CLEARWATER, Fla. — No. 5 Oregon scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, but the bats went cold after that.

Southeastern Louisiana took the lead by scoring four times in the fifth inning and went on to win, 4-2 Sunday at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.

How It Happened: In the bottom of the first, Amari Harper reached on a one-out double. Elon Butler walked and Rylee McCoy reached on an error to load the bases.

Kaylynn Jones singled into left center to score Hardy and Butler and the Ducks led 2-0.

Starter Elise Sokolsky and reliever Taylour Spencer kept the Lions (4-2) off the scoreboard through four innings. Sokolsky went 3.0 innings, allowed two hits, struck out two and walked two.

Spencer worked around a two-out single for a scoreless fourth.

The Ducks (2-3) ran into trouble in the fifth innings. SELU used three hits, a walk and two wild pitches to score four runs and take a 4-2 lead.

Oregon put the go-ahead run on base in the bottom of the sixth, but could not break through.

Jones went 2-for-3 against the Lions to raise her average to .400 for the weekend. She was named to the NFCA All-Tournament Team.

Notable: Freshman Maddie Milhorn threw the final two innings and struck out three while only allowing one hit … Ayanna Shaw hit. .353 (6-for-17) for the tournament … This was the first game between Oregon and SELU since 2003.

Up Next: The second week of the season will find the Ducks visiting the brand-new Stanford Stadium for the Feb. 13-15 Cardinal Classic. Oregon will play Cal State Fullerton, Kentucky, Cal Poly and host Stanford.
