Mitchum & Skipper Score NCAA Provisional Marks in Boise Second Day

NAMPA, Idaho ? In second and final-day action Saturday in the United Heritage Invitational at Boise State's Jacksons Track, senior Eric Mitchum and junior Tommy Skipper scored NCAA provisional marks en route to wins in the 60 hurdles and pole vault, respectively.
Skipper upped his season best in the pole vault with his winning height (17-9). Saturday's mark improved on the returning NCAA champion's former provisional mark of 17-4 1/2 from mid-January, and was 3 1/2 inches from the NCAA automatic standard (18-0 1/2).
Mitchum and senior Akobundu Ikwuakor finished first and second in the 60 hurdles in times of 7.81 and 8.04 seconds, respectively. Mitchum's time easily met the NCAA provisional time (7.91) and was only .11 seconds off the automatic mark (7.70).
Ikwuakor added a personal best in the 400 (fifth, 47.92) and was only .09 seconds from the fifth-ranked Duck OF all-time (Howard Moore, 47.83, 2000).

Other solid men's marks came from seniors Richard Del Rincon (60, third, 6.82), Travis Anderson (800, fifth, 1:54.65) and Jonathan Derby (pole vault, fourth, 16-9 1/4), and redshirt juniors David Moore (pole vault, seventh, 16-5 1/4) and Colin Veldman (shot put, sixth, 54-4).
On the women's side, redshirt junior Britney Henry upped her weight throw school record for the second straight week (third, 61-0 3/4), and was barely a foot away from the NCAA provisional mark (62-4). Her previous best and school record came last week in
Redshirt senior Brittany Hinchcliffe followed in fourth place (fourth, 59-7) and upped her personal best by two inches that ranks second all-time for UO.
Senior Lauryn Jordan added second in the triple jump (39-8 3/4) and moved to third all-time for UO in her indoor event debut for
On the track, redshirt freshman Kalindra McFadden won the 60 hurdles Saturday (9.05), while her time from the prelims Friday (9.04) moved her to fourth all-time for UO.
In the 200, redshirt sophomore Irie Searcy took third with a .08-second personal best (25.27), and was only .25 seconds from UO's fifth-ranked sprinter of all-time (Janette Davis, 25.02, 2002). Freshman Leah Worthen crossed the finish line.22 seconds behind Searcy (fourth, 25.59).
Other solid women's marks came from sophomore Kasey Harwood (4000, 11th, 58.90) and freshman Megan Maloney (weight throw, eighth, 53-1 1/2).
