2007-08: The most experienced golfer on the team needs to continue his consistent play for the Ducks to succeed. Has started 24 straight tournaments entering the spring. Began senior campaign with a solid fall, placing 26th or better in all five tournaments. Among those tournaments was a career low round of 65 in the Alister MacKenzie Invitational where he tied for 20th (74-71-65-210). Best showing was a tie for 11th at the Pacific Invitational (69-70-68-207).
2006-07: Started all 13 tournaments and was second on the team with a 73.4 stroke average. Solidified a spot in the top five with his consistent play. Back-to-back career efforts in the fall when he tied for sixth at the Northwest Collegiate Classic (76-69-71-216) and tied for eighth at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational (70-66-74-210). Second round 66 at the Alister Mackenzie was a season low. Was unable to record another top ten finish in the spring, but played solid throughout, with his best finish coming at the Pac-10 championships, where he finished in a tie for 19th (71-73-76-69-289).
2005-06: Led team with a 74.0 stroke average, playing in 10 tournaments. Came on in the spring with three top-25 finishes. Tied for 22nd at the Duck Invitational (76-71-73-220). Best performance of the season was a tie for eighth at the Thunderbird Intercollegiate (72-68-69-209). Tied for 12th at the U.S. Intercollegiate (74-71-145).
2004-05: Freshman made an immediate impact, playing in all four events during the fall and three events in the spring. Tied for 10th at The Prestige at PGA West (79-75-73-227). Finished 33rd or better in the other three fall tournaments. Shot a low round of 68 in his very first tournament as a Duck.
Before Oregon: Led Huntington Beach Union to the 2003 CIF stats championship by finishing fifth individually. A four-time all-Sunset League selection. Team won four straight league titles. Rated the No. 31 junior golfer in California and 119th nationally. Named all-Orange County first team in 2002 and second team in 2003. Was the 2002 Westfield PGA Southern California junior champion.
Personal: Born Joseph Benedetti, July 10, 1985, in Newport Beach, Calif. Parents are Jeff and Jolene Benedetti. One older sister. Major is history with a minor in business.
