2007-08: Competed in two tournaments in the fall, the Giustina Memorial Classic and Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, where he placed in a tie for 29th (77-79-72-228).
2006-07: Came on late in the spring to compete at Arizona, Fresno and the NCAA West Regional. Tied for 32nd at Fresno’s Lexus Classic (79-73-70-222). Career low round of 69 came at the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate. Also had a 71 at the NCAA West Regional.
2005-06: Played in two events, plus the junior varsity Washington Winter Championships. Good showing at the Duck Invitational where he tied for 36th (77-73-75-225). Surprising qualifier for the 2005 U.S. Amateur.
2004-05: Worked hard in coming back from injury. Played in the Northwest Collegiate Classic and tied for 66th (73-79-75-227). Advanced to the round of 64 at the Pacific Northwest Amateur Championship (73-73-146). Tied for 55th at the Duck Invitational, competing as an individual (75-76-75-225).
2003-04: Redshirt season.
Before Oregon: A four-time all-Midwestern League first team performer at Sheldon High School. Tied for 10th individually at the OSAA state tournament as a junior. Was the 2001 Oregon Golf Association junior champion. Won the 2001 OGA Tournament of Champions at Pumpkin Ridge. Took fifth at the 2002 OGA Public Links championships competing against amateurs of all ages.
Personal: Born Edward John Whitney, November 26, 1984, in Eugene, Ore. Parents are John and Judy Whitney. No brothers or sisters. Lists cars and guitars among his hobbies. Major is business administration with a minor in economics.
