05/19/23 | Track and Field
The Women of Oregon won the 2023 Pac-12 team title.
EUGENE, Ore. – Jerry Schumacher has been named the Pac-12 Women's Coach of the Year with league honors announced Friday morning. The UO women won their second-consecutive team title at the Pac-12 Championships last weekend in Walnut, Calif. The year-end honor is the first for Schumacher.
In a show of their across-the-board depth, the Women of Oregon won seven individual titles and scored in 19 of 21 events on their way to 158.5 points and the team win. The seven event titles are their highest total since the 2017 conference meet.
Jadyn Mays won the 100 meters for her first individual Pac-12 title, and fourth overall. She was also part of the victorious 4x100-meter relay with Lily Jones, Shaniya Hall and Ella Clayton; good for the program's third-consecutive title in the event. Shana Grebo made history as the first UO woman to take top honors in the 400-meter hurdles.
Jorinde van Klinken was a double winner in her first season at Oregon, taking first place in the shot put and discus. Lexi Ellis won a second-consecutive title in the triple jump while Shelby Moran secured the team's first win of the weekend with her performance in the hammer.
The UO women are up to 13 Pac-12 titles (1991-92, 2009-17, 2022-23) and within two of the most titles in conference history—UCLA, 15. Individually, Mays earned women's Athlete of the Week honors as the high-point scorer (20.5). She was also runner-up in the 200 to go along with wins in the 100 and 4x100.
