Talented Field Awaits at Hawai’i North Shore Showcase

LAIE, Hawai'i — Following a 6-0 homestand to begin the season, the 23rd-ranked Oregon women's basketball team travels west to take on a talented field at the Hawai'i North Shore Showcase beginning Monday at the George Q Cannon Activities Center on the campus of BYU-Hawai'i.
Oregon begins the three-team tournament on Monday against Georgia Tech before concluding the event the following against South Dakota State. Both matchups are set to begin at 4 p.m. PT and will stream online through BallerTV (subscription required).
The Ducks and Yellow Jackets will meet for the first time since 2009, with GT holding a 2-0 lead in the series. Oregon has won three straight in its series with South Dakota State, last winning in Eugene in 2019. UO and the Jackrabbits met in the Sweet 16 at the 2018 NCAA Tournament, with the Ducks advancing to the Elite Eight with a 63-53 win.

Oregon moved to 6-0 on the season with a 70-68 win over Auburn on Wednesday, getting a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double from Phillipina Kyei. Kyei, who made her first start of the season, led three players in double figures, with Peyton Scott adding 13 and Amina Muhammad finishing with 10.
Still working her way back from injury, Kyei logged her fist double-double of the season after turning in 20 a season ago.
The Ducks shot 73 percent in the second quarter, winning the frame 24-15. UO forced Auburn into 20 turnovers, tying a season high, while picking up a season-high-tying 10 steals.
SCOUTING GEORGIA TECH
Georgia Tech has begun the season 4-0, picking up four home victories to start the year. In its last game, Georgia Tech defeated in-state rival Georgia 83-67, getting 25 points and nine rebounds from Kara Dunn.
Dunn (12.5 PPG) is one of three Yellow Jackets averaging double-digit points, led by 16.5 from Dani Carnegie to go with 10.0 points from Tonie Morgan.
The Yellow Jackets attempt an ACC-high 28.5 3-pointers per game and fourth in made 3-pointers per game (8.8), but rank 14th in the league in 3-point percentage at 30.7.
SCOUTING SOUTH DAKOTA STATE
South Dakota State (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season last Sunday, a 75-71 home loss to then-No. 16 Duke. In the game, Brooklyn Meyer put up 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go with five rebounds.
Meyer has led to tied for the team lead in scoring in all four games for the Jackrabbits, and is averaging a team-leading 18.0 points per game while shooting 54.7 percent from the floor. Haleigh Timmer is second at 13.0 points per game and Paige Meyer rounds out three in double figures at 11.3 points a night.
The defending Summit League champions have faced two top-25 teams this season, defeating then-No. 21 Creighton 76-71 on Nov. 8. The Jacks lead their conference in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.
