BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal's three-run bottom of the sixth led the Bears to a 4-2 victory over 20^th-ranked Oregon on Sunday afternoon at Levine-Fricke Field.

Oregon, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, ends its regular season with a 42-17 overall record and a 7-14 finish in the Pacific-10 Conference. The Bears, currently unranked but receiving votes in both national polls, improve to 33-30 overall and 7-14 in the Pac-10.

Both teams will wait to hear their postseason fate tomorrow, when the 2007 Selection Show is televised on ESPNews at 12 p.m. PDT.

The Ducks' 42 victories this year tie for the second most in Oregon history, also accomplished in 2004. Oregon's single season record, 54 victories, was set in 1989.

Oregon, which won the first two games against Cal, takes the series victory over the Bears for the first time since 2000. The Ducks have won three season series against Pac-10 competition this year, defeating No. 15 Oregon State 2-1, No. 16 Stanford 2-1, and Cal 2-1.

Cal's Vernae Sevilla hit a two-run single down the left field line with the bases loaded to score the Bears' game-winning run in the sixth.

Junior Joanna Gail led off the top of the seventh with a home run, but the Ducks were unable to get any more runs off Cal starter Lauren Frankiewicz.

She improves to 17-15 on the year after holding the Ducks to two runs on seven hits.

Alicia Cook, who took over in the fourth for starter Melissa Rice, takes the loss falling to 21-4 on the season.

Cook also batted in the fifth, and with Kristi Leiter on second, singled to center field. Leiter advanced to third and made a heads up base running play when Erika Racklin's throw from center went wide of third base, allowing Leiter to cross the plate and even the game at one run apiece.

Sari-Jane Jenkins finished 2-for-3 on the day for Oregon.

Cal scored its first run in the third inning after Rice loaded the bases on two hits and a walk, before allowing the Bears' Julie Meyer to cross the plate on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the second, Oregon turned a 6-4-3 double play, the team's 33^rd of the season, breaking the previous record set in 2004.

In both the second and third innings, the Ducks had runners on second, only to be robbed on two-out snags in the outfield by Cal's starting rightfielder Alex Sutton and Racklin.

.On Sunday the NCAA Regional selections will be announced at noon on ESPN News. The team will gather in the Pittman Room - located in the Casanova Center - to watch the broadcast on ESPNews from 12-1 p.m.
