Ducks Ace Regular-Season Finale at Maryland
11/28/25 | Women's Volleyball
Oregon hit .405 and had 11 service aces in Friday’s straight-set victory.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Oregon volleyball team hit a season-high .405 in Friday's straight-set road win over Maryland (25-16, 25-11, 25-21) to close out the regular season. Junior Valentina Vaulet led all players with 12 kills and tied her career high with six service aces. With the victory, the Ducks move to 17-13 overall with an 8-12 record in Big Ten play.
Vaulet committed just one error on 18 swings against Maryland, good for a .611 hitting percentage. At the service line, she tied a figure she'd tallied three times prior to this season. Now with 56 aces, Vaulet moves to seventh on the program's single-season list.
Friday also saw a milestone for Sophia Meyers who reached 1,500 career kills with her second kill of the match. The UO grad transfer finished the day with nine kills while hitting .350 to go along with four digs and an ace.
Senior setter Cora Taylor dished out 37 assists in the sweep and all five UO attackers finished the match with at least six kills. In the middle, Iva Sucurovic and Holley McFadden combined for 14 kills without an error between them. Oregon's offense generated its first .400 or better showing of the year, improving on its previous season best of .338 at then-No. 9 Purdue (Nov. 15).
The Ducks had 11 service aces Friday, good for their fifth double-digit outing this season. In addition to Vaulet and Meyers, the team got two aces apiece from Sucurovic and freshman libero Reese Sheppard, who added a match-high 10 digs.
How It Happened: Breaking a back-and-forth start to the match, Oregon put together a seven-point run to take a 14-6 lead in the opening set. Vaulet had two aces and a kill during the surge. The cushion grew to double digits at 17-7 on the heels of a Sheppard ace. The Ducks won the last three points of the set to take the 1-0 match lead, securing the opener with Vaulet's third ace.
Just as she ended the first, Vaulet got right back to work with an ace to start the second. She had three more service winners in the second frame. With the score tied at 7-all, Oregon won nine of the next 10 points to separate from Maryland (8-22, 1-19 B1G). Vaulet once again spurred the surge with four kills and two aces in that stretch.
Sucurovic had two kills in the Ducks' final four points including the set-winning slide and UO had a 2-0 lead.
The Terrapins pushed back to start the third set, forcing an early Oregon timeout after going ahead 9-5. The Ducks trailed by as many as six with Maryland up 17-11. Out of the team's second timeout, Oregon used another 9-1 run to re-establish its lead, and after a Sucurovic ace, UO led 20-18. Meyers tooled the Maryland block to set up match point and on the ensuing rally, Alanah Clemente pounded the final kill to complete the sweep.
Clemente finished the match with eight kills, five digs and four blocks.
Notable: Just the second all-time meeting between the programs; UO leads 2-0 … first .400 or higher team hitting percentage in a Big Ten match; previous high was .380 last season against UCLA (11/2/24) … allowed an opponent season-low 22 kills to Maryland … out-hit weekend opponents, .341 to .081, on the East Coast road trip.
Up Next: Oregon now awaits its postseason fate and a possible at-large bid when the NCAA Selection Show airs Sunday at 3 p.m. PT on ESPN.
