Seniors Honored

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 13 Oregon dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 24 Utah Sunday in the final game of the regular season.
The Ducks (35-14, 14-10) will be the No. 5 seed for next week's Pac-12 Tournament and will face fourth-seeded Stanford Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Tucson, Ariz.
Oregon honored its five seniors – Kyla Morris, Karissa Ornelas, Katelyn Howard, Allee Bunker and Terra McGowan – in front of 1,901 at Jane Sanders Stadium, many of whom stayed around to the celebrate the class of 2023 in spite of rain showers that caused a 16-minute delay in the seventh inning.
"It's bittersweet," said coach Melyssa Lombardi about the seniors. "Obviously, we still have things to do here, we're not done.
"But to know that this is their last year with us and know that they came in when I came in, I just appreciate them, and I appreciate everything they have done on and off the field for this program," she said. "I appreciate the legacy, the culture, the leadership and everything that they brought to Oregon softball."
How It Happened: Mariah Lopez threw a no-hitter for the Utes (34-13, 15-9).
McGowan had a home run taken away from her in the first inning. She lined a pitch the opposite way to right field but Utah right fielder Sophie Jaquez reached her glove over the wall to bring the ball back for an out.

Raegan Breedlove was a bright spots for the Ducks. She relieved Stevie Hansen (18-6) in the second inning and scattered four hits over 4.1 innings and didn't give up a run. Hansen allowed just two runs in 2.2 innings.
Notable: Of the 16 runs scored in the Oregon-Utah series, 15 came via the long ball … Breedlove has allowed just four earned runs in her last 27 innings.
Quotable:
Raegan Breedlove on her recent success
"I think trusting myself has been a huge role as well just having the confidence in myself and my teammates. Trusting myself to get the job done and feeling the trust from everybody else that I am going to get it done has really come a long way for me."
Up Next: Oregon will face Stanford Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. (Pac-12 Network).
