Ducks Tie Hits Record in 20-1 Win at Rutgers
03/28/25 | Softball
This was the sixth time in program history that the Ducks have recorded 19 hits in a game. Prior to Friday, the most recent one came Feb. 7, 2020, versus George Washington.
Braiesey Rosa hit a grand slam and Stefini Ma'ake drove in a career-high six runs to spark the offense as Oregon won it's 30th game of the season and improved to 5-1 in the Big Ten Conference. At 30-3, the 2025 squad has program's best 33-game mark since going a school-record 33-0 to open the 2017 season.
"I just wanted to step up for my team and get those runs in for them," said Ma'ake. "Clutch up in big moments."
There were many career-highs and career firsts at the plate for the Ducks on Friday. Ma'ake's six RBI came on a career-best four hits. Kaylynn Jones set career highs in hits (4) and doubles (2), while Rosa's four RBI established a career high.
Kai Luschar went 3-for-4 and stole two bases to climb up to third on the UO single season steals list. Her sister, Kedre Luschar, was one of five Ducks to drive in two or more runs against the Scarlet Knights (16-20, 1-5), joining Ma'ake, Rosa, Paige Sinicki (2) and Dezianna Patmon (2).
Ten different Ducks got a hit on Friday in a game that saw Abby Mulvey and Regan Legg register their first career hits.
In the circle, Lyndsey Grein struck out seven and didn't allow a hit in three innings to earn her NCAA-leading 17th win of the season.
"Just starting ahead and working through the zone as best as I could," said Grein, who threw a first-pitch strike to seven of the 11 batters she faced on Friday. "So starting ahead and working in a variety of pitches worked best today."

How It Happened: The Ducks scored in all five innings.
Oregon used its speed and took advantage of an error to score four runs in the top of the first.
Kai Luschar led the game off with a single and stole second. It was the 17th time in 33 games that she reached base leading off the first inning and then stole second.
"Kai getting on is really important and then having everyone else pass the bat," said Ma'ake. "Situational hitting is really important in softball."
Katie Flannery hit a ball up the middle that the shortstop couldn't handle and Kai Luschar came around to score on the error. Kedre Luschar's hit scored Flannery for a 2-0 lead.
Patmon followed with an RBI double and then she scored on Ma'ake's single to cap the Ducks' four-run first.
Oregon put up and eight-spot in the second inning, highlighted by Rosa's first career grand slam.
Jones led the inning off with a double. Kai Luschar singled into left and Jones moved up to third. Kai Luschar stole her second base of the game before Sinicki doubled into left to bring both runners in and Oregon led 6-0.
Flannery was hit by a pitch and Rylee McCoy walked to load the bases. Kedre Luschar drew a walk to force in a run. Patmon was hit by a pitch to force in another that made it 8-0.
An out later, Rosa drove a 1-2 pitch over the wall in center field for the first grand slam of her career. It was Rosa's fifth round-tripper of the season.

Ma'ake's ninth homer of the year helped Oregon score four more times in the third.
Kedre Luschar beat out an infield single and Patmon walked. Ma'ake then drove a 1-2 pitch well over the wall in left field to give the Ducks a 15-0 lead.
Rosa was hit by a pitch to keep the inning going. Jones's second double of the game plated pinch-runner Ayanna Shaw to make it 16-0.
In the fourth inning, Remmington Hewitt, who entered the game as a defensive replacement, singled to left. Ma'ake brought her home with a single up the middle for a 17-0 lead.
Two Ducks recorded their first career hits as part of Oregon's three-run fifth inning.
Jones led off with a single, her fourth hit of the game. Legg, a sophomore who entered the game as a defensive replacement the inning before, singled through the left side for her first career hit.
Mulvey pinch-hit for Sinicki and followed with a single into left center that scored Jones. It was the first career hit and RBI for Mulvey, a senior catcher from La Quinta, Calif. Flannery's sacrifice fly then scored Legg for a 19-1 lead.
Ma'ake's sixth RBI of the game was the result of a single into left field that brought Sinicki home for the Ducks' 20th run of the game.
