Two-time NCAA pole vault qualifier for Ducks in '05, and one of only six collegiate returnees (and the only one from the Pac-10) that was an NCAA pole vault qualifier indoors and outdoors last season. Ranks second among four Duck returnees that have scored in the Pac-10 pole vault and met regional qualifying standards in previous seasons. Altogether, has upped indoor personal best almost a foot the past two seasons, and his current best of 17-6 1/2 ranks him fifth all-time for Oregon indoors. Outdoors in 2006, will need to clear 5.05m (16-6 3/4) to net a regional championship invite for the fourth straight season. Will try to raise his outdoor personal best of 16-9 1/4 by at least 8 3/4 inches and join the UO all-time list (his current coach Mark Vanderville ranks 10th all-time with his 17-6 collegiate best from 1991).
2004-05: NCAA Qualifier (Pole Vault). One of six Ducks to make individual appearances in NCAA Championships both indoors and outdoors, and the only one in the pole vault. Tied for 14th in NCAA Championships outdoors (16-4 3/4), after he earned an invite with his season best in the rainy, windy NCAA West Regional (third, 16-7 1/4). One of three Ducks to score in Pac-10 Championships pole vault (sixth, 16-6 3/4) and four Ducks in the event. Posted marks of 16-6 3/4 or better in all four outdoor pre-NCAA appearances. At end of outdoor campaign, ranked 55th nationally, 16th nationally and 11th in the Pac-10 based on season bests. Indoors, raised personal best by almost a complete foot to 17-6 1/2 after he entered season with previous indoor best of 16-6 3/4. Made NCAA Championships debut indoors (no-height) after he cleared 17 feet for the first time in his career a week before in early March in the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier (second, 17-6 1/2) ? a mark that ranked him in a tie for 14th nationally among collegians indoors. Also bettered preseason best in indoor opener, the Husky Classic (ninth, 16-9 1/4). Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoors ? Pole Vault ? 5.06m (16-7 1/4), West Regional Championships, Eugene, Ore. (5/28/05). Indoors ? Pole Vault - 5.35m (17-6 1/2), NCAA Last Chance Qualifier, Seattle (3/5/05).
2003-2004: Pac-10/West Regional Qualifier (Pole Vault). Was one of four Ducks to compete in pole vault in the West Regional Championships, but missed opening height. Was eligible for Pac-10 duty, but did not make trip since the runner-up Ducks could only take 24 athletes to the conference finale. In late April in Eugene, posted 2 1/2-inch personal best in Oregon Invitational (third, 16-9 1/4). At outdoor season’s end, ranked 11th in Pac-10, 18th in regional and 56th (tie) nationally in pole vault. Indoors, entered season with an indoor personal best of 16-0 3/4, and went 16 feet or higher in four of five competitions. Ended his season with back-to-back indoor personal best efforts in the Mountain Pacific Championships (seventh, 16-6) and NCAA Last Chance Qualifier (fifth, 16-6 3/4) - both Pac-10 outdoor qualifiers. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - Pole Vault - 5.11m (16-9 1/4) (PR), Oregon Invitational, Eugene (4/24/04). Indoor - Pole Vault - 5.05m (16-6 3/4) (PR), NCAA Last Chance Qualifier, Seattle (3/6/04).
2002-03: Pac-10 Qualifier (Pole Vault). Outdoors competed in five pole vault contests, with two above 16 feet at end of season, and the other three only an inch away. Upped personal best by four inches at home in Oregon Twilight (fourth, 16-6 3/4). Entered outdoor slate with best of 15-11 3/4, and cleared 15-11 in first three outings - Oregon Preview (first), Pepsi Team Invite (first-tie) and Oregon Invite (fourth). Cleared 16 feet for first time in Cardinal Qualifier in Stanford in early May (third, 16-2 3/4). Threw javelin for the first and only meet since his prep days in Oregon Twilight and missed Pac-10 mark by only eight feet (fifth, 189-9). Was eligible to compete in Pac-10 Championships since he met the 16-4 3/4 standard, but was not selected for the runner-up Ducks’ 24-man travel roster to the meet. Personal/Seasonal Bests: Outdoor - Pole Vault - 5.05m (16-6 3/4) (then-PR), Oregon Twilight, Eugene (5/3/03). Indoor - Pole Vault - 4.90m (16-0 3/4) (then-PR), Husky Preview, Seattle (1/18/03).
2001-02: Outdoors, competed unattached locally in two meets. Just missed 16-foot barrier in Oregon Twilight with 6 3/4-inch outdoor personal best (third, 15-11 3/4, 4.87m), and no-heighted in Oregon Invitational. Indoors, would have ranked fifth on squad in pole vault with season best of 15-7 in Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev.
Prep: Owned prep pole vault best of 15-3 from 2001 senior season. Placed in Oregon 4A state meet in pole vault as senior (sixth, 14-0) and junior (10th, 13-6). Finished fourth in 2001 Oregon-Washington Border Clash (15-3). Ranked third in state in pole vault as a senior. Also owned javelin best of 180 feet. Four-year letterman in track, and was team captain, MVP and Most Inspirational Award winner. During fall season, was a three-year letterman in football, and was first-team all-league pick as a senior and squad's most inspirational award winner.
Personal: Business Administration Management major.
