Softball Snaps Streak With 1-0 Win Over Stanford

EUGENE ? Oregon senior Jenn Poore hit an RBI double in the fifth inning to score freshman Suzie Barnes and lead the No. 12 Oregon softball team to a 1-0 victory over No. 7 Stanford in front of 427 fans at Howe Field Friday. With the win, the Ducks snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 38-17 overall, 10-9 Pacific-10 Conference while Stanford fell to 41-16, 11-8.
Junior pitcher Ani Nyhus (21-11) won her tenth conference game of the season ? her sixth by shutout. Stanford All-American Dana Sorensen (26-9) struck out nine and walked one in the loss. "It was great to get that run across the board," Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen said. "I thought both pitchers did outstanding and we were able to get some timely hitting when we needed it." Oregon matched its Pac-10 win total from a season ago, winning its 10 conference game for the seventh time in school history.
