09/18/25 | Women's Volleyball
Oregon has now won 11th-consecutive matches against Oregon State.
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Oregon volleyball team dropped the opening set Thursday evening at Oregon State but rallied for the 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-20, 27-25, 27-25) in Corvallis. The win doubled as career win No. 100 for head coach Trent Kersten and pushed the Ducks' record to 8-1 this season.
With Thursday's result, Oregon has won 11-consecutive matches in the series with Oregon State.
How It Happened: With the score tied at 20-all in the first set, the home team rattled off a quick two points to force the Ducks into a timeout. Oregon State (5-4), seemingly, took at 23-21 lead but the call was reversed on a successful challenge to give Valentina Vaulet a kill and tie the score at 22-all. Oregon won the next point to edge ahead but OSU scored three in a row to win the opener.
Oregon State won the first point of the second set but the Ducks answered back with three in a row and never trailed again. The lead reached as high as seven points at 16-9 but the Beavers began to chip away and pulled to within two. Kersten called a timeout with his team ahead, 21-19. Out of the break, Oregon won four of the last points including a three-point run to the match.
In a set that featured 10 ties, the Ducks saved three set points in the third including one on a successful challenge by Kersten. Oregon State led 24-22 before UO got back-to-back kills from the freshman duo of Alanah Clemente and Maria Tabacuks to tie the score. After fighting off a third set point—OSU, 25-24—Oregon capped the frame with help from a pair of tough serves from Tabacuks.
From 4-all in the fourth, the home team won eight of the next 11 points for a 12-7 lead. Once again, the Ducks responded with a run of points, capping the surge with a kill from Clemente to pull even at 13-13. For a third time in Thursday's in-state rivalry match, the teams were tied at 20-all before OSU took a 22-20 lead.
Tabacuks cut the deficit in half with a kill followed by Clemente and Iva Sucurovic teaming up for a block to pull even. The teams traded points and the Ducks reached match point at 24-23 after another kill by Clemente. Two points later, UO was facing a set point but turned to Clemente who came through with a pair of kills to give her team another match point. This time, Tabacuks served up an ace that found the floor between two OSU players.
Up Next: Oregon travels to Portland State (7 p.m., ESPN+) Friday for the team's non-conference finale.
