Road Trip Ends With 68-60 Loss at UW

SEATTLE — Oregon got a season-high 22 points from Te-Hina Paopao, but finished its four-game road trip with a 68-60 loss at Washington Sunday afternoon at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Ducks (14-13, 5-11), who have played seven of their last nine away from Matthew Knight Arena, saw their season-long losing streak hit seven games. Each of UO's last 12 games have been decided by 10 points or less.
Paopao scored 14 of her game-high point total in the first half, leading Oregon to a 32-27 lead at the break. The third quarter saw Washington (15-11, 7-9) outscore the Ducks 18-6, with UW shooting 8-for-15 while holding Oregon to 2-for-11 from the field and 0-fot-5 from 3. The six points marked the fewest in any single quarter this season for the Ducks.
"Overall, we played harder tonight," said head coach Kelly Graves. "In the third quarter, we just couldn't score and had a few turnovers in that quarter. Kind of a similar tale. But it was good to see a couple of positives. Paopao bounced back, it was good to see her bounce back and play well. Philli (Kyei), I thought, did some really good stuff."
Paopao set a career high with six 3-pointers in the game and cracked the 20-point mark for the first time this season and seventh time in her career. Endyia Rogers finished with 10 points, as the backcourt duo were the only Ducks to score in double figures.
Paopao scored eight straight points for the Ducks to finish the first quarter, bringing UO within two after 10 minutes at 16-14. She hit three of her first four 3-point tries and was responsible for 11 of the Ducks' first 19 points.
Oregon was forced into 15 turnovers and were out-rebounded 33-29, marking the Ducks' fewest rebounds in a game this season. Phillipina Kyei grabbed 11 boards while UW owned a 38-24 edge in points in the paint.
Facing a seven-point deficit and scoring just 38 points through three quarters, UO's offense rebounded with 22 points in the final quarter. Eight points came from Paopao and six more from Chance Gray. UO went 4-for-6 from deep and 7-for-17 overall from the field while the Huskies led by as many as 14 in the quarter.
"I feel for these guys, we've got to keep plugging away and that's all we can do," Graves added. "I don't think we're doing a bad job as a coaching staff. We prepare well, we haven't prepared any differently than we have in the past. Our kids are practicing hard … their attitudes aren't down. We've just got to build on any positives. We've got to pick ourselves up and find a way."
The Huskies saw just two players score in double digits, paced by Lauren Schwartz's 13 and Dalayah Daniels' 10. Haley Van Dyke finished with nine points and nine rebounds. Schwartz collected nine of her 13 in the third quarter.
Notable: Paopao scored a season-high 22 points while hitting a career-best six 3-pointers, snapping a stretch of six straight games without breaking double digits … Basham recorded a season-high four blocks, with three coming in a two-minute span in the first quarter … Oregon's 10-game winning streak against the Huskies came to an end, while its seven-game skid is the longest since the 2012-13 season (lost eight in a row).
Up Next: The Ducks return to Matthew Knight Arena to host Arizona Thursday (7 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Networks).
