Another Late Goal Lifts Oregon
03/10/08 | Women's Lacrosse
PASADENA, Calif. - For the second consecutive game, a late score helped 20th-ranked Oregon edge Temple, 10-9, at the East West Challenge on Saturday afternoon at the Rose Bowl.
Junior Casey Rector nabbed the game winner with Jana Bradley providing the assist with 2:20 to go.
The game was an even 6-6 at the half, and Temple returned to the field unstoppable - scoring three goals in less than five minutes.
But the Ducks meticulously chipped away at the Owls' three-goal edge. Jen May scored two of Oregon's four second-half goals, while Erin Chisnell was responsible for the tying score on a free position shot with 15:34 remaining.
Oregon is now 6-1 on the season and off to its best start in program history.
Senior Theresa Waldron led the squad with three goals, while Ilsa van den Berg and Alex Breiner also found themselves on the scoreboard.
Oregon will now return to Eugene to host No. 7 North Carolina at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
