Ducks Break School Record with 20 Hits
03/29/25 | Softball
The Ducks (31-3, 6-1) outscored the Scarlet Knights 41-3 in the two-game series and had 39 hits. The 41 runs over two games is also a program record as Oregon scored 20 runs in back-to-back games for the first time ever.
Saturday, Rylee McCoy and Kedre Luschar led the team with four hits, Paige Sinicki, Dezianna Patmon, Braiesey Rosa, Stefini Ma'ake and Kaylynn Jones all contributed two hits and Remmington Hewitt and Abby Mulvey had one apiece.
McCoy spurred the Ducks' six-homer attack with two, while Oregon's record-breaking 20th hit was a three-run shot off the bat of Luschar in the fifth inning. Ma'ake, Sinicki and Hewitt also left the yard.
"We prepared really well during the week," said McCoy. "I think we kind of just passed the bat and that allowed all of our hitters to get in. We have confidence in every single person in the dugout knowing that one of us is going to get the job done."
The Ducks' 31-3 record is the program's best 34-game mark since going a school-record 34-0 to open the 2017 season.

How It Happened: Oregon scored two runs in the first inning and then opened the game up with a five-run third ahead of the 12-run fifth inning.
McCoy's 12th home run of the year gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Sinicki reached base on a walk and an out later, McCoy drove a 1-2 pitch out to left.
Oregon added five runs in the third inning. Sinicki led off with a bunt and raced around to third on a throwing error.
McCoy pulled a hit through the left side to score Sinicki for a 3-0 lead.
Luschar and Patmon both singled to load the bases for Rosa. The Duck catcher delivered a two-run single into center field for a 5-0 advantage.
Ma'ake's hit brought Patmon home as Rosa moved around to third. Jones's sacrifice fly scored Rosa with Oregon's seventh run of the game.
Rutgers answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Ducks' lead to 7-2.
The Ducks got those runs back right away in the top of the fourth. McCoy hit her second home run of the game out to center field.
"I wanted to adjust from yesterday; I didn't get the outcomes that I wanted," said McCoy, who was held hitless in Friday's game. "I really locked in during my pregame swings and just stayed in my process and knew that my hits were going to come."
Luschar followed McCoy's homer with a double and stole third. Patmon pulled a single through the left side to score Luschar for a 9-2 lead.
Rutgers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the fourth, but Lyndsey Grein came out of the bullpen and escaped the inning without allowing a run thanks to a double play. Grein got a fly out to Kai Luschar in left, who then threw out Leah Sims as she was attempting to score from third. Kai Luschar's throw was on the money to Rosa and Sims was out by several steps.
Grein struck out two batters and allowed no runs or hits in 1.2 innings to pick up her NCAA-leading 18th win of the season.
The Ducks kept passing the bat in their 12-run fifth.
Kai Luschar walked and stole second. Sinicki hit a 1-1 pitch out of the park to left field and Oregon led 11-2
The inning continued as Oregon loaded the bases on an error, a single and a walk. Rosa's sacrifice fly made it 12-2.
Ma'ake then cleared the bases with her 10th home run of the season. The three-run shot to left gave Ma'ake 10 RBI for the weekend.

With the Ducks leading 15-2, Jones kept the rally going with a double before Hewitt hit a pinch-hit home run to make it 17-2. It was Oregon's first pinch-hit homer since KK Humphreys left the yard last season against Oregon State.
After Sinicki walked and went to second on a wild pitch, Mulvey pulled a single through the left side for her second career hit and second career RBI.
McCoy's career-best fourth hit of the game was a single to left center. Kedre Luschar then drove in the Ducks' final three runs on her fourth hit of the game, a homer that skipped off the glove of a Rutgers outfielder over the left field wall.
Kedre Luschar also stole a career-high three bases on Saturday.
"We just talked about being the same team every day no matter what we're doing, who we're playing, or where we are, and we just really showed up this weekend," said Kedre Luschar.
Astounding Offense
Oregon's offense put up some astronomical numbers in the two-game series. Seven starters hit .500 or better, including three who had a .750 clip or better. Kedre Luschar led the charge with a .857 average, followed by Jones (.750), Patmon (.750), Ma'ake (.667), Rosa (.600), McCoy (.572) and Kai Luschar (.500).
As a team, the Ducks hit .582 (39-of-67) with six doubles, eight home runs and 40 RBI.

Stolen Bases Watch
Kai Luschar jumped into a tie for second on the UO single-season steals with a stolen base in the fifth inning, her 38th on the year. She's tied with Sari-Jane Jenkins, who stole 38 bases in 2007. Kai Luschar is just three back of the Duck record, 41, set by Suzie Barnes in 2007.
Individual Stolen Bases - Season
1. 41, Suzie Barnes (2007)
T2. 38, Sari-Jane Jenkins (2007)
T2. 38, Kai Luschar (2025)

From a team standpoint, Oregon had five more steals on Saturday as the Ducks continue to zero in on the program record of 126, set in 2007. The 2025 squad's total now stands at 116, which is already No. 2 on the UO season list

Quotable:
Outfielder Kedre Luschar on being successful at the plate this weekend
