Happy Homecoming For UO Men
12/13/25 | Men's Basketball
The Ducks ended a five-game losing streak, four of which came on the road, with a win Saturday over UC Davis.
EUGENE, Ore. — Back on the floor at Matthew Knight Arena, the Oregon men's basketball team feasted on home cooking Saturday.
The Ducks (5-5) ended a five-game losing streak with a 104-62 victory over UC Davis before 5,299 home fans. The UO men won for the first time since Nov. 17, a welcome taste of success after three losses at a Thanksgiving tournament in Las Vegas and then two to open Big Ten play.
Oregon scored the first 16 points Saturday, wrapped up the first half with a 9-0 run to lead 52-16 at the break and led by as much as 49 in the second half.
"A confidence booster for us, and we've just got to keep the momentum going into Portland (on Wednesday) and Gonzaga, a tough one in Portland (next Sunday)," UO junior Jackson Shelstad said. "We've just got to keep playing the way we did, in that first half especially — everybody got involved. It's good just for us to come out and have a good one like that."
Shelstad had 21 points and a career-high nine assists to lead the Ducks against the Aggies. Takai Simpkins added 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting, Ege Demir had his first collegiate double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Kwame Evans Jr. added 14 points with 13 rebounds.

Shelstad's 21 points came on 7-of-13 shooting that included three three-pointers, and he added four rebounds plus three steals to go along with his new career high in assists.
"When he sets the tone making plays for others, it carries over to everybody," UO coach Dana Altman said. "I think the reason he had 21 is because he got the ball moving. He had nine (assists) and he set a great tone for us."
Shelstad's fellow team leader Nate Bittle started and scored four points in seven minutes, before watching the remainder of the game to continue his recovery from the ankle injury he suffered Thanksgiving week.
How It Happened: Bittle and Shelstad each had four points during Oregon's game-opening 16-0 run. Simpkins and Wei Lin each hit a three-pointer during the run as well, with UC Davis not scoring until the 13:34 mark of the first half.
After Lin scored again for a 20-4 lead, Sean Stewart had eight of Oregon's next 13 points as the Ducks pushed their advantage in the post.
"We knew coming into the game that they didn't have shot blockers," Shelstad "So that was the game plan, just being aggressive and taking it to the basket, which was drawing a lot of fouls for us. We've just got to keep doing that, being aggressive and making plays."

The Ducks allowed the fewest points in the first half since Washington had 13 at the break on Jan. 23, 2022. Oregon scored the final nine points heading into the break, the third run of at least 9-0 by the UO men in the opening 20 minutes.
Oregon opened the second half with a 19-7 run to lead 71-23. From there UC Davis methodically cut into the lead, getting back within 38 at 88-50 with 5:25 to play.
"Other than that stretch, I thought we played really hard and did some really good things," Altman said. "We broke down defensively there a number of times; in that little stretch there we were just so happy we were scoring, we didn't guard. But other than that stretch, I thought we played pretty hard, pretty active. Played with more energy, which was good to see."
Six different Ducks scored during a 14-3 run as Oregon ended that back-and-forth stretch and regained momentum. That gave the Ducks their biggest lead of the day, 102-53 with 1:38 to play.
Up Next: The Ducks host Portland on Wednesday (8 p.m., BTN).
