Softball Defeats Longwood 4-1

SAN DIEGO, Calif. ? The University of Oregon softball team defeated Lonwood University 4-1 at the San Diego State Tournament Sunday morning. With the win, Oregon improves to 15-9 overall while senior pitcher Lindsey Kontra improves to 2-1. Longwood dropped to 14-14 on the year.
Oregon freshman T.J. Eadus complemented Kontra's performance, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Eadus started the scoring rally with an RBI double that scored Beth Boskovich in the bottom of the first inning and Topps made it 2-0 with a single up the middle that scored Eadus.
Eadus hit her second double of the game and drove in a second run in the third, scoring Suzie Barnes to extend Oregon's lead to 3-0.
Longwood got on the board in the sixth inning when pitcher Jen Steele (9-6) drove in Caitlin Hooe to make it 3-1. The Lancers had runners at second and third with one out, but reliever Alicia Cook struck out Megan Camden and forced Pepper Wilson to ground out to secure Oregon's lead.
The Ducks got the run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by freshman Kristi Jorgensen that scored sophomore Kayleen Hudson.
Oregon wraps up the tournament vs. San Diego State at 2 p.m.
