Men?s Golf Leads Washington National Winter Championship

AUBURN, Wash. ? Oregon battled through a wild day of weather Monday to take a three-shot lead over Washington State after two rounds of the Washington National Winter Championship.
Chris Dukeminier fought through periods of rain, wind and sun to fire rounds of 77-75 to lead the Ducks and was tied for second at 8-over 152. Dukeminier, a senior from Eugene, Ore., and a graduate of Sheldon High School, is one shot off the two-round lead of 151, held by Shane Prante of St. Martin's.
The Ducks also got 12-over 156 scores out of juniors Dustin Pewarchuk and Matt Ma. The two were tied for 12th.
Oregon led the field at 618, followed by Washington State at 621, Western Washington at 626, St. Martin's at 629, Washington at 631 and Idaho at 634.
The tournament, played at the par-72, 7,050-yard Washington National Golf Club, is designed as a junior varsity competition, though seven of Oregon's competitors have seen varsity action during their careers.
The final 18 holes is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
