
Solid Finish for Oregon at Duck Invite

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team opened its fall season with a strong showing through all three days of the Duck Invitational, adding five singles wins on Sunday.
Eight Oregon players competed in the final matches of the three-day tournament. Oregon went 5-3 on the day, bringing the team total to 15 singles wins and seven doubles victories. All five of the Ducks' wins came against Portland.
Bridget Mihulka, Avery Jennings, Patsy Daughters, Tilde Jagare and Hadley Appling added to their winning records for the weekend. Daughters was first off the court, defeating Maria Galatescu with a pair of 6-1 sets.
Mihulka and Appling followed in straight sets with respective 6-4, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-2 scores. Jennings defeated Portland's Meagan Pearson 6-4, 6-1 after falling in her singles matchup on Friday. Jagare and Alaia Rubio Perez split their first two sets, decided by a 10-7 third-set tiebreak in Oregon's favor.
Juliet Santitto and Hinata Furutani each won their first sets, but were defeated by narrow margins in third-set tiebreaks.
The Ducks will resume fall action at the ITA Regionals beginning on October 9 in Berkeley, Calif.
