Offense Explodes As Ducks Beat Lady Lions
01/24/26 | Women's Basketball
Oregon shot nearly 60 percent as a team Saturday and ended a four-game losing streak with an 89-59 win over Penn State.
EUGENE, Ore. — Fresh off their worst shooting performance in Big Ten play this season, the Oregon women put together their best.
The Ducks shot 57.1 percent as a team to end a four-game losing streak with an 89-59 win Saturday over Penn State before 6,136 fans at Matthew Knight Arena. The shooting performance, which included 64.5 percent accuracy by the UO women in the second half, came just three days after they shot 32.2 percent against Minnesota.
"It was one of our better crowds, and I think we treated them to a pretty good game," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "We really needed that one, big-time, just to kind of stop the bleeding a little bit, regain some confidence."
Sarah Rambus came off the bench to score a career-high 20 points for the Ducks, on 9-of-13 shooting. Katie Fiso added 15 points with 10 assists for her seventh double-double of the season, Ari Long scored 11 and Mia Jacobs added 10.

Rambus led a 42-point effort by the UO bench, which also got nine points on a trio of three-pointers from Avary Cain and eight points from Amina Muhammad. Rambus made Oregon's first basket of the game after eight straight misses by starters.
"We got off to that tough start, so we kind of needed their energy, to be honest," Graves said. "When we get that kind of production all across the board — inside, outside, starters, bench — we're obviously much better."
How It Happened: The Lady Lions, who were without their leading scorer due to injury, scored on their first three possessions to take a 7-0 lead and force a quick timeout by Graves. It took the Ducks a couple more minutes to get their offense rolling, but Rambus scored to break the cold start.

"I don't think it was anything they did or we did," Graves said. "We just didn't focus, and instead of letting it go, I decided, we've got to put a stop to this right now. And I think that helped. But yeah, it was nice to see that we could recover."
An 8-0 run by the Ducks tied the first quarter at 10-10. After Penn State took one more lead at 12-10, Oregon took control for good with a 6-0 run to cap the opening period.
Cain came off the bench to hit two early threes in the second quarter, and Fiso pushed the lead to double digits at 30-19. The Ducks shot 9-of-14 in the period, and they took a 40-34 lead into halftime.

The teams traded buckets out of the break, with Penn State hitting a three to answer one by the Ducks and stay within 47-40. But then Jacobs hit her second straight three at the other end, sparking a 14-0 run that included a three from Long and a three-point play by Fiso.
"We started to see the ball go through from range, and it's just one of those things that just kind of snowballs a little bit in a positive way," Graves said. "And we've seen it snowball the other way. So it was nice tonight to see it."
A 74-45 lead entering the fourth allowed Graves to spread minutes around throughout the roster. Ten different Ducks played multiple minutes in the period, with Sammie Wagner scoring her first point of the season.
