Ducks Suffer 4-0 Loss at No. 5 Michigan
04/12/25 | Women's Tennis
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Facing a stacked singles lineup and the fifth-ranked team in the country, the Oregon women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 loss to Michigan Saturday at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Wolverines (18-3, 11-0) picked up their 12th consecutive victory to remain unbeaten in conference play, while Oregon (8-11, 1-9) has faced eight ranked opponents in 10 Big Ten matches this spring.
Heading to singles down a point, the Ducks went up against four Michigan singles players ranked in the nation's top 75 – including the nation's No. 3 player in Julia Fliegner at the top of the lineup.
Michigan picked up straight-set victories on courts two, three and five for the sweep. Freshman Juliet Santitto entered the weekend on a three-match winning streak and moved up to the fifth spot in the lineup for the first time this season, but saw her winning streak snapped.
Marjorie Souza, who faced Fliegner, went unfinished on court one, while Karin Young and Tilde Jagare fell to ranked foes at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.
Nine of Oregon's 11 losses this spring have come to ranked opponents, including eight of nine conference losses. Next up, the Ducks visit No. 58 Michigan State on Sunday (9 a.m. PT).
