Ducks Take Care of Business Against Cal
03/02/23 | Men's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. — Five Ducks scored in double-figures to lead Oregon to an 84-51 victory.
Will Richardson became the program's all-time leader at the tip-off of tonight's game, his 145th-career game. Nine Ducks scored on the night, with eight players netting at least two baskets. Jermaine Couisnard sparked a run midway through the half and Oregon would not look back. Each half was an almost identical stat-line, with Oregon outscoring Cal 42-26 in the first half and 42-25 in the second.
How It Happened: The Ducks started with three-straight turnovers before getting a shot off. A trend that would thankfully not last. Oregon and Cal traded buckets to a 12-12 tie. From there, the Ducks outscored the Bears 30-14 to close the half. Jermaine Couisnard and Quincy Guerrier sparked the Oregon run a pair of threes. Couisnard net three threes in the half for a team-high 13 points, followed by N'Faly Dante with seven and Guerrier with three.
Oregon continued to methodically pull away in the second half. Smart play from the Ducks and a total team effort helped the Ducks build a 20-point lead. At the 13:43 mark, it was a 58-36 advantage behind 15 points from Couisnard and 10 from Dante. Nine players had already scored for Oregon midway through the half. The game was in-hand at that point and Oregon's reserves would soon enter the contest. Brady Parris, Gabe Reichle, and James Cooper all saw action for the Ducks in a celebratory evening all around.
Notable: Senior Will Richardson played in his 145th career game, a new school record for games played for the Ducks. He surpassed Payton Pritchard and Johnathan Loyd. Nine players scored for the most Ducks in the scorebook all season.
Up Next: The Ducks host Stanford in Matthew Knight Arena on Saturday (1 p.m., CBS).
