
Lacrosse Falls to No. 11 Georgetown, 16-6

EUGENE, Ore.?Despite a late rally by the Ducks, no. 11 Georgetown defeated Oregon's Women's Lacrosse team 16-6 Sunday at Pape' Field.
Georgetown's Coco Stanwick led with four goals and seven draw controls. Hoyas Lucy Poole and Zan Morley each had three goals, while Schuyler Sutton scored two. Brittany Baschuk, Jordan Trautman, Bunny O'Reilly, and Courtney Hubschman netted one goal apiece for Georgetown.
Oregon's first goal came at 22:02 in the first half, when midfielder Carrie Bateman charged up the field to score. The 5'3" sophomore from Sparks, Md. led the team in ground balls, collecting five.
Sophomore Jen May scored two goals for the Ducks, both late in the second half. The 5'5" Davidsonville, Md. native made three draw controls as well.
On the heels of her record-tying five goal performance Friday night, Freshman standout Ilsa van den Berg contributed two goals in the second half, one of which came in the last 15 seconds of play. The 5'7" attack from Reisterstown, Md., collected one ground ball as well.
Jana Bradley, a 5'6" attack from Encinitas, Calif., scored one goal for Oregon with 3:12 remaining in the second half. Sophomores Alison Leiner, Lindsay Killian, and Kate Fleming each contributed an assist. Fleming, a Cardiff, Calif. native, also made a draw control and forced a turnover. Baltimore native Cara Mead nabbed one ground ball for the Ducks, and St. Louis native Erin Gaebe forced a turnover.
"We have the capability to be an excellent team, we just need to work harder at it," Coach Jen Larsen said. "Georgetown showed us what that's like."
The Ducks head to Farmville, Va., next weekend, facing Davidson Friday, March 10, at 2 p.m. and Longwood at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
