
Kersten Announces Five Roster Additions

Marlee Arrington, Alanah Clemente, Jillian McCarty, Holley McFadden and Sophia Meyers are the newest Ducks.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon volleyball head coach Trent Kersten has announced five additions to the Ducks' roster for the upcoming 2025 season. The list of new Ducks includes Marlee Arrington, Alanah Clemente, Jillian McCarty, Holley McFadden and Sophia Meyers. Both Arrington and Meyers played for Kersten at Loyola Marymount last season.
Meyers is spending her graduate season in Eugene, Arrington will be a sophomore while both Clemente, McCarty and McFadden will be freshmen.
"We are thrilled to welcome Sophia, Holley, Jillian, Alanah and Marlee to Oregon Volleyball," Kersten said of his first group of UO signees. "This class brings talent, toughness and a shared belief in the vision of Oregon Volleyball. Our future is bright."
Marlee Arrington
6-0 | Opposite
Glendora, Calif. (Ontario Christian HS/LMU)
Arrington was a 2024 WCC All-Freshman Team selection after averaging 2.11 points per set. She finished her debut season with 128 kills and 43 total blocks over 23 matches. The two-time WCC Freshman of the Week put down double-digit kills in six matches, hitting .333 or better in four of those outings. Arrington had a season-high 13 kills against Gonzaga (Nov. 23) in a four-set victory.
Defensively, Arrington averaged 0.61 blocks per set and posted three or more blocks in 10 matches. She had a season-high five blocks in a sweep of Saint Mary's (Oct. 19). In the Lions' NCAA first-round victory over Washington, Arrington accounted for five kills, five digs and three blocks.
Kersten says…
"Marlee has one of the best arms in the country. She's played in big-time matches and took huge strides forward last season. I'm fired up to have Marlee as part of our program at Oregon and look forward to seeing her continue to elevate her game."
Alanah Clemente
6-2 | Opposite
Santa Clarita, Calif. (Bishop Alemany HS)
During her standout prep career, Clemente was a two-time All-Mission League performer for BAHS and was also twice recognized as a member of the All-CIF Team. Clemente ranks second in school history in career kills and points as a go-to attacker all over the court.
Clemente helped Bishop Alemany to two CIF-SS championships (2021, '22) and an open division title in 2023. As a member of the Supernova All-Stars, she is also a two-time Club Player of the Year.
Kersten says…
"Alanah is one of the most exciting opposites in the nation. She has been playing six rotations for both her high school and club teams, and brings big-time athleticism to our gym. I'm excited to watch her grow throughout her career and thrive in development within our strength program led by Coach Rad."
Jillian McCarty
6-1 | Setter
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Westminster Academy)
McCarty was named to the All-County (Fla.) Second Team by the Miami Herald and Sun Sentinel after a standout 2024 season for Westminster Academy. In a show of her versality as the Westminster setter, she recorded four double-doubles and two triple-doubles this past season.
In the regional semifinals of the 2A FHSAA Tournament, McCarty posted one of those double-doubles with 21 assists, 10 digs and four kills over four sets against eventual state semifinalist First Baptist. She also helped lead Westminster to a third-place finish in the premier bracket of the Nike Tournament of Championships in Arizona. McCarty plays club for Jupiter Elite.
Kersten says…
"Jillian is one of the most competitive young setters in the country. She plays the position with assertiveness and has the ability to be a threat in the front row. Jillian took a leap of faith by reclassifying and moving across the country to join the Ducks, and I can't wait to see everything she accomplishes in her Oregon career."
Holley McFadden
6-4 | Middle Blocker
Bainbridge Island, Wash. (Bainbridge)
In recognition of her standout senior campaign, McFadden earned a spot on the 2024 WSVCA Class 2A All-State First Team. She was also a two-time 2A Olympic League (Wash.) Player of the Year, taking the league's top honors in 2023 and 2024.
Over the final two seasons of her prep career, McFadden amassed 532 kills, 91 aces and 71 blocks with Bainbridge, and picked up 147 digs as a junior. This past season, McFadden led BHS to a district title and an undefeated 17-0 record in league play. She also helped Bainbridge to the second round of the WIAA 2A State Tournament.

"Holley is a dynamic middle attacker who has embraced multiple roles throughout her career. She brings elite size, a relentless curiosity to learn and a daily commitment to improvement. The growth she's shown over the past year is a credit to her work ethic, and I'm excited to see the impact she'll make in our gym and beyond."
Sophia Meyers
5-11 | Outside Hitter
Seattle, Wash. (Eastside Catholic HS/LMU)
Meyers, a three-time all-conference performer, comes to Eugene having amassed 1,250 kills, 1,015 digs, 141 services aces and 43 double-doubles during her career. She was named to the All-WCC First Team in 2024 following two all-conference seasons at Portland State in 2022 and 2023, the latter as a member of the All-Big Sky First Team.
Last season at LMU, Meyers averaged 3.56 points per set, 2.97 kills per set and 2.36 digs per set coupled with 44 aces and 43 total blocks. She reached double-digit kills in 20 of 31 matches in 2024 including six matches with at least 15 kills. In LMU's five-set win over Washington in the opening round of the NCAA, Meyers had 21 kills—while hitting .375—to go with six digs, three blocks and two aces.
Meyers began her collegiate career at Montana where she played during the 2021 spring season.
Kersten says…
"Sophia is a proven winner at multiple levels throughout her career. She brings tremendous work ethic, tenacity and a strong ability to impact the game in every phase. Our team will undoubtedly look to her for veteran leadership."
Last week, Kersten added Lauren Page as an assistant coach and Haley Stangle as director of operations to complete the UO volleyball staff. Giovana Melo and Sarah Smevog were previously announced as the Ducks' associate head coach and assistant coach, respectively, while Jerry Quan will remain on the staff as technical coordinator.
