Ducks are averaging 80.5 points per game while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 38.8 percent from behind the arc. In total, Oregon gets 29.9 percent of its points from 3-pointers - No. 2 in the Pac-12.
FAB FRESHMAN DUO
Freshmen Chance Gray and Grace VanSlooten have already etched their names into the Oregon record books. Gray is in the top 10 in program history with 44 made 3-pointers (No. 9) and 63 assists (No. 10). VanSlooten is 10th in points by a UO freshman with 373 points.
Gray needs one more 3-pointer to move into an eighth-place tie on Oregon's freshman list and four more assists to move into ninth. VanSlooten is six points shy of Duck legend Bev Smith, whose 379 points as a freshman ranks ninth all-time in program history.
Both Gray (11.0) and VanSlooten (14.3) average double-digits points. The last freshman Duck duo to average 10-plus points was Ruthy Hebard (14.9) and Sabrina Ionescu (14.6) in 2016-17 - the only pair of UO teammates to do so since at least the 2009-10 season.
NUGGETS AND TRENDS
This season, Oregon averages just 10.9 turnovers per game in victories while turning the ball over 13.6 times per game over 12 losses. When the Ducks have 15 or more turnovers, they are 2-7. Despite losing eight of its last nine games, UO is averaging 11.1 turnovers a game in that stretch (below its season average of 12.2), but shooting just 37.4 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from behind the 3-point line.
In its 14 victories, Oregon is shooting 39.1 percent from 3-point range while averaging 8.6 3-point field goals. Defensively, the Ducks are holding teams to 27.2 percent and 5.6 made 3-pointers. In defeats, the Ducks are shooting just 30.7 percent from behind the arc and their average made 3-pointers drops to 6.1 while opponents are making 7.7 3-pointers a game at a 37.4 percent clip.
Since the 2020-21 season, Oregon is 3-6 in games decided by three points or less with a 1-3 overtime record, dropping its last three games that have gone to overtime. Under Graves, the Ducks are 5-5 in overtime decisions. Each of Oregon's last 11 games have been decided by 10 points or less (2-9 in that span).
