Ducks Sweep Rivalry Series Doubleheader
04/01/23 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – No. 18 Oregon banged out 10 hits in a 10-4 win in game one against Oregon State and then was held to a season-low one hit in the nightcap, but saw exceptional pitching performances from Stevie Hansen and Raegan Breedlove to shutout the Beavers 2-0 Saturday at Kelly Field.
The Ducks will go for the sweep Sunday at 3 p.m.
"We did what we needed to today and tomorrow is a very important game," said coach Melyssa Lombardi. "We're right where we wanted to be."
How it Happened – Game 1: Kedre Luschar went 3-for-4 with a triple, drove in two runs, threw a runner out at third and stole a base, while Allee Bunker went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs to spark the Ducks' game one win.
"The ball just looked really big today," said Luschar. "I was seeing the ball really well."
Oregon (22-10, 5-6) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Hanna Delgado reached on an error and Terra McGowan walked before Allee Bunker laced a line drive over the third base bag into the left field corner to score both runners.

The Ducks manufactured a run in the top of the second. Tehya Bird led off with a double, Paige Sinicki moved her to third with a sacrifice bunt and McGowan drove her in with a sacrifice fly to left.
Oregon added its fourth run of the game in the third inning. Alyssa Daniell drew a walk and Kai Luschar pinch ran and stole second. Kedre Luschar then hit her first career triple to score her sister.
The Beavers (10-20-1, 1-9-1) made it 4-3 on Frankie Hammoude's three run homer in the bottom of the third.
The Ducks answered with two runs in the top of the fourth. Delgado singled and McGowan walked. Bunker sacrificed both runners ahead 60 feet. Delgado then scored on an error at shortstop before Kedre Luschar singled to right to score McGowan.
Oregon put the game out of reach with a four-run seventh.
Kedre Luschar led off with her career-best third hit of the game and stole second. Bird walked and Delgado was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Bird and Kedre Luschar scored on an error on McGowan's grounder to second. Bunker then drove in Delgado and McGowan with her fourth hit of the game to make it 10-6.
After OSU closed to within 6-4 in the fifth, Raegan Breedlove came on in relief of Morgan Scott and got the final six outs for the save. Scott (6-4) got the win after giving up four runs on seven hits in five innings.

How it Happened – Game 2: Hansen threw 6.1 shutout innings before giving way to Breedlove who closed the game out with her second save of the day.
The Ducks scored their only two runs on one hit in the third inning. Bird walked with one out. Sinicki was hit by a pitch and Delgado reached on an infield single to load the bases. After a fielder's choice that forced Bird at home, McGowan drew a bases-loaded walk to force in a run. Delgado then scored on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
Then it was up to the pitching staff. Hansen set down the side in order in the bottom of the third. She worked out of a jam in the fourth by getting Aubree Seaney to pop out to KK Humphreys at first to end the inning with runners on first and third. Hansen retired the side in order in both the fifth and sixth innings before running into trouble in the seventh.
Kalea Higa led off with a double for OSU. Hansen retired the next batter on a grounder to short, but then walked the next batter. Breedlove entered for the Ducks and allowed both runners moved up on a wild pitch to put runners on second and third with one out.
But Breedlove snuffed out the threat by getting a ground out to third and ended the game by inducing Des Revera to fly out to Vallery Wong in right field.
Hansen (13-4) yielded four hits, struck out three and walked two.

Noteworthy: The Ducks stole eight bases in game one, one shy of the school record of nine they set last season at BYU … Breedlove's saves were the sixth and seventh of her career … Bunker tied her career high with four hits in game one, while Delgado matched her career high with three runs scored … With four RBI in game one, Bunker jumped into the UO career top 10 at No. 8 with 147. She passed Neena Bryant (144/2007-10), Jenna Lilley (144/2015-18) and Lindsey Welch (145/1997-00) and needs eight more RBI to make her the only player in program history ranked in the UO career top five in hits, doubles and RBI … The Ducks turned three double plays on Saturday.
