Little and Edwards Place Top 12 in Hawai'i Finale

HONOLULU, Hawai'i ? Sophomore Kendra Little and freshman Ashley Edwards came away with top-12 finishes overall Wednesday to help the No. 27 Oregon women's golf team maintain a fourth-place finish in the final round of the Kent Youel Invitational.
The Ducks (291-297-291-879) matched their season team low score Wednesday (291) for the fifth time this season, and second time in the three rounds on the par 72, 6,208-yard Kapolei Golf Course on Oahu.
UO's finish was a program best in the event, improving on sixth-place finishes in 2003 (914) and 2000 (928). The Ducks' other two appearances came in 2001 (17th, 960) and 2002 (12th, 931).
Individually for Oregon, sophomore Kendra Little also held on her to first-day placing for her third top-10 finish of the fall (ninth-tie, 71-75-72-218). The Eugene native has now led UO eight times in 12 rounds this fall and 21 times altogether in 48 career rounds.
Freshman Ashley Edwards added UO's third-round best (71) and a one-stroke collegiate best to move into a tie for 12th place (72-77-71-220). Two other Ducks placed top 30 ? senior Cathryn Bristow (21st-tie, 74-75-74-223) and sophomore Monika Graf (29th-tie, 74-73-79-226). Sophomore Erica Omlid ended another stroke back in a tie for 31st place (79-74-74-227), and her final two round scores of 74 stood as her collegiate best.
Overall in the event, No. 39 San Francisco won the team championship by 11 strokes (285-286-296-867), while second place featured a tie between No. 26 UC Irvine (296-292-290-878) and No. 29 San Jose State (289-297-292-878).
After the Ducks (fourth, 291-297-291-879), No. 30 New Mexico followed two strokes back in fifth place (291-291-299-881), ahead of No. 18 Stanford (sixth, 293-297-296-886), Oregon State (seventh, 304-295-300-899) and San Diego State (eighth (310-291-306-907).
Other schools in the 15-team field included UC Riverside (ninth, 300-305-304-909), Fresno State (10th, 304-301-305-910), Hawai'i (11th, 305-306-305-916), Oklahoma (12th, 303-306-315-924), Cal Poly (13th, 306-307-318-931), Southern Illinois (14th, 324-309-317-950) and Cal State Northridge (15th, 319-307-324-950).
In the individual race, Jane Chin of UC Irvine widened her lead to win by nine strokes with her third-round best 69 (68-66-69-203). San Francisco's Christina Stockton followed in second place (68-69-75-212), one stroke ahead of San Jose State's Erica Moston (third, 71-72-70-213).
In Monday's first day action, UO was tied for fourth place (291-297-588) with Irvine, while No. 39 San Francisco (285-286-571) held a 12-stroke lead over No. 30 New Mexico (second, 291-291-582) and No. 29 San Jose State (third, 289-297-586). Little led UO the first round (71), while Graf held similar honors the second round (73) for the fourth time this year in her 12 rounds of play.

Looking ahead, the Ducks have four months until their next event and resume play February-22-23 in the Kiawah Island International, held at Osprey and Cougar Point on Kiawah Island, S.C.
