Men?s Golf Seventh After Two Rounds at Husky Invitational

BREMERTON, Wash. -- Jimmy White -- three days removed from his school record 63 -- carded rounds of 73-73 to stand tied for 10th at 2-over 146 following the first two rounds of the Opus Northwest Husky Invitational, played Monday at the par-72, 7,035-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain.
As a team, Oregon was eighth at 753, but was just nine strokes out of third in a tightly-bunched field. Washington had the first day lead at 11-over 731, followed by Oregon State at 740. No. 17 Brigham Young was third at 744 with San Diego State (745), No. 3 UCLA (747), No. 4 California (747), Washington State (750) and Oregon all within nine strokes of the Cougars.
The Ducks also got a solid day from freshman Dustin Pewarchuk, who was tied for 20th at 5-over 149 following rounds of 75-74. Sophomore Justin St. Clair from Springfield, Ore., was tied for 34th at 153, while senior Mike Sica was tied for 42nd at 154.
White, a senior who graduated from South Eugene High, set school, course and tournament records with a 9-under 63 during Friday's final round of the Northwest Collegiate Classic played at Trysting Tree in Corvallis, Ore. On Monday, White had two birdies and three bogeys in each round to get to 2-over par.
The 54-hole Husky Invitational, which concludes with a single round Tuesday morning, requires teams to compete six golfers and count the top five scores from each round. Usually tournaments are a five-count-four format.
