Ducks Fly East to Open Big Ten Play

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon women's tennis team heads east to open Big Ten play, as the Ducks visit No. 74 Rutgers on Friday (9 a.m. PT) before making their way to Maryland on Sunday (9 a.m. PT).

The Ducks finished the nonconference portion of their schedule with a 7-2 record after picking up a pair of road victories in their last two matches. UO defeated both UC Davis and Saint Mary's in California by the same 4-2 score.
Senior Karin Young went unbeaten across four singles and doubles matches against the Aggies and Gaels, improving her spring singles record to 5-3 from the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Sophomore Tilde Jagare has won seven straight singles matches to begin the season with freshman Patsy Daughters also posting seven singles victories (7-2).
So far this spring, Oregon boasts a 29-14 combined singles record to go with a 17-8 doubles mark. The Ducks have gone on to clinch the doubles points in seven of nine matches this season, led by the tandems of Daughters and Young and Jagare and freshman Juliett Santitto, who have a team-leading four doubles wins.
The Scarlet Knights have won six of their last seven, including two straight, and are ranked at No. 74 in the latest ITA team rankings. Maryland posted a 7-5 record during nonconference play and has won two of its last three matches after a 4-0 sweep of Norfolk State in its last match.
Oregon is 1-0 all-time against Maryland after defeating the Terrapins 6-1 in Eugene during the 2020 season. Sunday's meeting with Rutgers will mark the first-ever between the teams.
